Archie Goodwin really had the tools to be a star, but straddled that line between too good to stay and develop them, and leave for a potential once in a lifetime opportunity. He at least got the chance, but timing and circumstances in Phoenix caused him to be out the league too soon.
Damn. It sounds insane when you first think about it, but you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Considering less than 5000 players have been in the NBA and how many millions in history have picked up a basketball, just by pure math terms, it makes sense. Which is why when I think of people like Anthony Bennett (whose bum ass got drafted number 1), I think of him being a bad basketball player, but he'll probably beat my ass in basketball 😂
As a Suns fan. We did Archie, Josh Jackson and Chriss a disservice. There was too much dysfunction and lack of leadership on the Suns at that time. They were all talented and could've been better players with better development.
You’re not wrong but JJ made bad off the court decisions and Chriss showed no willingness to improve. All had potential and you’re right with proper leadership could’ve improved, it’s not all on the organization
Being from Little Rock, he was one of the first guys I looked up to. Before Bobby Portis, Malik Monk, Moses Moody and Nick Smith Jr. He was a lot of hoopers around my age’s inspiration.
As a Kentucky fan I really liked Archie & always thought had he came back one more year & played with that 2013 class his pro career may have played out different. He would have played on a better team in turn would have made him better then been a higher pick landed in a more ideal spot to develop. Suns were too guard heavy
I remember a few years ago he was in a pro am that my cousin was in and he shot an air ball. Someone yelled out, "who shot that shit?" Someone replied "Archie!" Then someone said, "awe hell naw how is he in the league shooting like that?" Them dudes in Little Rock really hoop all day
I'm good friends with a dude who went to high school and played ball with Archie. Heard a lot about Archie's talents around the time he made the league. Wish him the best!
I'll never forget when I played my friend in 2k12 or 13 and I was going off with Goodwin and he had a posterizer dunk and my friend yelled out "MAN, HE NOT EVEN THAT GOOD YET!!!" Lmao
Another factor is the arrival of the most hyped recruiting class in Kentucky led by Julius Randle and Harrison Twins. I heard that he was leaning toward staying like Alex Poythress but due to them.
Shooting 64% from the line and under 30% from three in college is not a smooth jumper.. Durant is also 7ft and Goodwin is 6’5.. and Durant is a tremendous shooter. Bad comparison. Goodwin was a better athlete than skill player, but he wasn’t a good enough shooter or creator for others to stick in the league
Lonzo ball is not stunted growth I hate you niggas lmao. He avgs 16 and 6 that's a decent player. Not every player is going to a be a star it's not stunted growth being a good player. Lonzo was never going to ve the next magic, yall niggas just followers and be on a hype train. When he got drafted I said D Angelo Russell is going to have a better career and I'm a Laker fan
@charleskerby9602 Yeah, but I think that broken shot was a growth stunt, and the spotlight and the unnecessary media hype & his dad putting a target on him can be looked at as another growth stunt, but the injuries did him in
@@furrellpiere8930 he was excelling before injuries and that’s me being honest I’m not a big fan of Lonzo or his game but injuries are it. He was one of the best two way players I can think of (talking latter end of his career, Chicago)
@@lefty206 That's exactly why he needs a feature...because YOU have no clue who he is. There were two John Williams. I'm specifically asking about Hot Plate Williams. Google him, Chuck!!!!
I can’t flawg bro u be throwing me with what u be sayin , you shit on guys for bein 6’4 6’3 two guards but say this guy at 6’5 can play point shooting and small forward ? Why he ain’t undersized for the 3 then ? Aren’t those guys 6’7 and up ?
Goin by yo knowledge 1-2 inches is a huge difference in what position u playing when the whole league is postionless , the raptors won a title with a 6’0 back court 🤣🤣

You should do Josh Jackson #StuntedGrowth
Love your videos how about raptors first pick Andrea?
Roy hibbert please.
Do one on Royce White
Do Ben mclemore
If you make the league you are most definitely one of the best basketball players in history

I went to school with him, a year older. Dude was windmill dunking in 9th grade. And a cool dude off the court too.

Potential is like close it only counts in horseshoes.
SAW ARCHIE IN HIGH SCHOOL. HIM & TORREY BUTLER PUT ON A SHOW 💯
Let’s get a Royce White stunted growth dude was a beast
I used to use him as my sixth man in 2K14, Giannis and he were the youngest in their draft class ('13)
Here in Central Arkansas, we heard that Coach Cal pretty much made him leave after one year due to the Freshmen coming in.
Which is understood Cal was bringing in elite level guards for years
That's what Val does he tell you to leave to get to the 2nd contract faster
And thats why he should not have went to Kentucky
@@kingtau I definitely don’t agree with the whole 1 and done thing because a lot of guys just float round the league for years like Michael Beasley
No shit...lol It's Kentucky...they ship them in and ship them out every year.
I went to high school with Archie(A1). Played football with him he was quarterback 8th grade . That’s my guy. Much love bro
I love your content man can you do one on CJ Fair is my favorite Syracuse I don't know why you didn't like the NBA
How about CJ Leslie outta Raleigh Nc that played for Nc state
For some weird reason I was always pulling for dude
Me too
i lived next door to archie for a few years... suns culture at the time and off court probably did him in
I swear he was next up at Kentucky 🔥 bro was cold
He was fun to watch at Kentucky 🏀

My best friend since 6th grade. Sylvans hills
i Remember seeing this dude on WAGS tv show lol
Good vid like always 👊🏽 appreciate you bruh
Great player
Wow I remember him being crazy on 2k
I thought at least he would have been a scoring bench player
That phoenix squad was the most Athletic team I’ve ever witnessed.
Do Tony Mitchell next drafted 2nd round 37pick by the Pistons.
this a good one fasho I thought bro was we gonna be nice in the league
I love your vids man, but why do go for 3 minutes, just to start over and repeat yourself?
went to tha same high school as him & all. bruh was tha real deal
