      Ball was the goal point of attack on offense and defense as a pure point guard. Considering he got better as a spot up shooter, he was close to being an AS.

    Mike Korzemba showed an interview comment that Lonzo said the Baller Brand shoes caused severe damage to his feet and that LaMelo refused to ever use them. This factor can't be underestimated. Lavar ended up doing more harm than good at this rate.

      @@PhenomRom Wrong footwear can affect your whole legs. Years of high-impact action can do damage without it being visible. The Lakers themselves were concerned the shoes were negatively affecting him.

      Yea he really brought back that Rondo old school vibe which is what made me start watching basketball again, without Lebron and Lonzo the league to me is just not appealing idgaf about one on one plays, isolation, the same dribbles and step back replicas. we need more of that old school back, either really athletic, passers, Fadeaway jump shooters, dominators in the paint hook shots..it’s all gone now almost.

    Man I wanted Lonzo on my Bulls since he was drafted. When we actually got him I was so happy about it. Not only did we have him, the team was playing their ass off. We had the 1 seed! I wish him the best and hope he can make it back.

    Came out last year that Lonzo had gotten a PRP injection in that same knee after his rookie year. That's a rare thing for a 20 year old to need and in hindsight a really bad sign. Lots of people wondered why the Pelicans didn't want to hold on to him but I guess they saw something bad coming.

      He’s likely lost a ton of speed and explosiveness. I’d hate to see him getting cooked like John Wall after he came back (I watched some scrimmages were Drummond ran circles around him). Although his passing skills should be the same his days of playing as a lead guard are over. If he can knock down open jumpers, and make the correct pass there’s still a place for him in the league (anything else is a bonus).

    Some things not discussed are his shoe Brand BBB created by his father we're not basketball ready. He has an interview saying his shoes would tear multiple times a game, which caused injury issues. Additionally if you watch how he LANDS on the ground after a jump shot... One foot impacts before the other, and you can see his knee impact.

      I think Lonzo did that to get out of the contract with BBB. Stronger and shiftier players have played with Brand Black shoes and had no issues. He also had injury issues prior to the shoes and after.

    the most striking example of raised-by-narcissists that I can think of. Lavar sacrificed his sons' childhoods, careers, and health (mental and physical) so that he could finally amount to something, and be in the limelight.
    Lamelo is still only 21 and has already missed significant time due to injury. He'll be lucky to avoid a similar fate as Lonzo by 25.

    This is some sad news for Lonzo Ball if true. But he's well off financially (he will get the rest of his NBA contract money) so he can easily move into coaching, training or other outside business endeavors if he wishes.

    The mistake was how they played him spot playing is never the answer in La and NOLA they never really played him consistent stretches. They would do 2 mins sit 3 mins sit 8 mins sit then 4 mins sit. Nobody wins that way its impossible. Its honestly why Kawhi gets hurt.

    I'm a HUGE lonzo fan, i hope he over comes this. But this is just another example of how damaging AAU basketball is on kids bodies as they're developing. Playing 2-3 games in one day is hurting alot of guys. I truly believe that. No other reason why this generation of players is so frail compared to past generations when they have ALL this technology & advantages that older players didn't have. Add that these new players also have skills trainers & play their sport year round when most professionals don't even do that. It's not healthy and their bodies are not resting/developing.

      Back then guys with durability problems were weeded out before they made the league. I can think of some exceptions like Danny Manning, Charles Smith, Kevin Johnson, Rik Smits, Larry Johnson, Penny, Grant Hill, etc. They were heavily featured before injuries caught up to them. Zo was still developing, and as another commenter said genetics likely played a huge role in it.
