1- How many repetitions are you suggesting as a starting point? 2- Do you pull the belly in for as long as you can hold off breathing or for x amount of seconds? 3-Thank you
I typically have people start with 10-15 reps. You do want to make sure you can breath while engaging these muscles so the goal is not to hold the breath.
So much nicer and sensible to listen to a woman helping women achieve their weight and health goals. You have explained this aspect very simply, and it’s going to help a lot of women. I’ll be watching the breathing video, as well as the other exercise ones. Thank you.
This was very informative. I found when I started to take your advice that my abdominal exercises became easier, probably because I was engaging those muscles you were talking about. I could do a lot more crunches when I pulled my belly in then I could the way I was doing them before.
It is crazy how not ONE fitness 'expert' on youtube has talked about this or emphasised it in case they mentioned it in the passing. Imagine how much it would help everyone! Gosh. Day one, and I am feeling amazing.
The fact that the diaphragm has to be empty of breath/ air when you contract / work the ,”rectus abdominus “ and other underlying support muscles , is the crucial fact . In yoga too we have exercises like that in which we expel the breath totally even slightly forcibly and then while the aur is out , we have to contract the muscles , or ,””churn “ it For basically cleaning the insides but that improves the tone of the whole of underlying muscle connection. In yoga or other exercises no body says this is fir flat stomach . But It is very good to know that contracting or working out these core stomach supporting muscles can increase the possibility of a flat stomach . thank you for pointing out that this is what make a the work out mire effective.

She might want to visit a naturopath or a nutritionist. There might be an underlying reason for the weight gain. I will say that I had to go on a special diet for a digestive disorder I was diagnosed with earlier this year and my extra weight melted off with minimal exercise at age 52. Cutting out sugar, dairy, gluten and processed foods is the way to go.
