I live in Vancouver...My University coach worked for the Grizz...We got mad free tickets. Shareefs talents were wasted on a mismanaged team destined to fail. The infrastructure they left behind benefited the Vancouver basketball community. Their practice facility in Richmond BC was state of the art at the time. We were able to train there...Back to 'Reef, him and Bibby were a great pair but otherwise they never got any players with real upside. He was a victim to the phenomenon known as Vincanity across Canada...Respect for this...I commented before even watching lol 👊🏾

So true. Shareef was a legit 1 and done. He was an outstanding player during his freshman yr at Cal. I live in Memphis and most of the late games on ESPN would be the Pac 10(sometimes the WAC and Big West). It's a shame it didnt work out in Vancouver.🏀🏀 I visited Van city in Aug 1987 when i was in the Navy and loved it, one of my favorite ports. Even though I'm glad we(Memphis)got an NBA team, I'm also aware that the Grizz were mismanaged from the very beginning. I knew Stu Jackson made horrible basketball decisions and the ownership was shaky. Michael Heisley bought the team and lied about keeping the team in Vancouver. As soon as the team moved to Memphis, they cleaned house. I wish we could've kept Shareef though but he was part of the Pau Gasol trade. We saw Big Country play in Memphis for 2 preseason games!🤦🏾‍♂🤦🏾‍♂I was at his last game ever(vs Miami Heat). They bought him out and Big country retired.
