I've got a CD28 that I've owned since 1993. But, I took it out of the water in 2002, on a trailer that I modified, to build my house. Unfortunately, my boat never made it back in the water. Still sitting on its trailer in my back yard. I've kept it covered so it is still in good condition. But thanks to your videos I've committed myself to get it back in shape and back in the water. Your videos have given me allot of good ideas and motivation. Thanks Sam
You prolly dont care at all but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Maxton Rene thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Oh my gosh!! The color You mixed is just beautiful!! I cannot wait to see the Pickled Herring all done. I was thinking while watching this, that some people that own Boats never do one third of the work you have done to their boat. Great job, Sam. Your boat is going to look awesome!
Working on a boat and sailing are two separate hobbies. I have no idea why would you think participating in both is a necessity or even anything of noteworthiness. Why anyone not doing a third of Sams work to their boat would be a valuable information? I know a couple of people who work on their boats for decades and never had them in water. One doesn't even plan on putting one in the water.
@@NGC1433 wow. You tead so much into what i said. Why so butthurt about a simple comment on youtube anyway? Dude, seriously. I meant no offense, and im sorry if i bruised your ego. SMH
@@brianbarnes7774 You are funny... You did not bruise anything. I am just genuinely curious how your logic works. Of course there are people who never do any work on their boats. There are people who buy boats for hundreds of millions of dollars and never even bother to visit them once. Not even thinking of doing anything on them, even bringing the trash out of there. So what? Then on the other part of spectrum there are people who build beautiful boats from scratch, from ground up and never sail them, just sell. World is full of people and boats and all sorts of different interactions between them happen. I am really glad we have awesome dudes like Sam here. But we also have awesome dudes like the owner of megayacht Dilbar, who I doubt has done anything to his boat personally, but he has done amazing stuff like bought a rare WW2 medal at an auction for several million dollars(most of the proceeds went to charity) and gave that medal back to the veteran right there on the spot. And donated hundreds of millions of US dollars to corona research. I don't get it, how working or not working on your boat some proportion of somebody other working on their boat contains any valuable information? Somebody cannot imagine their life without getting paint and resin all over themselves, somebody just loves sailing so much that they will sacrifice their entire life to overcoming hurdles that arise from small budget, somebody chooses to spend the time with their family and support immigrants by paying them for their work. It's zero sum.

No whistling on the boat. The old superstition says it whistles up the wind and causes a storm, bad luck for sailors. I've enjoyed your videos, you have the best attitude.

The waterline is good to see how the boat is trimmed weightwise compared to the designed waterline but also from ashore you can be assured everything is ok just by how she sits in the water relative to the waterline.
Sam so cool to have a local news come an interview you. I hope your channel blows up. There's much to like following you. Peace from nor Cal. 50 east "O" S.F.
Great job , it looks really looks good . Boot stripes make the boat look lower in the water, also makes it easy to see how overloaded your boat is before you take off on a long cruise 👍😀
Sam Holmes, making news!! You are big time now! :-) Please keep the content coming. I'm living so vicariously through your vids! Would give anything to have the opportunity like yours! Wish you fair winds, Sam!
It was great to see you out on the water last Saturday. I am a fan of your channel and it was exciting seeing you in person. So excited that I yelled your name at waived at you before the start of the race! There is a gorgeous shot of the boat I crewed on (with me waiving at you again!) at minute 11:04!
Congrats on the local news story! I wish my local news showed more locals being awesome like you! Boat is looking great, and I really like the color choice!

Great job on the paint Job Sam! Your really starting to attract lots of attention to your channel. The sponsors will be lining up for your project. Soon you will be sailing in the GGR!!

Thanks. Painting at night ended up working out great because it gave me more time to work without the sun beating on it. It looks great the next day too.
the boot stripes are for letting you know how much weight your putting in and also letting you know if your taking on water. So that thick line up too the thin line is the weight factor and from that line to the red thin line is the water line. I'm sinking ..

Sam that sure is a pretty color of blue paint for Pickled Herring! I like the white transom and white boot strap. Very nicely done sir!
I think it’s required by law that all sailors are good whistlers
lol
In some places you would be asked to leave a boat if u whistled.
@@kennymartin3416 100%. You could be thrown overboard for such an offense. But I’m the captain so I whistle.
As long as you don't whistle in the grocery store while I'm shopping.....😁
I sailed with a skipper who said if you whistle onboard, you'll be walking home.
Great job , it looks really looks good . Boot stripes make the boat look lower in the water, also makes it easy to see how overloaded your boat is before you take off on a long cruise 👍😀
Row row paint your boat gently by the stream . Merrily merrily Life is but a dream
