i'm genuinely done being shy, socially anxious and awkward. idgaf if i'll look like a fool. i don't want to spend the rest of my life being scared. i'm joining this and see how this will help me.
How was it?
Ya, let us know how it went!
I'm just passing by definitely not here because I suffer from it as well.
Same. Btw whats the update?
Did you go?
Got anxiety just from watching this.
lol
Me too /:
Lmao
loool, I know the feeling all too well
I hate that feeling. I suffer from it too and that's my main problem.
I'll definitely check it out. No one ever introduced me to these things growing up. So at 33 I'm taking matters into my own hands and seek out help and opportunities to also contribute.
Yeah! Whoo!
More power to you, that’s awesome!
Did you ever look at any clubs?
Goodluck mate
Same deal here, it's never too late(:
Toastmasters changed my life, I got inserted into the club, when I was incarcerated. Super awesome to be part of. Very cool, never forget!!
They have Toastmasters in prison? What club, prison was this?
@@krystalklearliving It was Toastmasters. And it was Noble Correctional in Parkersburg,Ohio.
@@dustinszarell8917
What you did in this club?
Can you explain in details please
@@ignite_1611 I learned how to improve our speaking skills and how to present yourself in the professional world. It was like a Brotherhood.
Did it help when you got released
Toastmasters is the most amazing personal development organisation i have ever seen. I am so glad to uave joined and i can clearly see the results in myself. I am currently the president of my club in Niger 🇳🇪
Everyone like me who have social anxiety R.I.P. i can understand your feelings.
Its the very reason why you should join
@@FahadAJT I used to suppress my feeling of public speaking anxiety after the pandemic, but I think this has only further fed into my transgressions. I know I’ll be a nervous wreck if I go to one of these but I’m saying screw it, it’s time to change.
It helped me with everything I needed, family, friends, and life in general.
Really interested in your journey? How long did u attend for?
@@mohammadkhwaja9459 For well over a year, it gave me structure
Thanks! Would you say its just for public speaking or communication in general?
@@mohammadkhwaja9459 Yes, everything, and then some
I was a part of one of the meetings as a guest today and its a great learning experience
really? cool thank you for the suggestion it will probably boost me enough to not care about the price and join the meeting
@@Zqily I took a test run for it, i.e. I didn't pay the membership fees before.. If possible, try to find a way to do the same, and if you like it, then consider paying for it :))
I’m glad I heard about this at 21. I had no idea this was a thing!
I'm so glad Toastmasters is available in my country. Actually it's right here in my hometown! And all these years struggling with communication, and this club was sitting right here. I had no idea lol
Even though looks like I’ll be getting anxiety and stress from this I’m convinced it will help me a lot with my communication skills . I’ll look one around my area and go .
@Ankit I find it fun. And not a bad way to make friends.
Great video, thank you! I am planning to join Toastmasters to grow my speaking and presenting skills for my career as an inspirational speaker-classical crossover singer. I am glad this organization exists!
I enjoy attending meetings because is a safe environment to experiment, get over your fears in communicating, and best of all get useful feedbacks from awesome people.
Loved it. Posting on my club's Facebook page, NOW!
I'm gonna try this in my community. I am joining due to my overall lack of ability to have a conversation which has in short destroyed my ability to have a proper conversation on a personal level. It would be nice to have a proper conversation with a woman without getting stuck on anything past "hi". At the age I'm at 24 its pretty much an auto turn off when a women finds out you can't even communicate your thoughts properly. Not having any past experience offers little to no sympathy in this category. So my last lifeline is getting into a group of newbs like myself and learn to speak and have a meaty conversation(s) and hopefully apply it as thoroughly as I do in the meetings in the real world. Not just on a relationship basis but also during interviews amongst other things.
Incog Spectator well you weren’t at a loss for words there now were you? Maybe you should just text those girls 😂
@@jameelmoore4669 Yeah bit that's because I have something to talk about no idea how people have full on conversations on a daily basis with random people they don't even know. I've been told to just say something but what the hell am I supposed to say to a random woman or any person for that matter that I want to talk to but don't know well enough to simply speak to as if I'm familiar I look at some people and they can have conversations like they are talking with an old friend and yet they just met. Looks so easy but for me it just isn't but I wish it was.
Edit: Also dang don't put the laughing emoji help a little 😂😂😂 I'm on life support here.
@@incogspectator3042 Dude, you have no idea how much I relate to this right now. I'm 19, I'm supposed to be enjoying my youth, but instead I'm terrified of talking to my classmates. Or, when I do talk, I just freeze, to the point where they lose all respect for me and I'm left with no one to even try to talk to. I just want to go out and have fun with people my age. If, by going to toastmaster, I can learn to be lighter on my feet and can get more comfortable speaking with others, then hopefully i have a chance at actually being a normal freaking human being -_-.
Incog Spectator OMG, you took the word right out of my mouth. I'm in the same situation, only worst I'm 25 😂
Going to my first Toastmaster today as a guest.
The more you see the less you Fear..The less you Fear the more you do😎
That's really a great concept!
thank you, that was so helpful. I'm the toastmaster of the year, know I know what to do!
great vidieo im in my 1st year with toastmasters international great club and experince
I am really glad to be a member of Ambitious City Toast Masters in Hamilton, Ontario .
Hi. I live in brantford. Nice to meet you.
Good overview of the meetings! I've been a member of several clubs over many years. Has anyone else noticed unavoidable awkward transitions between the roles/functionaries? "Thank you Mr/madam table topics grammarian toastmaster master" (or some similar statement of confusion). I love TM, I just wonder how that could be smoother.
Let's say you have just introduced the Grammarian and next up is the Ah-Counter: "Thanks, Adelle, and now let's hear what the role of Ah-Counter is all about from Noah." Noah begins, "Thank you Mr. Toastmaster, As Ah-Counter..."
Better organization; they may need to hit their own books a bit more.
Oh my gosh, this is incredible!! I’m looking into this tomorrow!
Mahalah May Photography how did it go? Did it help?
Also look into my comments about a new kind of speech and WHY! This is germane to every new toastmaster, not just the Advanced Toastmaster!
How did it go?
@@noeramirez5898 honestly this was ages ago, I don’t even remember. I never went to a toastmaster’s event. I do remember looking it up, but I don’t remember why I didn’t go. Maybe it was too far away from where I live? I don’t know. But my life is drastically different than it was back then. I’m headed in a completely different direction
@@hallyhop- many clubs have online meetings now, in the wake of the COVID shutdown. You should consider visiting as a guest to welcome in the new year 2024
I heard about toastmasters from my favourite RUclips creator and I like to become a toastmaster member to achieve my job goals and become a native English speaker. after watching this I was get nervous to become day of toastmaster in a toastmaster club
Hey! How's your Toastmasters journey going so far? And who is your favourite RUclips creator, I'm curious?
This youtube video via Toastmasters International gave me some informative details to consider if joining as a novice.
Definitely gonna be apart of something like this! All apart of my purpose.
JaigTV, We would love to have you visit The Fuquay-Varina Toastmasters Club on Mondays at 7:00 pm (1900). Please visit our website for more information.
I am definitely going to check out. Referred to by a friend and wanted to see what is about. I definitely need help in speaking. Whenever I talk, I am all over the place and I confuse people and they don't understand and that is not very good in my business.
Who's watching this with no socks on Lol
Dennis Clark JR who’s watching this while smelling toe yam? 😂😆🤣

I was under the impression I was going to learn how to make the perfect bread toast.
I am now disappointed.
Ah, you wanted Master of Toasts...sorry it is a little confusing, I know. Just go to iwanttoprocook.com they'll help you out
Lol
This was a very stupid comment.
Actually it's toast you do in party with other people (something like cheers🥂) not bread 😅
Italian?
I had a heart attack watching this
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one. It’s normal. Public speaking is the one of the most feared activity in America.
This was scary
Same. I felt like I was going to throw up.
Just to give you guys an update. I was looking at these videos because I foolishly decided to become a teacher but having completed my first year... I was amazing. No nerves in front of the class even with a couple adults observing. Just take a dive!
what you mean videos? you went to toastmasters or no? what videos?
Very beneficial skills!!
superb, spot on and clear to follow
Hi! I’m a college freshman but in highschool I would have panic attacks before and while presenting, would this be a good club to join if im not good at speaking to/in front of people and want to get comfortable with it, or is this a club for people that are okay at public speaking but want to get better at it? Cause I don’t wanna go if I’m going to be the only person stuttering/shaking...
Toastmasters has special clubs for people who are already excellent speakers and comfortable in front of an audience. The majority of clubs are for everyone, including people who are very nervous.
I know this is something i should do by the overwhelming feeling of fear from just the idea of doing this.
Respect and gratitude
I have good time participating this😊
My Toastmaster speech about my discovery that I CAN learn to sing, even at age 66: @
My chest tightened as I watch the speaker in this video starts their speech and the camera switched to show the other participants looking at them. Ooh I can feel the judging stares. It's probably just in my head though.
I want to join to get rid of this horrible weakness.
My issue is I get so nervous speaking in front of others I normally avoid speeches. Would this be beneficial for a nervous speaker
Definitely
This is the exact place that you should visit then.
Yes!!
407 Kid yes it will help you get over that. Then you can become a master speaker!!
did you go? how was it?
I am going to attend the first meeting, will bd amazing
I'm an ambivert who just joined toastmaster, hopefully i'll do well and become a good speaker. 🤠
Meeting role: Grammarian. Toastmasters, where have you been all my life?

The first time I heard about toast master I thought this is on how to back the best toastes lol.. But visoiting a business school I heard that this can profit your business, for all when you do not feel that confident with speaking with other in a foreign language... But I think this can profit my business, and yes you can feel toasted when you are under the magnifying glass lol...
I know nothing of Toastmasters.
However I do know something about video production.
I'm wondering if there is an equivalent for video production since this one is not so good.
Love Toastmaster.
How can i join for speaking practices is it free?
What if you don’t have a speech to practice with? Do you just make something up? I’m interested in doing it just to help me with uni presentations and overall confidence speaking in front of crowds
hey VRB there will be a mentor assigned to you, you can work with them to build you own speech and increase your level of confidence...

I know it is said to be free, but the meeting I went to had a breakdown of fees...is it normal to have fees or dues at these meetings or was it just normal at that location?
Ebonny Mack as far as I know, the first meeting is free for people who are figuring out if toastmasters is right for them.. but it costs money from then on if you want to keep coming

I can't seem to find anything on pricing to join a club in the UK. Does anyone know approximately how much the cost is in the UK??
It's free bro
@@johndownes3528 really? you sure!?
Hi Zendaya, there are set fees for half yearly membership and a one off initial joining fee but these are not expensive. Clubs then charge their own fees to cover the cost of hiring venues, refreshments etc. Suggest you go to Toastmasters International website which has a 'Find a club' facility then go along as a guest to a local club. You will be warmly welcomed. Bob from Oz.

Can a non native speaker living in an English speaking country struggling with vocabulary , grammer and social anxiety get benefitted from toast master
Personally, I would say yes as I’m a Toastmasters member at my local club and it’s so helpful to have a supportive community around you.
I like how the meetings are structured and how everybody is expected to give constructive feedback!
I’d defo recommend attending your local club!
I want to join this group, please suggest where to join
is this it? is this the answer? Jalae must now enter the toastmaster arc.
No speaking in third person at toast masters. Its rule number 42
I'm not a businessman. In fact, I am a disability recipient who just moved to Las Vegas last year from Virginia and despite being 38 years old, I'm trying to take charge of my life and one of those things I would like to take charge of is how well I carry myself, not just giving speeches, but my mannerism when socializing with people in my everyday life. Would I be welcomed there or seen as an inferior?
I'm with you man. I'm not in your situation but I'm 36 and feel like I'm still lacking a lot socializing skills quite honestly I should've developed when I was a kid. I attended one of these groups as a guest a decade ago but when I did the group seemed very supportive and a lot of constructive feedback was made. You might even find someone in your situation. I'm thinking about joining for real this time. And hopefully I can overcome my own social handicaps. I think you should join. And you will benefit from a supportive group.
I'm not a businessman either. I've been in Toastmasters for years, mostly for the pure fun of it. I've met many interesting people, made some good friends, and have an outlet for explaining the random things I'm geeky about.
Lmao i just became a member and i took my first role as the Ah counter and it went great they said ive done a great and i think i did, the next session i was chosen to do glossary master (presenting the word of the day) and im excited any advices will be appreciated

Is it okay to present in a more relaxed manner, almost how a stand-up comedian might (but a very amateurish one). From the videos I've seen, everybody seems so rigid and professional when speaking, which I don't think will jive well with my current goal of simply becoming more relaxed when presenting. I would love to get to a point where I can make the members laugh and listen with a smile instead of an attentive face. Is this sort of execution/presentation style okay or out of the ordinary?
I would also like to take a more natural approach. Makes for a more relaxed, and easy time.
My recommendation is to visit different club websites and meetings. Each club has it’s own personality.
I have a quirky personality and have done different things, such as to dress as a mouse, host a Scooby Doo themed meeting, among others. I feel comfortable do so in two of my clubs, the third one not so much.
Is there any toastmaster club in Nigeria
See www.Toastmasters.org and click on Find A Club. They're an international organization. Open Clubs are free to visit as a guest. Contact the club before you go for more information. Each club is different so if it's possible, visit more than one. Hope this helps!
I like that and I want to be like them.
Blanchard, did you visit any clubs?
@@loriluna5005 not yet! But I want to. How could you help?

What if you’d have no issue presenting but have issues expanding on a thought or can’t find certain points to discuss? Maybe it’s lacking knowledge not presentation skills some struggle with
This is so intimidating 😟
Wow
If someone kept interrupting me to give me an “ah” count, I’d probably tell them to shut up.

Hello Toast Masters of Parsippany,
I am Sean Nave, a man with a dream, and I want to learn how to go about doing it. The Toast Masters Club seems to be the right place to hone my skills again if you will take me under your wings.
I am a traumatic brain injury survivor of over fourteen years, and havr gone through many changes during my process in coming to you.
I am a simple man, who was in the process of getting a degree in business and computer science while being a title insurance broker, when the accident occurred.
Now fourteen years later, after losing my good hand and regaining my mastery of English, I work for Universal Institute’s TRU program as the Editor of the quarterly newsletter, and have a book about a number of topics that I want help with publishing.
Can you direct me in how I become a member?
A humble,.

Going to one but don't see how it'll help...
Clubs vary. If you can, check out other open clubs in your area too. Did you speak during Table Topics? I found that challenging! Do you know how to give encouraging feedback to speakers or others? Have you mentored anyone? How about negotiating or persuading others? Just like speech development and effective speaking, these are things that can be practiced at Toastmasters. People employed or who volunteer in various fields benefit from good communications skills, and keeping them sharp.
