I was at the opening night performance, and the audience was blown away by Glenn Close's staggering, drop-dead artistry. I have never seen any performance as powerful and moving as Glenn Close as Norma Desmond. An exhilarating tour de force. The acting and music--divine!Brava, brava, brava!
Glenn Close was absolutely, positively OUTSTANDING in this role. They need to make this into a movie musical, and she needs to win an OSCAR for it. If Jennifer Hudson can win for Dreamgirls, then Glenn MUST win. This was by far, the best performance I ever ever seen by anyone in a musical. Ever. Truly magical.
I keep replaying the short clip at 0:41 when she's crying over her chimp during "Surrender". The way she folds her hands and sobs over the coffin is beautifully dramatic and absolutely perfect. She's phenomenal.
Best show I've seen in awhile...I have spent a small fortune in between the 4 times I've seen it. But worth every penny. I am so lucky to be able to see Glenn, listen to this score and the 40 piece orchestra. An evening you will never forget. She acts every single word that comes out of her mouth. The show is glorious. The ensemble is amazing. Glenn is the greatest star of them all.
This is clearly the Best Broadway Musical I ever saw while I didn't see the original production due to the fact I was born 8 months before it opened in November of 1994 23 year later I finally see it on Broadway in this Acclaimed Revival and it was the best musical I ever experienced on Broadway! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL BROADWAY FANS WHO WERE BORN IN 1994 should go see this magnificent revival before it departs June 25th 😀
saw the show last night via winning the lottery. i am still shook of the emotion. Glenn Close truly brings backs Norma Desmond's character. i cried like a baby. the emotion just stunned me. jeee
I saw the final show and may I just say the applause for As if we never said goodbye was about 3 minutes long. I couldn't feel my hands but it was so well deserved
I saw the first preview - phenomenal production!! Ms. Close kills it, as her costars from London. The orchestra is to die for. Already planning to go back at least two more times!
Do it! I saw the London production four times because I was just as overwhelmed as you were. If they should ever release this on DVD I'll know God is real.
I went to see this production in London (closing night). What a phenomenal performance from all the cast and the orchestra is electric. If you can, GO SEE IT. When I went there were 4 standing ovations! It is that good.
I can't wait to see this. I've never seen it before but I love the film. And I love Glenn Close. And Andrew Lloyd Webber. This is just destined to be great.
Pauline Collins - Saw Last night at the London Coliseum last year. Glen Close simply fantastic. Recently went to New York and saw again on Broadway. Love Glen Close in Sunset Boulevard - the only one to play Norma Desmond. Great Acting. wish they would release CD of her up to date performance.
I'M LOVIN' IT‼️❤️ Can't wait. Saw the 90's production 2x as a kid. Wondering WHEN the movie is going to be made with her.......... Current Joe looks like my last big mistake 😔
With broadway productions in the U.S, there is really no DVD release of the musical...The only way to see is, one, go to the actual place and see it, or two, wait till someone records it from their phones, _which you really shouldn't do, but who cares_ and watch the bootleg of it... Or in cases, such as mine, is to wait still the company releases the OCR of the musical and picture it yourself
There is no DVD release (or cast recording, for some reason) of this production. But, Glenn will be reprising her role in a film version of the musical, which starts filming in October. Maybe they'll cast Michael Xavier and some of the other cast members of this production.
I see. But the character looks better in a turban, in my estimation. But this is a detail. What matters is that the musical is one of the best and Glenn Close is divine in it. I'd love to be in NYC to see it.
I'm obsessed with this video. Glenn Close is phenomenal.
Sunset Boulevard is one of my favourite musicals, hugely underrated nowadays
I agree with you.
A. Webber is a musical genius!
atcing Isn't he just!! Such a genius :)
I saw the London production of 'Sunset Boulevard' four times becasue it was THAT good.

I understand that Weber is fighting to get the rights to do a movie version but Paramount is on the fence.

The film version is expected to begin shooting summer 2021.

Brent Norem ugh.
It's one of the better clips because she's not singing.

So many legends on Broadway rn. My theatre geek is so happy!!!!
I know....I wish they would allow rush tickets for Hello Dolly because I hear Bette Middler is amazing!

Right onstage - which works very well!
finally saw out last night and it was fabulous!

All things considered, the greatest of the musicals.
I wish the movie musical of the move could actually happen
Amazing performance, I was fortunate to see her from the front row last night. Hands down this is the best I've seen!!
I can't wait to see this. I've never seen it before but I love the film. And I love Glenn Close. And Andrew Lloyd Webber. This is just destined to be great.
Ho visto lo show a Londra. EMOZIONE allo stato puro !!!!!
Favorite musical of all time, and knowing that the new movie version is coming, I'm HYPE.

They need to make the movie with her already! I have to say the performances from a couple years ago can't be topped
Amazing performance!
This clip is making me want to see the revival! Glenn Close is singing better than ever!
Get your ears checked.
dohaperson1 She sounds angelic? What are YOU listening to??
An over the hill botox-ed diva barely hitting the notes with a voice like a frog.
Okay, well you are the one hearing wrong. I was there opening night and her voice is significantly better than it used to be.
I'M LOVIN' IT‼️❤️ Can't wait. Saw the 90's production 2x as a kid. Wondering WHEN the movie is going to be made with her.......... Current Joe looks like my last big mistake 😔
I live in Nevada, but am hoping to go to New York this summer to see this!! ALW is my idol❤💕
I don't know what came after that split second clip of Michael Xavier wearing that blue swim trunks...
Phantomnightwatcher He put a robe on 😂
he sings a majority of the song sunset Boulevard in Speedos
Want to see this so bad!!!!
Ayaan Abbasi I just saw it it's amazing!
insanely hurt that this wasn't nominated for any Tony Awards this year
I'm completely in love with this production. What do I have to do to get a DVD release?

Christina Stork I saw it and it was the best thing I've ever seen

I hope they still do the Sunset Boulevard movie and she finally wins her Oscar
Glenn Close confirmed that all they need is a final green light and then they can do it!!!
@@ronhorster8917 I’m so glad 😊 I hope they give them the green light.
Wouldn't it be lovely if they just released and if needed had us pay for these full shows with the footage they already have.
Amazing performances, while I do prefer the movie version of Sunset Boulevard (which is an utter masterpiece) this was great as well!
what song is glen close singing in the beginning
As if we never said Goodbye
It's this on DVD?
What is that song she sings at the beginning
Richard Mansworth as if we never said goodbye
'As If We Never Said Goodbye'
Did they change Desmond's gold turban for wigs?! Why?
Marcos Valenca Glen wanted an "update" to the show. Most of the costumes were the same but she tweaked some looks.
I see. But the character looks better in a turban, in my estimation. But this is a detail. What matters is that the musical is one of the best and Glenn Close is divine in it. I'd love to be in NYC to see it.
What songs are they singing in this trailer
wait. es dat devil from 101dalmations?
Seeing it June 18th... mattinae
Who's the younger girl FDA
The original movie are the one and only true Sunset Boulevard.
Does Close miss a lot of performances? I'm going to be very sad if I see an understudy after traveling hundreds of miles.
Was anybody gonna tell me that Sunset Boulevard got adapted into a musical or was I just supposed to find out on my own?
please please video this like Newsies!
Reminds me of cruella de vil.
0:56 .. need i say more lol LICK

Please if there is a god, the movie won't be made with Glen Close But No Cigar!
NORMA DESMOND is the GREATEST star 🌟 of them ALL. And Glenn Close is the GREATEST NORMA of them ALL! 🏆 👑 . 😎
Glenn was good. That's about as much as I can say as a loyal LuPone fan.
Patti was better
Gay alert!!!
Just awful.
The singing sounds horrible.
