If you are trying to remove crankshaft pulley bolt we will show you how we do it and it works every time so far. It is very important not to turn the engine counter clockwise on most modern vehicles because they have complicated timing chains or belts and variable valve timing. On manual transmission car we found it helpful if we put the car in gear and one person hold the brake pedal, that way you can use the impact and the engine will not spin counterclockwise. NEVER START THE ENGINE!!!
We used Dewalt 6 gallon compressor and it did the job for us.

Thanks for the tip on tightening the bolt slightly. I had to do it a couple of times and then the bolt came right out. Saved my day. Thanks
It seems the reason why the bolt wouldn’t loosen the first two time is because you was tightening the bolt. You can see the pulley rotating clockwise. So the third time you had the impact gun rotation in the correct direction… anti clockwise.

Simple, you need only the Milwaukee 2767-20 impact gun. Takes crankshaft pulley out like it wasn't even on there
What if I've already removed and started disassembling the engine?
What about if the harmonic balancer turned while loosing it should you put the chain back on its mark?
I'm thinking to drill and tap this one out on my 1997 Honda Accord, impact gun rounded the 6 points of the bolt head

what about an automatic?
This is good, however having it in gear and foot in the brake does not work for an automatic.

What about automatic transmission Z18XER, how did you lock the engine from turning when reinstalling the crankshaft bolt and torquing it?
Being in park would lock it up and putting your foot on the break if you have someone to help you
Just mark the bolt before removing it and then impact it back on. Simple.

they are easy way pully bolt the motor on the side way the tool one 1' impact use for 18 wheel for tire change
A one inch impact is 1000+ dollars to remove one bolt

Lmao you were going the wrong way taking the crank pulley off
i took my car to a repair shop with 40 years experience and they could not remove the crank pulley bolt on a 1997 Honda accord, They rounded the bolt of and cracked 2 impact sockets tying to remove it,,, did the acetylene torch trick, tried freezing the bolt too, nothing worked,,, more the bolt head is rounded off,,,and it's still stuck on there,,, so much for a simple timing belt repair,,, anybody have a solution?

So that little tit that the pulley slides onto broke when I put the pulley back on. Is that little piece threaded or do I have to replace the entire crankshaft ??
What lil tit? are you talking about a keyway? It shouldn't have one of those but if it does the tit that came off you put back in after you put the pulley back on !! It keeps your timing from slipping!
