I am looking into getting one. I currently have the mini 2. The biggest things i am looking forward to is being able to lock onto a target and filming that way. My question is recording audio did you habe to buy something extra to get audio in the videos?
Thanks for the review. Just got mine today. Been working only with Mavic Pros for years. Actually did a shoot yesterday with the Mavic 2 Pro, on the coast, of a huge cement plant. The winds were bad enough for my Mavic, couldn't imagine even trying that with the Mini. Good to have options, right?! And seems the Mini 4 Pro is a GREAT option
Question, how were you able to sync the audio from the Mic 2 to the M4P so smoothly? I have the Osmo Pocket 3 with the creator combo Mic 2 and I think that’ll be so cool for videos for me. Did you just record audio to the Mic 2 and record video from the M4P and mash them together in the editing process?
You 1 year me 1 month. Good to go my friend a lot to learn. I'm very impressed. Enjoyed your time videos. Keep on flying my friend. I'm watching all I can an learning 😅
I was really impressed at how good the audio was using the drone but not hearing it by using the remote microphone. How far was the drone from you while recording this? It would be wonderful to use a drone like this while salmon fishing in my boat. Especially while fighting a fish but recording from the drone and still talking through how to deal with the fish. I still don't own a drone but I'm planning on finally getting one this fall. Any recommendations gladly excepted. Have a great day.
Indeed, there’s some great new features some very useful ones. Maybe I should make an updated guide going over some of the new features of version five including speed ramping, which works quite well
Another great video. I have found the Mini 4 Pro to be a very capable drone that delivers very usable video and photos. I just wish it had slightly lonher legs and you need either a mat or a place free from grass for landing and take off
I love the Mini series drones. I had the Air 2 and got a Mini 2. This made my Air 2 obsolete. Then I upgraded to the 3 Pro, have just sold that and moved up to the 4 Pro. I love them. Add in less flight restrictions and I can’t think of anything better for me.
Awesome video man. I have the mini 4 pro as well and the quality still blows me out of the water. How did you sync the audio so perfectly. Did you happen to make a video of it or something?
What I do is an old trick where you just clap when you start recording. And then you just line up the spike of the audio to where you’re clapping. And usually you can get it pretty close.
I was just wondering how the drone is holding mechanically. Was any work needed on it in that one year period? How many hours have you put on it during that time?
Buy extra batteries…..you’re gonna need them with the mini 4 Pro. Wish Dji would drop the misleading “ Pro” label from drones which are definitely not Pro standard nor have some very basic Pro level features.
a nice and succinct review but I was thinking if it might also have your views on this drone's successor and what features to expect but nonetheless, thank you!!
I was very impressed by DJI care after my drone crashed. They replaced it very quickly. The obstacle avoidance doesn’t always work. I hope in the future they add lidar.
I had a mini 3 pro that I just sold hoping for the arrival of the mini 5 pro, but they told me that it won't be before 2025. The arrival of the air 3s really amazed me. But I am in Canada too and the rules are still restrictive and several places are not flyable with a base certificate. What would your advice be? buy now a 4 pro, an air 3s, or wait for the 5 pro? Thank you very much.
I’m deciding between this drone or go with the Avata 2 or the new Neo coming out. I already have the air 2. I bought a cheap BetaFPV for my son and I like using the goggles for the FPV experience.
I want to fly mostly recreationally, and my girlfriend wants to use is now and then for some of her media posts. Would you suggest the 3 pro or the 4 pro?
i see you are in NL, i'm also from NL. i had the Mavic Pro and after years im looking for a drone again and was looking at the mini 4 but i'm worried about wind performance as ive had wind warnings often with my mavic. the new Air 3s looks good but its over double what i paid for my OG mavic pro
fellow newfoundlander and i am in the market for a DJI cinematic drone as i only own and fly FPV drones and this really helps! i think i might get the mini 4 pro
I'm saving for a Mavic 3 Classic because of its superior wind resistance. I've taken several 400-mile trips but couldn't fly my Mini 2 drone due to high winds. I might as well go all out.
The Mini 3 and 4 are amazing in the wind. So far ahead of the 2. Maybe think about one of them before spending on a bigger drone, plus the less flight restrictions of the 250g drones.
All the shots were filmed in auto. I have a UV filter on the drone. But that was more just for necessity as I lost the original lens cover I don’t think it does anything for the clarity. The camera is just really good.
Personally, I very rarely use any filters on my drones because I’m never flying in a manner where they would be beneficial. But I guess for a good rule of thumb. When I do use one it’s usually an eight.
It actually does pretty well, and even if the drone is getting blown around a bit, the footage remains incredibly stable. I made a short a couple weeks ago. You can see just how much the drone was being tossed around yet. The footage was smooth. And even when it’s been blown around, it’s still locked in place with GPS. It doesn’t drift.
They’re both excellent drones and they do perform very similarly. Air 3 gives you the extra camera, which can be very important to some creators, it’s faster and can handle more wind. Mini 4 is a lot lighter and more compact. So it really all depends on what your needs are. It is a tough decision.
Many three is definitely a good solid drone. There are definitely some nice improvements but perhaps wait for the next generation if you’re thinking of upgrading. Just to make it more worthwhile upgrade
If you want good video quality, avoid the Neo. Video quality is very poor. If it’s a fun flight experience you want and don’t care to much about video quality, the Neo works for some, but I’d much prefer a radio controlled toy for that. Orders of magnitude better. For me, I only go drone for video quality or photography, which immediately rules out Neo.
Mini4pro is definitely great drone but has 2 annoying things: not holding very well in windy condition, altitiude is restricted to 120 m - this is serious problem in mountains because mini4pro is not measuring altitude from the ground but from home point
Anyone willing to crowdfund me to get this drone? I want to become a full-time travel vlogger and bought Pocket 3 but not enough fund to get Mini 4 Pro. Please let me know if anyone willing to help.
To me it’s a very average drone. I know very capable but doesn’t excite me at all it just is meh. I have more fun with my Mini 2 old school than this. I don’t like they keep adding more features and stuff I’m weird like that. Less was more don’t even care about stupid obstacle avoidance either.
One day smartphones will become obsolete and the memories you recorded in vertical video will look really bad. Think outside the rectangle box in your hand.
Went from the Mavic air to this a few months ago.. wow what an upgrade! A lot happens in 4 years in tech lol
Yes, indeed it has. It’s incredible actually.
Regular Mavic air or Mavic air 2?
@@IpadLaser the regular one
new to drones should i skip themini and go to the 3s
Your review is spot on. I can’t imagine a better have it with you at all times drone. Plus it’s so quiet in comparison to larger drones.
Excellent review thank you. I'm considering getting one of these this year and your video has been very useful.
Love my M4P too!!! Thanks for your review!!!
Thanks for watching
Love you air photography
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well, thank you very much. I appreciate that.
Great long term review of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, you covered everything. It's my goto Mini drone. Thanks for sharing Shawn.
Thanks Ron
Nice video, i like the way you present information!
I appreciate that!
This drone is so good I can't wait for the Mini 5 pro
thank you great review....are the colors right out of the drone or enhanced afterwards. how good are the pictures?
Vertical video: underrated MVP. Cropping? Quality killer. 📹🔪
Nice to have the option but I do wish vertical video wasn't so "overrated", oh well...gotta accept and provide what the "kids" like right?
Very useful review, many thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Yeah, I love my Mini 4 Pro. The Avata 2 offers a different experience, but my Mini 4 is always my go to drone!
Indeed. I’m surprised I haven’t worn this thing out yet.
I am looking into getting one. I currently have the mini 2. The biggest things i am looking forward to is being able to lock onto a target and filming that way. My question is recording audio did you habe to buy something extra to get audio in the videos?

While filming this the drone was approximately 8 feet in front of me give or take a different points
briefly, how'd you setup the backward tracking shot? did the distance stay fixed?
Excellent video as always! Wondering if you have any plans for a video on the latest Lumafusion features? Version 5 speed ramping?
Indeed, there’s some great new features some very useful ones. Maybe I should make an updated guide going over some of the new features of version five including speed ramping, which works quite well
I jumped from the original Mavic Mini to the Mini 4 Pro. There is a slight learning curve, but, OMG!, what a great drone.
Another great video. I have found the Mini 4 Pro to be a very capable drone that delivers very usable video and photos. I just wish it had slightly lonher legs and you need either a mat or a place free from grass for landing and take off
Thank you very much. Have you done a review on the controller you are using? Do you find it makes much of difference?
I really like the RC2 with built-in screen. It’s just nice and simplistic and quick and easy to deploy.

Looking sharp there Sean. Looking forward to see the neo if you plan on getting it.
Thank you very much
Shawn, thank you so much for the video, most definitely I’m going to up grade from my DJI mini 2 to the DJI mini 4 Pro. Cheers! From USA.
That is gonna be quite the upgrade from the mini 2. Greetings and thanks for watching.

Fellow Canadian here, where were the water shots taken? It is gorgeous!
Those were shot in Newfoundland when I was visiting.
I had a mini 3 pro that I just sold hoping for the arrival of the mini 5 pro, but they told me that it won't be before 2025. The arrival of the air 3s really amazed me. Thanks for the review, Shaun. Well done, as always. Did you use any ND filters on the Mini 4 Pro when you made this review?
No nd filters. And all shots were captured in auto including the talking portions.
@@AirPhotography Thank you for the response, Shaun. Looking forward to more of your work. Cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A.
Thank you. Well detailed video.
Thank you

Mini 4 does a pretty good job in the wind. Ideally if you are gonna be flying in heavy winds, there Air 3s would perform much better.
What video editing software do you use/laptop
I actually do all my editing on an iPad Pro in an app called LumaFusion
fellow newfoundlander and i am in the market for a DJI cinematic drone as i only own and fly FPV drones and this really helps! i think i might get the mini 4 pro

6:07 how far are you from the drone? I cant even hear the drone, its so quiet.
I was between 10 to 15 feet throughout the video. I also had noise cancellation turned on the microphone, which helps.
Does the audio from the mic go directly to the drone video file or do you have to edit it in?
I just edited in. You can’t record directly to the drone on the specific drone. I just sync the video in a editor.
@@AirPhotography you might do a video on your syncing post process
Great info!
Thanks for watching!
did u use any extra camera lens for this kind of super clarity videos?
All the shots were filmed in auto. I have a UV filter on the drone. But that was more just for necessity as I lost the original lens cover I don’t think it does anything for the clarity. The camera is just really good.
How to connect DJI MIC 2 with Mini 3 Pro
I have the dji mini 3 pro, do you think its worth the upgrade to the dji mini 4 pro for the omni obstacal avoidance system?
It can be if you do a lot of sideways flying or use the intelligent flight mode quite a bit.
Hello just wanna ask wat ND filter u recommend for us?I let your videos 😊
Personally, I very rarely use any filters on my drones because I’m never flying in a manner where they would be beneficial. But I guess for a good rule of thumb. When I do use one it’s usually an eight.
Well, you certainly sold me. Thanks.
It really is a great drone for the size and price
How is the stability in windy conditions? I have a cheaper drone that gets blown all over the place and I’m looking to replace it.

Shawn, I’m waiting for your Neo video 😉
