THOMPSON TWINS - Side Kicks, The Movie
11 in the name of love
Multimillion selling pioneers of pop-dance music, the Thompson Twins are one of the definitive bands of the UK's 'post-romantic' musical era.
One of the most successful British bands of the mid eighties, the band set the benchmark for image/music fusion, establishing themselves as instantly recognisable both visually and orally. The trio, Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie and Joe Leeway, enjoyed international success and acclaim, scoring highly and regularly in the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.
The stuff of legend, Thompson Twins live shows encompassed the very best of music, dance and performance art. Side kicks: The Movie contains stunning live footage from a concert recorded exclusively to promote the release of their breakthrough album 'Quick Step and Side Kicks'.

Great to see concert footage of the crowd enjoying the music instead of standing there holding up a bunch of cellphones in the air.
Cry about it, Boomer
Agree. Saw them live back in the 80's. Fabulous, no phones.
WOW!!! BETTER LIVE THAN THE RECORD,!❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Multitalented, fully animated and always exotic that is the Thompson twins! Bloody nice to actually SEE a live performance that wasnt spoiled by cell phones and people just standing there not reacting.people in that crowd actually enjoyed themselves.
AMEN
Love it!
Tom playing the keyboards at 2.26 is magical
I'm so glad that I saw them twice in the mid 80's!!
I saw them live and they were a lot of fun. Great energy like this. Most concerts I’ve been to this century with the exception of red hot chilli peppers and muse have been ruined by a sea of people just holding up phones to record footage they’ll likely never watch back. So glad to be a gen Xer.
Agree. Live fabulous fun concert back in 80's, just rocking the crowd & no phones. Yeah!
“This is… the last of the petty cash”
I love the crowd at this concert...they're going mental bouncing up and down.... Love it!! If only I could hear these TT songs live I'd be right with them....
Live Lyve
Quien. Miente?
@@walterjaime443 Bless you.
doesnt get much better than this
this pretty much captures what they were like on that tour - saw them in a small club in the USA
This is one rockin show. I so wish I had been there, what a great crowd, all jumping up and down. Oh 1980s, please come back for me.
This was 1983, not 1986. I have the original (before cherry red) on the original Laserdisc. Definitely 1983.
Day-um, look at that crowd jumping! Superb!
Isn't that crazy how they jump ! Good tune !
we were all hungry, no money to eat but managed to stay happy and bouncy most of the time all night long somehow. The 80's were a strange time of "love and hate" when we thought we could change the world with just being happy.
Sounds like the best gig ever!!!
1983 more like. It was touring the "Quickstep...." album
Wish I coulda been there
wpm same here 😂
FLAWLESS !!!
This wasn't 1986 - I was there more like 1983
Yes,its 83,because in ghostbusters(1984)there was this song and i've done some research and it came in 83
Boris Williams ex-drummer The Cure and Roger O'donnell actually keyboards The Cure!!!
This was the first gig I ever went to.
83 have it on vhs
Wicked energy!!!
The bass is outstanding.
@@anthonybeyond As I say before: Too bad the backing musicians are almost hidden as they create the magic live
Squeal! SO wish i was there! But I did get to see them in 84 in Florida :- O love this band so hard! looking for bass tabs if anyone knows where to find 'em! :- )
Qué vocerron TOM BAILEY eres genial, sin duda alguna THOMPSON TWINS, yo tengo todos sus discos NUEVAMENTE ROCK 101
My first approach to Thompson Twins was in the Ghostbusters soundtrack! great song!!
Great bass lines
Too bad the backing musicians are almost hidden as they create the magic live
see kids, back in the day concert goers were not morons with smart-smth and were really having fun!
Ghostbusters brought me here!
Jonathan Alvarez same, now i'm a full out fan with 3 cd albums..
+Jonathan Alvarez when does this song play in ghostbusters?
Jacob Storey faintly in the background while their eating chinese food before their call to bust slimer.
we have got one!!!
I had that soundtrack as a kid and this was hands down my fav song.
Brilliant backing band.
Alanah Currie threw her drum sticks into the crowd and one of them broke my pinkie finger. A small price to pay. It's dangerous out there but worth it
Now that’s what I call 80s when it was early 2000s this was in one of the 💿 cds
Love All Those New Wavers In The Crowd!
Nice bass.
Too bad the backing musicians are almost hidden as they create the magic live
1983....wish the Into The Gap Live was on dvd...and the full singles collection too...
Hump into one of the TT Facebook groups, theres tons of videos and singles etc, just ask in the groups :)
Viva os anos 80!!!
GOOD TIMES!!!!
I flew to Liverpool in 86 to see this concert, loved it, good times
Not trying to be an ass here but you would have missed this concert by 3 years.... try 1983 :)
I just see a whole crowd of people moving at the same time
it was 1983, not 1986 :))
Original release in 1981!
rooooocking it!!!!
Brilliant performance !!!

Hey you,
I've seen your face before
It's you in the picture which hangs on my bedroom wall
Is it true? All of those things that they say about you
So tell me, tell me, tell me what am I supposed to do
In the name of love, yeah
In the name of love
In the name of love, yeah
In the name of love
Well it's fun to think that I'm having the time of my life
And it's true if all this around us is paradise, paradise, paradise, paradise
But now I want to be left here with nothing at all
Even the picture has fallen away from the bedroom wall
In the name of love, yeah

If only the crowd could bounce a little more during the chorus right?
😂
This is from 1983 not 1986.
Does the rest of the concert video have any shots of Joe?
This was more likly 1984
Does anyone know who played bass on this tour? Saw 'em live this guy was AMAZING!
His name's Andrew Bodnar. He played with Graham Parker & The Rumour, Elvis Costello, The Pretenders, and others in addition to the Thompson Twins live band for this tour.
Marc Chaplin
83 not 86
1983 not 86
Пушка!
That wasnt 1986
Too bad the backing musicians are almost hidden as they create the magic live
Two of them at least went on to play with lots of others.
@@davidcappa5692 I hope they were given more credit. Drummer Boris Williams went to The Cure.
*1983

definitely not 1986.....sorry
I saw their last concert ever in Ft. Lauderdale Florida in 1986 or 1987. There were maybe 100 people, sadly. Tom Bailey draws a much bigger crowd NOW, lol.
Dull.
