  • Here is, probably, the most impressive scene of the movie ''MEDIEVAL'', about the national hero of Czechia, Jan Žižka - a 14th century Czech icon and warlord who defeated Teutonic Order and Holy Roman Empire armies.
The film is set prior to the Hussite Wars (1419-1434), when Žižka was young. It tells the story of how Žižka became a famous military commander, one of the most successful military leaders of his time, who had never lost a battle.
Jan Žižka was born in the forest under an oak growing just next to the fields and little ponds belonging to the Meierhof. [circa 1360 A.D.]
He died of the plague at Přibyslav on October 11, 1424 on the Moravian frontier.

The wars proper began on July 30 1419 in Prague, when Jan Žižka joined a Hussite procession led by the priest Jan Želivský. The crowd gathered in front of the New Town hall and demanded the release of several Hussites held in prison.
When these demands were rejected by the councilors, the crowd stormed the town hall and threw the councillors out of the windows.
This First Defenestration of Prague is regarded as the beginning of the Hussite revolution. King Wenceslaus IV was so stunned by the defenestration that he died from the shock shortly afterward on August 16, 1419. This led to the armed conflict in which JAN was to earn his fame.

Jan Žižka led Hussite forces against 3 crusades and never lost a single battle. His tactics were unorthodox & innovative.
In addition to training & equipping his army according to their abilities, he used armored wagons fitted with small cannons & muskets, anticipating the tank of 500years later.
He exploited geographic features to the full and maintained good discipline in his armies. He had to quickly train peasants to repeatedly face highly trained+armored opponents who usually outnumbered his own troops. He was a pragmatist in developing his military strategy.
His army consisted of farmers and peasants, lacking both the funds & equipment to be classic soldiers with sword, horse & armor, so Žižka used their farmers' skills to boost their military efficiency. He adapted the tools of agriculture into the tools of war.
Jan Žižka knew exactly how his enemies would attack, and he found new ways to defeat forces numerically superior to his own.
Jan Žižka was so highly regarded that when he died, his soldiers called themselves the Orphans (sirotci) because they felt as if they had lost their father.
His enemies said that "The one whom no mortal hand could destroy was extinguished by the finger of God."

A firm adherent of the Church of Rome, Prince Sigismund Korybut of Lithuania was successful in obtaining aid from Pope Martin V, who issued a bull on March 17, 1420 which proclaimed a crusade “for the destruction of the John Wycliffe, Hussites and all other heretics in Bohemia".
Sigismund and many German princes arrived before the walls of Prague on 30 June at the head of a vast army of crusaders from all parts of Europe, largely consisting of adventurers attracted by the possibility of pillage.
They immediately began a siege of the city and Jan Žižka was compelled to defend the Kingdom.

Anyway, the funny thing is that he did not wrote in English - doesn't want others to understand him..? It is strange [at least] to be in RUclips without know some basic words in English.

Well, he writes in Czech language so.. :D. I have no clue who is he, but he is probably just some Czech "Flastenec or Jouda" how we call it. Tbh this film is well.. it could be better. It isnt 100% historically accurate.. There are so many mistakes.. But it would be more documentary then a movie.. So in the end, i liked this film a lot. :D @@jennydany
