I work as an assistant archivist at Washington Place (Hawaiian history not quite paranormal England but there’s definitely some haunted shit in there) and THE most accurate thing about the Magnus Archives is how often archivists will complain about the archivist who came before them. @@sleepydays2726 I'd say, next time, keep notes but this is also my first time watching and thought this would be like Homestuck, a webcomic that also has a lot of names, faces and things that happen early on that play a major role later on... at least with that I had faces to connect to the names and the most complicated part was just trying to keep the timeline straight...
so yeah, I didn't think to start keeping notes physically about different characters, locations or even words/phrases, though luckily I'm able to recognize patterns pretty well and am able to keep up somewhat with what's going on, even just barely.
Sorry about the babbling on about stuff you probably don't care about, wish you luck on uncovering the mysteries that lie in this podcast, I'll be doing so as well :3
So this is scaring me shitless but i find it funny that the thing that's actually in him probably has nothing to do with a biblical demon and yet it chooses to act like it is one. Ironically if we are talking irl demonolgy, when demons possess someone of faith their accounts always say that they can't worship or even mention whoever they worship, no matter what their religion may be, Christianity, Judaism, Islam or whatever else. So technically this would literally be what is going on, the demon decides to mess with people depending on their religion and I'd like to imagine this is what's going on.

In regards to the yellow sole: yellow was considered a demonic colour by the Catholic Church.
Interestingly, its connotations were of lying, betrayal, greed, and sometimes, even disease and madness.
Compare this to golden yellow, which was very positively viewed

If I were him, when I saw the second father Sing in the hall, I’d of tried again. This one was clearly the real one and he REALLY needed help.
At least until the same thing happened, he ran out again, and saw a third Father Sing :3
I'm surprised Jonathan didn't complain about how this could have all been explained by psychosis and shouldn't be in the Institute archives
Even Jonathan..nah this happened poor bastard.
Let this comment stand here to express my gratitude to people not spoiling anything for first time listeners. I appreciate that immensely.
Of course people are being very ominous, but so far I don't think I've read specific spoilers without a spoiler warning beforehand.
So again, thank you for allowing others to enjoy the podcast for the first time.
Yes, there are so few spoilers here compared to the subreddit (which spoiled me a lot)!
You’re quite right! I imagine it must take some willpower-I would definitely be inclined to come back and comment on older episodes once I had acquired further knowledge of the situation. I’ve only come across a handful of comments containing spoilers with spoiler warnings, one single warningless spoiler (in someone else’s replies; sadly, it seemed major as well), and people communicating with first-time listeners in a spoiler-free manner, simply giving general information (like that there is a plot, and that Jon’s voice wouldn’t be the only one in this). I am incredibly grateful that this is such a safe space in that regard.

14 When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them.
15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.
16 “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked.
17 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.
18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

So, we got Fire thingy, False Human, Mirage (I'm not sure if it's connected to FH, but since Stalker Lady didn't say anything about hallucinations, from what I recall, I'll mark it as a separate thing for now), Meat Eating and Package. If this is what "Full House" looks like, then I'm dreading to see what actual "Flash Royal" would be, because I'm sure that our Priest didn't collect all of the local "Pokemons", since I can't find any connections to the Worms Incident, Lonely Widow, Lightning Book and Dark Cave (and maybe some others that I can't remember right now).

well that was concluded quickly! props for managing to make the sacrament scene so uncomfortable and disconcerting before what actually happened was revealed. the statement giver's experience contradicting the material facts continues to be a theme. breekon and hope deliveries wasn't a piece of the puzzle I was expecting there at the end. another clearly significant mention of martin's absence.
I'm almost certain that Breekon and Hope delivery delivered that meat in episode 18-
I haven't listened to next episodes yet so far what I got, there are multiple deities/demons like one haunted the house from burned out and one possessing the priest, which were fighting over the priest as it seemed, and these deities had cults, eye within hand symbol is connected to stories about meat and human skin as it seems, other is about moving, crawling pipes and that red head girl who got exploded with worm kind of things in her, another is the Piper from war era and another but I don't know which, Lakes family is connected to, the family are also patrons of Magnus institution. Seems like they are using Magnus institution for something as seen in the dreamer episode. Am I going in the right direction? Can someone explain without too much spoilers please, I don't remember all very well.
I think we should find it out as we listen rather than someone giving us the answers
This is my first time listening too but if you notice all of Mayor Marshmallow's comments (I'm currently taking notes of those beside episode titles along with important names), your theory might not be too far off. I'll say this: you're DEFINITELY on to something, categorizing the fears this way. It's... complicated? But you've definitely noticed the patterns and this poor priest did encounter more than one. This will be explained very explicitly in later seasons.

Wait. So all people who have experienced stuff with rooms or environments getting hotter have also been at a hospital; Father Burroughs who was there with Bethany, Mr. Lensik when he hit his head, and Ms. Saraki when she was working. But Saraki didn't really feel the heat, only saw it happening. So it still has something to do with Hilltop road. Maybe Gerard Keay and the other chanting dude just brought the essence with them to the hospital. Is St. Mary's Churchyard close to Hilltop road then? Or is it just the "thing" that causes this heat? An interesting thing of note would have to be the exact passage Father Burroughs was meant to read (Mark, Chapter 9, Verses 14-19):

As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.

17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

So I’m on my first watch, and crack pot theory, I think the demon is the beholder mentioned in the hospital episode and all the eye pendants are in reference to this demon
Edit 1: The priest said behold, I’m doubling down on this theory
Edit 2: I’m seeing a lot of eyes being mentioned this episode
Edit 3: I have so many questions, biggest one for me right now is who is the priests accomplice? I think it’s gerard keay from first aid, seems like another acolyte of the beholder. I think this demon has some big plans for this priest.
Edit 4: Ack
Spoilers for seasons 3-5
Edit 5: Just reached season 5, still haven’t gotten many of my questions about this guy answered. Gerard definitely was not with this guy. Maybe he’s an avatar of the flesh, not sure. Or the extinction maybe? I don’t know why the thing wanted his faith. Maybe it serves multiple powers at once, maybe the demon was actually a human at one point and is now jumping between different hosts
Edit 6: Episode 196 - Coping, please be relevant
Edit 7: Crap uh… idk I guess the priest is with the spiral and his accomplice was Michael. Lines up well but that isn’t too satisfying as an answer, feels anticlimactic.
