Yes thats me in the back at the very beginning and also Boris Williams on drums. Andrew Bodnar on bass, an amazing player. This was a TV show called The Switch, it was my first TV appearance and also on the same show Sade. She was so excited she was crying and phoned her Mum. it was the Summer of 1983

This was the one that did it for me - massive fan after hearing this - clearly the best song of 1983. I even had 3 earrings in my left ear and a false ponytail - my mum wouldn't let me shave my hair like Alannah!!!!! Aaahh the good old days!!!!!!

Boris is spot on, his timing, floor bass drum is sick. Solid start to finish. No beat or fill is missed.

Back when I bought this on CD, the only place I could find it was a Japanese CD. So, of course it came with lyrics as the Japanese thought they heard them. Which led to a LOT of funny misheard lyrics. Like this one... only those whacky Japanese could hear _"Dinosaurs are grazing in suburbia"_ and hear it as *_"A timeless source of grace in suburbia"._* I kid you not. That's what they put in the CD insert for lyrics. And in a sense, it's wonderfully appropos for the Japanese with their long history and culture of arts and Buddhism.

@binker1: Thanks for the upload and in such great quality too. And you’re right, the bass player is very good. The bass line makes the song (apart from the keyboards that is :).

One of their best songs! By the way, according to Homer Simpson, Xylophone's are the Music of "SKELETONS!" I believe he's right!
Skeleton is derived from the latin word for "Dried up".

I am a huge fan of the Thompson Twins but disliked this for years - now I realise how good it is. I am very surprised no one has sampled this song. It has some great elements in it. It was good to hear Click Five's version of "Lies" - they did a good job.

I wasn't a fan back then, most of their songs sounded a bit trite and predictable, but this track is unbelievable, it's still fresh as when it came out. Leeway had an incredible voice, I love the bits in falsetto.

I find this video and the song pure torture. I'm not surprised Tom Bailey is wearing shades; he doesn't want anyone to recognise him. His two pals are creepy.
