thank you to the previous owner......... your generosity made a big difference in Sams future --- to have the capability to give is a wonderful thing. Merry Christmas!
I had to give away a 28' sail boat. Nobody wanted to buy it even for half nothing. But I needed to clear the back yard to make a real estate operation. So bye!
You are rich from what you give more than what you own. That why all billionaires are poor.
@@lorenzoblum868 All ??
Merry Christmas. Each one of your videos is like opening a well wrapped gift. Always a delight, helpful, hopeful. Have a happy new year winter sailing getting good at new ways to sail. I'd say you may do well to have a separate instructional vid channel: riding the winds of change.
@@rhett7716 you might get rich with hard labor and persistency but you only become filthy rich through criminal activities.
Congrats Sam you made it! You look just like Shaggy from Scooby Doo! 🙂
Zoinks
Rut roh
😂😂😂😂😂😂 that’s where I recognize him from……. Scooby dooby do……..
Chinkies!
Rooby Roo !! 😂
Sam's newfound skill seems to be getting free boats
He needs more boats, can only drill so many holes in the one he has now. 😂
It's the charm, works every time.
And giant battery banks.... and refrigerators... lol
It ain't completely free cause he's gonna spend some time and money on it... We'll see how much.
Right? I don't even live far from Titusville and all the free boats I find are hurricane damaged boats that aren't seaworthy and need thousands of dollars just to float.
As a previous Bayfield owner for 17 years I can safely say she never let me down. The Gozzards build an amazing boat. You are going to learn to trust her as much as you trusted the "Herring". Just a tip, my loose tiller was a simple shaft key failure. Sail on Sam, we are all crewing with you in our minds.
@PaulDononvan, I have been researching these boats as a bluewater sailer and would like to know if they are as heavily built and dependable as reported ,handle heavy weather and offshore work well?
@@ronv6637 I had mine offshore here in NC and she brought me home in 6 to 8 foot swells. Everything aboard was overbuilt and super strong. Great 9horse Yanmar, harken self tailing winches, all lines and halyards led aft to a roomy cockpit. Can you tell I miss that boat ?
@@handygrandpa Thanks for the response,I need to get aboard one to see if it feels right
Yeah, it looks pretty simple layout, which is best for dependability.. Tiller is real real nice and simple on a 29 footer.
Main sail is fine dude, broken in sail is excellent for light, med, heavy winds. Learn how too trim it. Stitch up and repair loose thread. A soft sail in light winds when you get the luff just right, coming in off the Genny you'll feel her accelerate.
Invest in stuff that will make your time aboard comfortable and economical
A freezer, osmosis water, cock pit cushions and enclosure, zodiac dingy. Take all the wood stuff off, refinish, re bed everything. Service clean winches. Replace all the lexan windows, (deep tint is nice) and rebed.
Scrub, scrub, scrub, the deck and hull and seal buff with wax.
Check thru hull fittings, rebed, replace.
I like your thinking for not installing a new motor, if anything you could go with a outboard hook up, that could double as a tender on the dingy.
That's a lot of elbow grease, that will make you quite content of your little home.
Switch all your lighting to leds.
Very nice boat.
Don't waste your money on crap.
Organize your projects, expenses, keep a log, and be..... Very satisfied when you go back and see what you accomplished.
speak for yourself, i'm scared of the open ocean
Sam is always the optimist sailor. Can’t wait till next video!
That's clearly a sloop, not an optimist.
@@RubyDoobieScoo Cutter!
pretty easy to be optimistic when you get free boats... but hey, i'll keep my fingers crossed. maybe one day...
What a generous soul the previous owner is. Sam will have that ship shape in no time.
What an increadable offer from previous owner. Such generosity is awsome. I am sure he will take great pleasure watching Sam's videos and knowing his old boat is in good hands and sailing to distant horizons.
Regards from South Africa
Or will Sam abandon it on a Bahamian island?
100% right about slip fees / value o' boat. Im in Puget Sound. Every year bunch come up. Free, $500. With everything. The monthly go 20, 30,40 ft. Increment. That one, $240,,,2022. Everett, wa. Thats why the 27,28 ft. are popular. 30 ft is a decent increase in$, for moorage.
Boat people are good people. Giving an useful boat away to Sam who will use it to make new adventures for all us to enjoy.
not to mention selling a boat with no motor and questionable condition gets more difficult by the day with the economy. Old owner is probably just happy they don't have to pay 400 bucks a month for a parking spot.
Congratulations Sam. The alcohol stove is dangerous . The flame in sunlight is invisible and I almost had a fire on two sailboats .The learning curve could turn out bad.
Your sailing videos were one of the biggest inspirations for getting a boat of my own.
As it turns out, I bought a Bayfield 32 myself in 2021, and I love it. They built these babies like tanks. Have fun with yours!
Bayfield seems to be a great design. Glad you're enjoying it!
I hope that you don't inspired about Sams's irresponsible behaviour in Bear Island, he didn't respect laws and orders at all.
@Pat Luxor Is Sam Judge Dred!?! Whou. You can learn something new every day if you keep your mind (and internet connection) open. I think that if Sam/Judge Dred make some videos about Mega-City One and job of street-judge, this would be VERY interesting. Hmm, and very graphic too, I don't believe that youtube tolerate that kind of content. But I'm very appreciated information about Sam's second profession, thank you. PS. Is Lex Luthor your kin?
My favorite part of the video was the sponsored content. I think I would be exactly the same, not super comfortable with saying what they want me to say in the way they want me to say it. And the Easter egg for anybody reading this is to take a look at the description. He copy and pasted the text they sent him including the stuff that wasn't meant to be pasted. I love it!
I was thinking the same thing! Definitely loved how he did exactly what they wanted but not the way they wanted haha
Oh wow, how exciting is that! Congratulations on the sweet boat. It’s in great shape and very clean. Let the adventure begin!!⛵️
So excited about you starting this new adventure.
Nice boat! have fun boarding. Merry Christmas
Congratulations on your new boat!
I am looking forward to your next adventure.
You rock, Sam! I love your enthusiasm for stuff like this, it’s awesome.
Awesome, nice to see good people catching a decent break.
That’s awesome! Congrats on the new boat. I hope to see you there sometime. I go to the park at that marina to walk and fish quite often. Can’t wait for more videos with the new boat and see how you set her up. And definitely a thank you to the previous owner’s generosity. Very cool
Thanks for sharing Sam. Never let the adventures stop. I'm dealing with negative temp's snow and ice but I still love it. Forward. Enjoyed the video.
Another great Sam Holmes Sailing update. Needs a little work but over all you scored a pretty nice little boat for the Winter. That catamaran you have was pretty sweet as well. You are amassing a nice little fleet. Thanks for sharing!
A free boat. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Merry Christmas to you and your love one's.
Gonna be a great project with loads of vlog content from New adventures, Sam. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 matey.
Congrats on the find and thanks to the previous owner for his generosity!
I love stuff like this! Been following the channel for awhile and when you take a look at the boat, you might see it in rough condition but there's so much potential. Cleaning, boat projects, moving your own stuff and your own gear on board, figuring out what needs working on, I don't own a boat yet but I swear that half the fun would be projects and prepping! I love the whole idea of following the dream on a budget! It shows it can be done with determination and enginuity.
The interior is very clean and mold free!
Welcome to Bayfield Nation!! Bayfields are very well built boats, you'll love it! I live on my B25 and it's great.
Best sailing channel by a mile, so authentic!
Whatever good things come this guy's way is totally deserved. Great positive attitude for a clean cut level headed guy. Good luck out there brother
Great overall inspection. nice of the owner to give it to you.. (obviously a fan )
That’s cool. Many, many years ago there was a pretty new 29 bayfeild boat in Quebec called captain crunch. It was very stiff and liked a good blow. Solid boat, loads of room, and dependable. Enjoy.
congratulations. looking forward to watching your new journey
I think this is a really great thing to do for the owner. He or she will get to see their old boat sail all the time on RUclips! And giving it to someone that will use it well and take care of it.
I love these free boat/fix up/and sail video series.
Keel masts are best, especially if you run aground and need to come off the shoal broadside from towing at the top of the mast. And the mast is always less likely to snap off when it's in the keel. Nice freebie.
Sam is getting blessing from companies and people I think because he is a good person and he is very smart and happy soul. Good luck Sam with the new boat.
Wow! I bet you feel like you just stepped into a dream come true! As my Aussie friends says, "good on ya, mate". I can almost feel you giggle inside. Enjoy her and give her a great name
Glad you took it...looks really well..nice of the previous owner to give you it. Can't wait to see you kit it out and on some waves.
Great video! Hope to find a boat like that when the time comes. Can’t wait to see your adventures this winter!
Can’t wait to see you work your magic on this boat.
That was a very good demonstration of how properly to look over a boat. Admirable as ever.
I'm super excited to see the future videos on this boat. I have a bayfield 30/32. I'm waiting patiently here... jus waiting...
Good luck with the new boat, it looks real nice.
congratulations Sam our new Sail Boat its beautiful the best of luck
You are correct about that style of seacock. The boat is not too full of junk, a rarity on older boats.
Sweet! I just got a Bayfield 29; can't wait to see what you can do with yours!
I love your attitude. I swear the planet could blow up and you wouldn't get upset, you would just ride your piece through space and enjoy the trip. 🙂
Hi Sam, I don't get to watch a whole lot of videos but I try to catch up on you once in awhile. I am hoping that your last surgery was a complete success because that was the one that got me started watching your building and sailing videos. So many people would feel completely handicapped, but not you, you go and sail alone to Hawaii. Hmmm..... I am not a water person, kayaking a class2 and less river is about as far as I go, but you are a true inspiration because of how you simply move forward in your life. May you always be safe and have peace Sam. I was young once and rode dirt bikes out in the mountains alone a lot. My mom would have fits, so I would always kiss her and hug her and tell her, If once I don't come back, you have to remember I was doing what I love the most when I got called home. I will abide the same for you Sam. For now I will watch what I can of your travels.
What a nice find, after 30 years, looking to get another boat. Lived year round on my 36' Bayfield for 5 years in Toronto. Diesel heater kept it nice and toasty in the winter.
Looks like this could be a lot fun . Keep it moving .
That is a nice little project for you. I hope to see you and your brother sail it and see the projects you do on it.
I had a Bayfield 36 cutter from 2013 to 2020. The 29 is of course smaller. Excellent construction. Made in Canada. Boatyard was destroyed by fire so they are no more. Good luck Sam on the first of the two most happy days in a man’s life. Godspeed!
Congrats!!!! I am excited for you Sam!!!!
We spent almost a year in Titusville. I would recognize that Amel, in front of dry storage at Westland Marina, anywhere. We coverted our Legend 40 to electric in that yard. An Electric Yacht QT10 would be a perfect option for that boat. You could place the battery bank in the quarter berth.
Hey Sam, just came across your channel and now binge watching to get caught up. I am in central Florida and have been many of the same places I see on your channel. I was a avid sailor myself for years and grew up racing my 14 ft Hobie in local fleets here on the inland lakes. Just sold my 36 ft Catalina that I kept at Pasadena Marina near Clearwater. I have got out of sailing all together but now after watching your videos I think the spark has ignited once again. I really am thinking of another Catamaran. Thanks again for the inspiration and great videos.
Congratulations on your new boat Sam and at a rock bottom price too...free! Enjoy.
Very cool! A free sailboat...you know what they say..."Good things come to good people. And I can tell you're a very nice person. Happy sailing.
Congratulations! The boat looks like it is in great condition, a great find.
I’m always nervous about “free” boats but with your skills this looks like a very doable project for you. Looking forward to the next video. Rob
I hope to get back to my boat this spring. A steady string of injuries has had me land locked not able to even touch it for going on 3 years now. With some luck this spring I'll be able to finish the bottom paint and get it put in the water. I really like the idea of the solar generator as a power supply.
Quite clever layout of interior. Hope it sails just as clever. Sam now can share some new adventures thanks to the generosity of previous owner. Love this chanel for it's always positive approach.
Great video! And what a great gift from the previous owner! Its a beautiful boat. I'm planning on purchasing a sailboat and move to Maryland to live aboard. Never sailed before, its something I always wanted to do. I dont want the years to pass me by, and end up with regrets. Im looking at Catalina 27-30 footers. However this one has a beautiful layout! Bless you with your new boat, may you have many years of voyages ahead filled with happiness and smooth sailing.
Grew up sailing a Bayfield 32 on Lake Erie. Really solid boat. Took a good breeze to move it but it rode nicely in this choppy lake.
what a fab previous owner sam.....enjoy your new boat
Very nice old Bayfield, should be a fun boat to sail especially in the Bahamas and Keys. Looking forward to seeing you sail her. What a great find!
Sam, Thank you for being an inspiration. Last summer I did my very first solo. As I was sailing along the south coast of Cape Cod headed for my anchorage for the night in Waquoit Bay, I mentioned both you and Kevin of How to Sail Oceans as inspiration. Your positive attituded and sailing skills are such a great roll model. I learn from both you and Kevin. Thank you! (Restoring Little Girl)
Congratulations on a new boat
Its bringing back memories!! 1985 Georgian Bay. Sailing my Bayfield 32. We are talking luxury. Elegance actually.
Bayfields were always one of my favourites. Getting one free, well that's icing on the cake.
You are definitely a free spirit. Safe travels my friend
Right on ! What a great boat !
Can’t wait for your next adventure!
Congratulations on your new boat. Looks like a good candidate for an electric sail dive similar to what is powering SV UMA. Best wishes.
My Dad loved his Bayfield 25 . A little small for me, but he sailed that guppy everywhere.
Congrats on the Bayfield! Love the channel. I just got a Bayfield 25 myself :)
Congratulations Sam
Hey Sam , always living vicariously through you LoL . Happy new year !
Wow what a cool find! You are the dude to bring the boat up to speed!
Cool video. Look forward to seeing how u outfit / sail the boat as well as how u use it just to live in.
Sam could make an award winning video on the life of dead leaves.
Thanks again for sharing.
Happy Holidays Sam! Congrats on your new boat.
Dude! Your in my home port! Welcome. I saw that boat just recently. Come by the city marina on Friday night! We'll feed ya.
Awesome boat , looks pretty shipshape and a lovely donation. Hope the motor is strong enough to overcome tidal currents when your heading in and out of port
Wow.. congrats! and That EcoFlow charger is a lifesaver
Love that lidar scan. There’s great things you can do with that technology
Congratulations Sam can’t wait to see y’all in Mexico!
Congratulations on your getting your home in Florida.
Wow that’s areal nice boat for free! Can’t wait to see where you sail it.
What a surprise! Congratulations, we were in Titusville and the space center last week, hanging out in Velcro beach for Christmas. S/V CLARA. All the best
Congratulations Sam! Well deserved 😎
SAM- free boat specialist! :) nice work! new adventures!
Love the Bayfield, hopefully back in the saddle again soon!
WOW - very nice for a free boat. I think I'd work on the seals and make sure everything is tight first. AWESOME deal!
From Titusville, but live in the UK...my friend and husband live on a sailboat in the same marina (Terri)!! Brilliant to see home, safe sailing!
I discovered your channel maybe 22 hours ago what a joy.
Good catch on the boat! You got your work cut out for you, but I am sure its nothing you cannot handle, all the best!
Two free boats in a row! Looks like you’re right on your path.
So happy for you Sam boats and Rv’s don’t do well just sitting glad to see you can put this boat back into action.Looking forward to your future content have a merry Xmas!
Thanks for sharing your interesting life and adventures.
I kept a boat at Westland for years! It was a great place back in the day. Went through 3 hurricanes there in 2004!
I'm just getting into sailing. I woke one day and said I wanted to sail the seas. I haven't been able to get it off, my mind. Pretty sweet. You got a new boat and a new sub wicked video !
Nice video. Expanding the fleet!!
