Recently I purchased the XBOX 360 S and needed to reset my old XBOX 360 back to factory so I could sell it. I couldn't find a decent video showing how easy it really is and so here is a video to show all of you how to do it. Check it out and let me know if it helped you.

yes, but it is easier to go into your memory settings and delete what you don't need. Be careful not to delete any saved game information unless you don't mind losing your saves.
Just as a matter of clarification, this does NOT reset it to Factory Default settings, this only erases all of the data. If you need to get rid of content controls (e.g., can't play certain games), following the steps in this video will NOT remove them. I bought a used Xbox that had content controls on it, and in order to remove them I had to contact Xbox Customer Support because they need to give you a code and walk you through that resets your 360 to its true factory default (where when it starts up again you have to select Language, time zone, etc.)
This does reset the Xbox to Factory Default per Microsoft. This was made following the instructions provided by them. Content controls are completely different. If content control is enabled, this reset will not work until you disable the content controls.

2023 now, just bought an Xbox 360 S with 250 gig hard drive on eBay because my original finally died. When it arrived the previous owner still had like six profiles on there so this is going to help clear that all up. 👍🏼

You have to remove the parental controls first. If you don't know the passcode you will need to call Microsoft support.

it will include your gamer tag and achievements, but nothing else unless you saved the game to the cloud.
beck the save games onto a memory stick. You can use any USB memory stick as long as it has enough storage on it.
you would need to call Microsoft for that one.

Just bought a xbox 360 in good condition for $20. Now I can play the Xbox classics I missed out on
It will delete your profile from the Xbox, but not your membership or profile. The actual profile is stored by Microsoft. So if you reset it, you then sign in with your username and password and then you will have it back. This reset will not delete a password that is set on the Xbox.
my USB flash drive won't work and my game was recently fixed idk what to do

Appreciate it man, getting rid of a lot of my belongings, used to be proud of the fact I still have only ever owned 1 360 and that it never got the red ring and what not, but now I see no reason to keep this thing, so I’m going to sell it for whatever I can get for it, probably not even $100, probably not even close, but I don’t care, can’t hold onto material possessions like that, gotta move on.

As long as you first remove the parental password it is. These are per Microsoft.

yes, it deletes your account from the xbox and all save games, etc. Your account will remain though. If you want to cancel the account altogether you would have to do that at the xbox website.

System Settings .
Select Console Settings , and then select System Info .
Press the following button sequence on the controller
a. Pull the left trigger.
b. Pull the right trigger.
c. Press the X button.
d. Press the Y button.
e. Press the left bumper (button above the left trigger).
: f. Press the right bumper (button above the right trigger).
g. Enter the unique reset code: U (Up directional Pad), Y, Y, X

Sortof. It will delete all of your information off the xbox 360. However, you have to go to the xbox website to delete your information from microsoft.

Your account and achievements are stored by Microsoft. You will lose your save games if you don't back them up, but you will be able to recover your gamertag.

I had to do this because my mother passed her old Xbox 360 onto me, along with a Turtle Beach XP510 gaming headset and a 32 inch Vizio high definition TV, I got a new AV receiver too

you don't have to remove it, just go to the xbox website and reset it there.
you mean achievements? Those are attached to your xbox gamer profile and don't need transfer. Just sign in on a new machine and you will have them all.
