Natalie should've won an Oscar for this. She did a good job, and her voice was perfectly in sync with Jackie's. She sounds just like her. At least in my opinion she did. I know there are some people who don't think so, and that's fine. Everyone has a right to their own opinion.
Her accent and speech work are absolutely mind blowing. Her ability to recreate even the exact pacing and canter of Jackie's speech is just incredible.
I was really disappointed in the hair. They should have done wigs. Natalie's hair is too thin and Jackie's bouffant bob was thick and fierce! Natalie was also too perky about the eyes - Jackie always seemed dull, but pleasant.
The Oscars were an absolute disgrace. Emma Stone in a very silly musical beat this? The bathroom scene (after the assassination) was gut wrenching, and the voice? Remarkable. You were cheated Natalie.
I wasn't born at this time, in fact my Mom wasn't even born yet and my dad was just 1 month old. I'm saying this because I don't know how it was at that time during the nation's feelings about JFK's assassination. However, this video itself it so poignant in showing that not only did Natalie Portman do a stellar job in the movie but also the emotion of the mourning that it seems most of the country was going through let alone Jackie and their loved ones. She didn't crumble in public, though I'm sure in private when she was alone she let all that go but, my my my, what a strong woman she was to stand up and show the nation and even the world the kind of woman, wife and mother she was. John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr, may they all rest in peace.
Natalie perfectly captured Jackie’s emotion when a new president was being sworn in only minutes after she lost her husband and father to the children. It’s heart shattering.
Some of y’all in the comments really expected Natalie to shape-shift into Jackie tf… ofc the performance isn’t going to be 100% accurate because thats not physically possible !? She did an amazing job with what she had.
I’m amazed - the actor who plays JFK looks EXACTLY like him, is attractive and hot as was the real one, and has the same charisma as him. I would’ve loved to see him more in the movie.
Natalie Portman nailed this. She definitely won the Oscar in my eyes. Watching these scenes, side by side, is absolutely haunting. Every inch of her is perfectly mimicking Jackie. So eerie. If that isn't acting at is best, what is?
Natalie body language and dialogue deliver is commendable but does anyone feels Natalie is playing tad more self conscious than real Jackie? Jackie here looks far more in control
yes, that's because it is a dramatization. The director wants you to know what's really going through the character's head and heart. The scene main goal is not be an exact copy (although it tries to be as possible as it can be) - but to tell part of the story.
Jackie was raised in a very different time, came from impeccable breeding, and was the quintessential lady. It's no surprise why JFK picked her, she was a perfect choice for first lady/politicians wife. They're both acting, but Natalie is showing the vulnerability that Jackie can't show onscreen.

@@JuanSanchez-uw6eu To have something to copy or read from is simple. But to actually become the character, that takes talent. She became Jacqueline Kennedy. Without even a slight resemblance of her, she made us believe she was Jacqueline Kennedy. That's a master at her craft.
@@JuanSanchez-uw6eu I always hated that she lost this Oscar to Emma Stone in "LaLa Land". She also gave a really good performance but it didn't even touch Natalie Portman's in "Jackie". I'd like to think it was her best performance. Even more so than in "Black Swan". But what do I know, I'm just a movie dork... 😅😅
She mastered the voice and also the tone and feeling behind the words all at once. That would be so insanely difficult when you need to think about hitting your mark and staying in the right light, etc. Props to Natalie Portman.
Actually, if you listen closely to the real Jackie, she does sound kind of breathless and Monroe-esque. Natalie Portman's Jackie gets the cadence more or less right, but not the timbre of the voice. On the whole though, the accent and enunciation sound painfully affected and stilted. Also, her face is way too animated and she comes across as having a lot of nervous energy. The real Jackie comes across as even-keeled, slightly stiff, and rather placid. Not a huge fan of Portman as an actress anyway. She's a decent performer, but...not one of the greats. Emma Stone is a far superior actress I think.
I think you're right about the energy. It is that which makes her not quite Jackie, there was something very calm and still about Jackie beneath the surface. Perhaps it was that which allowed her to weather the storms she went through in life.
This is one of Natalie Portmans greatest performances since Black Swan, she has soo much raw emotion and dedication to the character. She was pitch perfect in the entire runtime. It's a real shame however that she didn't win best nomination for best performance, I hate the Oscars anyway. It felt like I was watching a real life documentary movie, all the acting is incredible. The video sync is mind blowing.
Really Excellent job Dimitrez! Thank you. I actually appreciate the movie a lot more now that I can see how much work was put into it to replicate the real thing.
Posture and gate are perfect. Voice is pretty spot on too. She pushes just so slightly with her intonation and facial movements, a few times, as if to say, “hey everybody, isn’t this a great Jackie O?” But it’s very very slight. Actors can’t help but to enjoy acting.
With television being around for so long and public figures having honed how to behave in front of a camera through years of experience, you don't really think about how daunting a recorded interview like this would have been. With it being relatively new technology/practice, there wasn't really much protocol on how to behave in front of a camera like that.
I think she did a great job of mimicking her mannerisms and voice inflections....not so sure about her demeanor though. Jackie is soft spoken, smiling, but face straight to the camera or to whomever she speaks - it’s locked dead on.....Natalie, on the other hand, does the chin low, almost like she’s trying to play it shy/vulnerable/delicate. Wonder if that was intentional so that viewers would feel some type of way? Or if it’s just how it naturally came out of Natalie’s performance?
I’ve always heard people praise Jackie Kennedy’s beauty but I just don’t see it. There were so many beautiful women of that time that I find beautiful too so I don’t think it’s just the beauty standard of the time.
I think Jackie was't what you'd call a "classic" beauty. She had a very unique/unusual face, but the overall appearance is very striking, in my opinion.
Same, I put down to some sort of charisma she must have had that isn't translated through the mediums she was shown in especially bc EVERYONE of "importance" that met her spoke of how beautiful, intelligent and overall impressive she was.
She was apparently quite charismatic, according to Aline, Countess of Romanones of Spain. Furthermore, the Countess recalls Mrs. Kennedy to be particularly popular with the gentlemen. (Not in an unseemly way, but in dinner conversation).
The timing and her dialect are amazing. She obviously worked quite hard on this role. I was 3 days old when the White House tour was broadcast. My parents tell me I was sitting with my father on our sofa the day of the assassination. I’ve visited the White House 8 times. Every visit was as exciting as the first. I recall thinking when I was standing in the cross hall, facing the north doors, as I looked from side to side, I could see the outside wall of the state dining room and looking to my right, could see the outside wall of the East room, that the White House wasn’t as large as everyone thinks. It’s such a beautiful home with so much history, I wish I could return someday. If any of you have the chance, it’s a place every American should visit.
Holy shit, how the hell did they manage 7:36?? It seems they do use actual old footage at some parts of the movie but that shot is clearly recreated, and I’ve never seen something so spot-on.
When I watched this movie I wondered if Jackie really talked like that so I had to look it up. I must say, I love Natalie in a ton of movies, but I don't think I've ever seen over acting to this extent by an A-list actress and especially her. To give her some credit it would be hard to pull that off without either under or over playing that part. And the score. I swear some part were lifted right out of "There will be Blood."
Jackie is very lucky to have her ply her in this role, I've seen so many ppl try to play her , but this is by far the best.. Very Nicely done!❤👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ms. Portman gets the voice altogether, but her affect (facial appearance) is entirely off. The director should have made more careful note of the facial visuals of Jackie Kennedy. Watch the comparison with the sound off. You'll see the same thing.
I watched it with the sound off, I like how you point this out! Yes, she fails to capture Jackie’s before-there-was-Botox freeze-smile. Portman at moments tilts her head to the side, opens her mouth wider, smiles bigger, and glance downcast more frequently, whereas Jackie isn’t nearly so animated. From the shoulders down Portman mimics the posture of the Jackie-as-Whitehouse spokesmodel, from the shoulders-up it's Natalie Portman with an accent.
I think it’s quite difficult to interpret JK. Although Nataly did a fantastic job, JK has this elegance and maybe naivety of women from the 60s, imposible to resemble by a 2010s actress.
People are saying these are so similar, but even when heavily edited they look extremely different. Both her facial expressions as well as her physical appearance looking nothing like her in my opinion. Their voices are very different as well.
This was an amazing movie, an interior portrait of a woman in exigency of distress, having to act her roles, both public and private, as she was obliged to leave her world in the White House. It's insightful and moving, and a tribute to Jackie herself, as it honors her courage. I think of Jackie as I watch this, not Natalie - the woman who actually lived, and the times I actually recall.
for everyone saying jackie was natural no she was not she was fake she made up her voice and everything about herself it was all an illusion and natalie was portraying that to the audience she wasn't trying to be exactly like Jackie she was trying to show the audience the inner struggle of jackie and she succeeded

I like Natalie but she was all wrong this part. She did not look, sound or act like Jackie in any way, shape or form. Jackie always had thick, coal black hair. At the very least, could they get a black wig and eyebrows.
Jackie Kennedy was such a one of a kind. Nobody does her any justice. Thats why she was the most unique First Lady there ever was and everyone tries to copy her.
Natalie made Jackie frightened not naturally comfortable. After comparing, Jackie was speaking with less expression and Natalie was speaking more wide eyed, scared, and larger mouth moving. She was at the casket longer too which made her sadder instead of comforting the child that Jackie did. She always held her composure, not show vulnerability in front of the public. She composed herself until she left the room. Its what people did back than. I wanted to see that side of her behind closed doors and away from people. In away, I felt depressed watching the movie so I didn't watch the whole thing since Natalie was portraying her differently, not like that classy, a bit shy, but confident, and elegant woman she was in front of people. Natalie made her scared of everything when in reality she left rooms with a smile every time and made people feel at ease until her passing. My boyfriend couldn't watch it either from us knowing Jackie was an icon that people looked up to, not just as John F. Kennedy's wife, the first lady but was a charitable person.
Natalie did fantastic as far as hitting the timing and the inflection of the words. However, she was a little jittery and nervous. Whereas the real Jackie Kennedy was a lot more "sure" and confident but still like a "perfect", bashful, sweet housewife.
Natalie Portman is unique as Natalie Portman and Jackie as Jackie. I don't think it is the role of her life. I don't think she was even the best choice for portraying Jackie.
It's crazy how Natalie spoke at the same exact time as the actual Jackie. She's incredible

I know the hair is a big difference, they could have done better.
natalie portman didn't look the part, nor was she acting it well. right off she looks nervous and timid as she speaks, unlike jackie
Totally agreed. Between everything, they seemed like entirely different people. I don't see why people say there are similarities.
Jackie's eyes never seemed dull - You must be crazy! She was a beautiful, fascinating, classy, bright, (and sexy), woman.
@@dme1016 i could tell that she was acting
The Oscars were an absolute disgrace. Emma Stone in a very silly musical beat this? The bathroom scene (after the assassination) was gut wrenching, and the voice? Remarkable. You were cheated Natalie.
Well anyone can win the Oscars nowadays just by being Woke and Slapping others on stage.
Facts.
Incredible. Poor Jackie. Very emotional.
Who was her accent coach? She bodied that accent omg
💖🥰💥🔥🥳🤩🤗
Best with headphones, right side real Jackie, left Natalie
Natalie body language and dialogue deliver is commendable but does anyone feels Natalie is playing tad more self conscious than real Jackie? Jackie here looks far more in control
yes, that's because it is a dramatization. The director wants you to know what's really going through the character's head and heart. The scene main goal is not be an exact copy (although it tries to be as possible as it can be) - but to tell part of the story.
Exactly it’s to show how she was feeling which I believe was spot on.
Jackie was raised in a very different time, came from impeccable breeding, and was the quintessential lady. It's no surprise why JFK picked her, she was a perfect choice for first lady/politicians wife. They're both acting, but Natalie is showing the vulnerability that Jackie can't show onscreen.
@@jasminecrawford42 very well-put.

Phillipson is quite convincing as JFK too. Even though he's a Danish actor, his accent and vocal impression is quite Good (in other material I've seen). I think this was playback lip sync though..
Michael Phillips lip sync, not impression
Jackie went through so much in the span of a few seconds. How she was able to take another step is beyond me. She was incredible
It's amazing how perfect and spot on with the voice it is with the real footage
This looks like a Vogue interview lmao
It does lol
@@krulside2737 don't it tho ? lol!
She was absolutely robbed of that Academy Award. Her performance was absolutely flawless.
She is a great actress, but if you have something to "copy" is a little easier still she was great
@@JuanSanchez-uw6eu To have something to copy or read from is simple.
The real thing sounds like she's on Xanax, and Portman looks too excited and talks like M.Monroe.
Deva7 hahaha! Jackies walk and Natalie's portrayal are awkward too.
Perhaps it was that which allowed her to weather the storms she went through in life.
sabichonex was agreeing with you upon until the end, Emma Stone can't act for shit, but to each their own I guess
I thought that about Natalie, she looks like she's trying so hard to mimic Jackie that it looks a bit off like she's very socially awkward
I believe that Mrs. Kennedy would have been very impressed by Natalie's re-enactment of her if she were still living.
Really Excellent job Dimitrez! Thank you. I actually appreciate the movie a lot more now that I can see how much work was put into it to replicate the real thing.
thanks! :)
My god! Natalie is perfect.
How on earth she didn't win an Oscar for this?
Well done! Happy to see that Jackie Kennedy's legacy will never be forgotten...
this is literally incredible. Its so in sync and when Natalie first started talking I thought I was hearing an overlap of Jackie.
Posture and gate are perfect. Voice is pretty spot on too. She pushes just so slightly with her intonation and facial movements, a few times, as if to say, “hey everybody, isn’t this a great Jackie O?” But it’s very very slight. Actors can’t help but to enjoy acting.
te fact they made the mansion the EXACT same amazes me
Fantastic job editing all of this together. I wish it was on the DVD!
SHE SYNC IT SO PERFECTLY DOWN WHY DIDNT SHE GET AN OSCAR I AM SO ANGRY
Her accent is so daunting
The real Mrs.Kennedy really made the White House the "People's House" with her welcoming personality and special touch.
Jackie must have had her suspicions, I think that is why she led out with the funeral entourage, to send a message that she was not afraid of them.
With television being around for so long and public figures having honed how to behave in front of a camera through years of experience, you don't really think about how daunting a recorded interview like this would have been. With it being relatively new technology/practice, there wasn't really much protocol on how to behave in front of a camera like that.
wow they sound just like each other, great job Natalie
Just discovered your channel and oh my goodness this is so satisfying
thank you! :)
The O.G. "Vogue's 73 Questions"
She doesn't look like her but she totally captured the very essence of her. Uncanny.
She doesn't have to look like her, i mean it's very impossible. Performance always matters
The scenes was so in sync .. great job to the production team and natalie portman..
That’s because she wasn’t beautiful imo
I think it was her elegance, style, being multi-lingual and her White House restoration project that mad people really love her.
Natalie did absolutely amazing. I have major respect for her after she played this role!
Amazing job Dimitri!
thanks! :)
Grungie Lucy fj
but waw kudos to the whole crew. they nailed every movement, every voice, every thing~
Holy shit, how the hell did they manage 7:36??
It seems they do use actual old footage at some parts of the movie but that shot is clearly recreated, and I’ve never seen something so spot-on.
They've re-enacted the scenes so well!!
10:34 just look at the comparison of trees at this scene 🤯 mind blowing
That's because they are both the same footage. The movie just colorized it.
Jackie is very lucky to have her ply her in this role, I've seen so many ppl try to play her , but this is by far the best..
Very Nicely done!❤👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
These channels about cinema are wonderful. Amazing actresses.
It does not matter
It's a dramatization; the actor's goal is to show us what the character's feeling. Scene's like this are directed in such a way and intentionally.
Yes, I feel the same. For example, in 4:10 she is overacting.
I think it’s quite difficult to interpret JK. Although Nataly did a fantastic job, JK has this elegance and maybe naivety of women from the 60s, imposible to resemble by a 2010s actress.
Nataly copied the template, it sounds the same but stilted. Jackie only sounded like this for TV
2 amazing ladies for 2 very different reasons.
they are both wonderful women may jackie kennedy rest in peace 😥😢😭🙁😔🥺
People are saying these are so similar, but even when heavily edited they look extremely different. Both her facial expressions as well as her physical appearance looking nothing like her in my opinion. Their voices are very different as well.
This was an amazing movie, an interior portrait of a woman in exigency of distress, having to act her roles, both public and private, as she was obliged to leave her world in the White House. It's insightful and moving, and a tribute to Jackie herself, as it honors her courage. I think of Jackie as I watch this, not Natalie - the woman who actually lived, and the times I actually recall.
Excellent job all the way around. Jackie's voice was the most seductive part of her. Natalie did it perfect
It's amazing, she really deserved the Oscar! great Natalie! your're the best...
for everyone saying jackie was natural no she was not she was fake she made up her voice and everything about herself it was all an illusion and natalie was portraying that to the audience she wasn't trying to be exactly like Jackie she was trying to show the audience the inner struggle of jackie and she succeeded
So much care was taken with this movie, it's beautiful to see
"This is getting out of hand.......Now there are two of them!!!"
Woah.. similar voices to Marilyn Monroe !
yessss that’s what i was thinking!!
The scenes was so in sync.. great job to the production team and natalie..
Yeah, they sure did! 💯
Natalie Portman first big movie was The professional where she played as an assassin in training.... then she grew up and played the Role of Jackie in this iconic movie! ... where am I going with this you might be asking?!.. think for a second..
The person who did hit Johnny boy was sitting in the far back and to the left of the limo... back and to the left.. Back and to the left!
Now, Who is sitting in the backseat to the left of Johnny? I'll give you three guesses but you're only going to need one!🏌🏿♂️
I challenge anyone that doubt me, to watch that 45 second Zappruda film in reduced speed if possible...Re watch that scene. pay CLOSE attention to JACKIE O'NASTY'S quick, deliberate and calculated movements. Her right arm, how she reached under his chin just before the final puff of smoke!
Only zero in on jackiie watch her RIGHT ARM! 🧐
In that movie 'The Professional ' she even wore the infamous pillbox style hat!😎
So they actually remade the scene shot by shot? Amazing!
Excellent movie and perfect actress, but unfortunately nobody can replace real Jackie.
Dang, she's got the mid-Atlantic accent down!
I like Natalie but she was all wrong this part. She did not look, sound or act like Jackie in any way, shape or form. Jackie always had thick, coal black hair. At the very least, could they get a black wig and eyebrows.
Keep up the good work you should do a Brian Bank's scene comparison
Jackie was really not attractive Buh she had style
Jackie Kennedy was such a one of a kind. Nobody does her any justice. Thats why she was the most unique First Lady there ever was and everyone tries to copy her.
Natalie became Jackie. Her performance and especially the voice was flawless.
Wow wow wow so cool ty 4 making and sharing
I absolutely adore when Hollywood does this
This makes me so happy.
Imagine being on J.K's shoes witnessing his husbands death, right beside her. Such a strong woman.
She deserved the Oscar for this. She also should have got an Oscar for Closer, but at least she won the Golden Globe for that performance.
I feel that the real Jackie is more natural, gracious, and not as nervous; Natalie is trying to hard to portray someone she thought she knew.
The Guy played JFK on top is Amazing as well as Natalie Portman played Jackie Kennedy 5:29
I don't think she was even the best choice for portraying Jackie.
natalie portman didn't look the part, nor was she acting it well. right off she looks nervous and timid as she speaks, unlike jackie
What? She was the best choice!
I don't like Natalie's voice either, even when she tries to change it
I think its funny how hair was so over the top back then that they had to tone it down in this reenactment to keep things from feeling camp
