I'm gonna try this in my community. I am joining due to my overall lack of ability to have a conversation which has in short destroyed my ability to have a proper conversation on a personal level. It would be nice to have a proper conversation with a woman without getting stuck on anything past "hi". At the age I'm at 24 its pretty much an auto turn off when a women finds out you can't even communicate your thoughts properly. Not having any past experience offers little to no sympathy in this category. So my last lifeline is getting into a group of newbs like myself and learn to speak and have a meaty conversation(s) and hopefully apply it as thoroughly as I do in the meetings in the real world. Not just on a relationship basis but also during interviews amongst other things.

I've been told to just say something but what the hell am I supposed to say to a random woman or any person for that matter that I want to talk to but don't know well enough to simply speak to as if I'm familiar I look at some people and they can have conversations like they are talking with an old friend and yet they just met. Looks so easy but for me it just isn't but I wish it was.

I’ll start a toaster masters and each month we will have a theme day for all who wants to participate.
“My Fit Monday . Have the option to talk about the outfit you have and why it’s your favorite.
Suit, workout clothes, pajamas, jeans, etc
Y’all think that would be a good idea?
Passion day where someone talks about their passions. Like
    Hobbies, cooking, sewing,
    Singing, carpentry, painting etc

Personally, I would say yes as I’m a Toastmasters member at my local club and it’s so helpful to have a supportive community around you.
I like how the meetings are structured and how everybody is expected to give constructive feedback!
I’d defo recommend attending your local club!

I'm not a businessman. In fact, I am a disability recipient who just moved to Las Vegas last year from Virginia and despite being 38 years old, I'm trying to take charge of my life and one of those things I would like to take charge of is how well I carry myself, not just giving speeches, but my mannerism when socializing with people in my everyday life. Would I be welcomed there or seen as an inferior?

I'm with you man. I'm not in your situation but I'm 36 and feel like I'm still lacking a lot socializing skills quite honestly I should've developed when I was a kid. I attended one of these groups as a guest a decade ago but when I did the group seemed very supportive and a lot of constructive feedback was made. You might even find someone in your situation. I'm thinking about joining for real this time. And hopefully I can overcome my own social handicaps. I think you should join. And you will benefit from a supportive group.

I'm not a businessman either. I've been in Toastmasters for years, mostly for the pure fun of it. I've met many interesting people, made some good friends, and have an outlet for explaining the random things I'm geeky about.

Is it okay to present in a more relaxed manner, almost how a stand-up comedian might (but a very amateurish one). From the videos I've seen, everybody seems so rigid and professional when speaking, which I don't think will jive well with my current goal of simply becoming more relaxed when presenting. I would love to get to a point where I can make the members laugh and listen with a smile instead of an attentive face. Is this sort of execution/presentation style okay or out of the ordinary?

My recommendation is to visit different club websites and meetings. Each club has it’s own personality.
I have a quirky personality and have done different things, such as to dress as a mouse, host a Scooby Doo themed meeting, among others. I feel comfortable do so in two of my clubs, the third one not so much.

See www.Toastmasters.org and click on Find A Club. They're an international organization. Open Clubs are free to visit as a guest. Contact the club before you go for more information. Each club is different so if it's possible, visit more than one. Hope this helps!

    Hello Toast Masters of Parsippany,
I am Sean Nave, a man with a dream, and I want to learn how to go about doing it. The Toast Masters Club seems to be the right place to hone my skills again if you will take me under your wings.
I am a traumatic brain injury survivor of over fourteen years, and havr gone through many changes during my process in coming to you.
I am a simple man, who was in the process of getting a degree in business and computer science while being a title insurance broker, when the accident occurred.
Now fourteen years later, after losing my good hand and regaining my mastery of English, I work for Universal Institute’s TRU program as the Editor of the quarterly newsletter, and have a book about a number of topics that I want help with publishing.
Can you direct me in how I become a member?
    A humble,.
    Sean Nave

Also, at 4:30 In this video, the lady presenter tells you how to find a club regardless of where you live in the world. Stay safe.

Clubs vary. If you can, check out other open clubs in your area too. Did you speak during Table Topics? I found that challenging! Do you know how to give encouraging feedback to speakers or others? Have you mentored anyone? How about negotiating or persuading others? Just like speech development and effective speaking, these are things that can be practiced at Toastmasters. People employed or who volunteer in various fields benefit from good communications skills, and keeping them sharp.
