    For the people saying skill issue... I've gotten rank #1 playing ball in overwatch 1 and 2...
    The point of the video isn't that Ball needs buffs; it's that his gameplay has been watered down as a result of 5v5 and power creep. This is why I don't play him as often.

      They just need to bring back ow1 lucio mega power crept too dude. You can’t even have fun with him anymore dude. Like you said so many characters have movement abilities for no reason or some sort of way to complete ignore boops. Environmental kills on my favorite map illios are pretty impossible now bcz so many characters can just get out of the whole if you boop them or tank passive 😒😒. Boop just feels like a cosmetic ability at this point. I feel like it was fine when rein had it and only him but the fact that every tank has it when they already have abilities to counter boops just makes no sense

      Hammond is a great example of how going from 6v6 to 5v5 has made some hero’s just really hard to get the best value from. It seems like tanks have suffered the most because of this. Roadhog, Hammond, and Zarya being the 3 tanks to suffer the most considering they got their best value when they were paired with other tanks that drew fire. But now they suffer from lack of mitigation and mobility which makes them harder to justify playing when 2 other tanks do what they do but better.

    Not to mention, if you have one good engagement in the first fight. The entire enemy team will go orisa, sombra, Mei, brig, etc. immediately. And the enemy team benefits because they retain 30% ult charge!

      Honestly in my games people DO NOT switch to counter ball, but winston they'll instantly go zen, reaper, bastion, hog, etc

      I have been balled hard so many times as tank, but orisa is for pussies who are afraid to get out skilled by a worse hero, and even though I main hog, I wont swap if I already am on him, same goes for dps, never will I ever play sombra or mei, and even cass now, all either so fucking annoying or just for kids who are shit at the game but still need kills

      @@TBreakk exactly, i could be putting up numbers, diving the supports or even trying to make space, protecting teammates, i'll still get hit with "tank throwing" like look at our dps doing 2k damage on the second round or support doing less that 2k healing by the end of the first

      For real, like why is 6v6 not on the table like Yeatle mentioned, they have the ability to revert the team size if they truly wanted to and yes I know it's not designed/balanced with that in mind now but I'd argue neither was OW1 but yet they changed it to 5v5

    My thought on dealing with Sombra specifically is instead of hack locking you out of ball form, it should lock you in whatever form you were in. So if you were in ball, you have to stay in ball, but you are still silenced. No grapple, no shields, but you can roll.

    I agree one million percent about the body blocking, at least half of my deaths on ball are because I set up for an engagement and do everything right, but then I can't fireball out because all the enemy has to do is just run into you before you fireball and your mobility is gone. I've died just from tracer standing in a doorway and being unable to fireball, and it just feels clunky like it isn't how wrecking ball is supposed to play.

      They should enable enemy pass-through when in ball form.
      No more tracer body blocks, you have to hack him out of ball for to body block him, and it doesn't end up hurting the enemy players much because you wont be micro booping them everywhere

      @@artillerycamel1685 I think a better solution would be to have fireball activate right away after you use grappling hook. I’m fine with body blocking while rolling, but you should be able to get a guaranteed out with a grapple.

    I literally quit playing competitively for these reasons and have almost reached the point of quitting the game altogether, ball is really the only hero I enjoy playing. I miss when every game wasn’t just stun, hack, hinder simulator and my damage output wasn’t completely negated by heals outside of 1v1s

      I find it utterly annoying how fast a team just changes to counters and then youre forced to counter their counters. To me to face counters all the time becomes sooo boring. Especially since alot of them fuck up your movement. And the best part, im not even a Ball main... I just like to play him but either QP or comp in GM, in no way Imma play ball into 3-4 hard counters.

      They won't listen... Look at the unbelievable outcry from the doom community, myself included. The amount of times GQO has literally informed them how to fix clunkfist and they just ignore everything. They don't care and will ALWAYS cater to the lowest common denominator for monetary reasons. Why allow a character to have a high skill floor and reward successful skill expression when they can just hard cap the skill ceiling and lower the floor so new players can get the "intended" value the devs are forcing on us?

      ⁠@@Xenro66it’s cause they hyper buffed support so now they make like 60% of the community now so no one listens about all the problems when another role like dps get a strong character it’s a nerf supports can basically be the meta now and be fine tanks make a incredibly Low portion so if they get strong look at how fast they get nerfed likes zens been a problem for so long and yet if you claim he’s strong dps and support players say he’s weak and needs a buff and it’s a skill issue tank is just a unfun role now if we had someone as oppressive as zen or bastion people call bull (and while yes damage players can’t agree to nerf junk or sombra that’s only furthers the point everyone agrees to nerf tank but nothing else)
      Tdlr we make too small of the player base

      @xenro66 couldn't have said it better myself. I express myself through the way I grapple and utilize tech. It's crazy since as soon as I feel like I have one type of tech mastered, another new one comes along the way to make things even more fun and interesting. Sadly, I'll likely be leaving this game behind as the only reason I played was Ball's uniqueness that cannot be found in any other game.

    It's crazy how well this video resonates. It just sucks to be a Ball player. Blizzard never allowed Ball to be good, but at least you could overcome the majority of deficiencies through sheer skill. But right now it just seems like that's not a thing anymore. If a single person wants to ruin your game when you're playing Ball, they can do so without punishment. There is literally no other hero with this kind of interaction. Nothing is this blatantly hard countered without any type of utility cost.

While doom is annoying as a ball player (slam impact on mines and the awkward and unintuitive slowdown), doom was one of those other heroes in this game that was really fun. I enjoyed learning to climb his skill ceiling. I'd say they fucked him up worse than ball now that I think about it.

      @@aeloh6921 Doom is in a much better spot in my opinion. He shares some of the same issues as ball, but just the fact that he has easy access to stuns already makes him pretty strong in skilled hands. He also isn't countered by quite as many heroes as Ball is, though there are still a lot of counters for him.

    They also changed it so that directional input when you're being booped affects where you go, it hurts Lucio as well and Eskay has talked about it. So if you boop someone off a ledge, and they move back toward the ledge, they're a lot more likely to survive than in OW1 where you wouldn't regain control until the boop ended.

I was feeling super down like 2 weeks ago then came across a tournament he played with ML7/Yzsna/aspen/warn from a couple months ago and just watched for like 4-5 hours straight and it'd been a while since I caught much yeatle but those tournaments were always so hype came out feeling great.

    CC immunity with shields up could potentially work. It also rewards you for good timing with shields, as if you get a fat 600 shields, you have a lot of health the enemy needs to burn through, before you become vulnerable again

    the tank role in general has been rendered useless with the overpowerement of supports, ball just got hit the hardest because his whole playstyle was bullying supports wich are now immortal .

      It’s just the main supports that are immortal, excluding Zenyatta but adding Moira.
      Ball was never able to kill Mercy, Lúcio, or Brigitte very well. Now there’s Lifeweaver that’s impossible to kill, but that was made true recently.
      Kiriko is very hard to solo kill, but her only real survivability is teleport, which can put her in a bad spot. If she Suzus just herself, it’s a slight sell depending on the timing.
      Aside from that, Ana and Zenyatta are free kills without peel, Baptiste and Illari can be baited to make for easy kills.

      @@kasm7870 Ana and Zen are free kills without peel but Mercy, Kiri, and LW can all negate forcing that position with TP, GA or pull, ik those may be on CD but if youre on ball they basically wait till you engage to do that. It isnt hard to peel for these heroes especially when you can keep track of ball easier. Not saying he's impossible to play but its certainly not easy even if youre good

      Supports have been power crept so hard... Want to kill one? Well first you have to account for sleep, anti/heal, suzu, teleport, burst heal, aoe heal, immortality field, fade, guardian angel, magnetic grenade, hack, discord, hook, bubbles, dm, shields, etc, etc. Not to mention your own positioning so that you can apply pressure and disengage safely. Manage to do this successfully? Your whole team will die 4v2 to a tank and a single dps anyways. Like, some of these abilites are perfectly fine, but when combined with all the other shit it becomes impossible. Other abilities are pure bullshit.
      Meanwhile support players just click the funny button on the tank and win.

      Funny thing is there's even less tank players in OW2 than OW1, it's just the game is designed so that it doesn't cause queue time issues. In OW you needed 33% of the playerbase on tank for balanced queues, in OW2 you only need 20% on tank but 40% on support. So support gets a ton of attention (good and bad) while tank just exists.

      While I do agree that tank combos are extremely fun and I do miss them, tanks were also the most infuriating part of OW1, or rather, the imbalance the off tank would cause just existing on a certain map, be it acting as a 3rd DPS with a huge health pool or just another brick wall that doesn't let you push the corner. I remember that pain and frustration very well, and I'm sure many who played OW1 can agree, doesn't matter if you were the tank in that situation or not. It just sucked for a long time.
      On the flipside, one tiny mistake and you blew up instantly (something I think has returned with the recent seasons, especially on Doom, Ball and Monke). 1 tank feels much better, for everyone. It gives the tank more agency and meaning to their role, it lets DPS flow like they should (they were a really stale role in OW1 imo), and supports are finally not backline fodder that exist to solely pump heals w the side of utility. I agree that supp are pretty strong right now, but I believe this is more of an inherent issue where it is hard to scale the healing and damage, especially with a new hero dropping every 2 seasons.
      Hopefully they make tank feel good again, I think the role doesn't feel great to play at all rn.

    Another design change in the game that makes playing Ball worse: there is a lot of random geometry that juts out of walls that can screw up his movement. It’s usually just something on a light pole or wall that is meant for decoration, and most heroes don’t encounter it since it’s out of the lanes they play in, but it can totally scuff an engagement or escape and that feels so bad.

    Ball also feels like the most hard countered character in the game it’s so oppressive when people counter it’s like you can’t even have any fun. Hope they do something soon.

      YEAH! Doom and Ball players can't play a 2 games without getting hard countered. Im 400 hours ball player and i have doom main friend(we both getting hard counter after 1 winned team fight). Someone could say skill issue, but why the f almost everyone thinks it's their duty to counter ball/doom.

    Hey Yeatle, I totally get where you're coming from with your video. Being a 'ball' main used to be an absolute blast; you could pull off all sorts of crazy moves with Hammond. And you know what? The character pushed you to step up your game-nailing those grapple spots, nailing those 'wall jumps,' and totally mastering the grapple speed. I thought mastering all that stuff was like a sweet reward, but right now, playing it feels like a total headache. So many times, I'm doing what seems right, but it's like anyone can just shut down my engagement, and it's even worse when your team gets left to die.
    Oh, and that thing you mentioned about 'body blocking'? No doubt, I was thinking the same thing. It's like, you're all pumped up for an initiation, and then bam, you're stuck watching the other team wreck you.
    That little boop change you talked about? Sounds epic, man. That could seriously make things way less of a grind and a lot less frustrating. Here's to hoping they sort it out, or at least do something. Ball used to be my ultimate go-to for fun in Overwatch, but right now, it's like I don't even feel like touching it.

    ima be honest i would still play the game today if ball was playable, he was like the only champ i still cared to play and when overwatch 2 came out it just felt like he was gutted and forced to play like a completely different champ. while other tanks felt better to play it just feels like he was left out and was expected to find a place that just wasnt there

    Yeah this was my biggest problem with 5v5. Getting into Ball is what kept me around for most of the content drought so the shift and him being unable to effectively play how he wants is what kept me from keeping on playing (from gameplay standpoint at least). I'd definitely want the DPS Ball for a return to form but if he must be a Tank, CC immune with shields or being immune to bodyblock is the way to go.

    I've had the theory for a while that every hero is powercreeping except for ball. He just feels harder to play every single patch (except for that 1 time they made him pretty solid and then nerfed him in like a week). I think this is because ball has such an insanely high skill ceiling it can feel pretty damn oppressive playing against a really good ball when the hero is also good even if most of the player base can only get an average amount of value out of Hammond. Glad to see other ballers have similar thoughts.

    i think giving ball the reverse doomfist treatment would be amazing. more damage in ball form, little less knockback potential, lean into mobility rather than health, rework shield, and boom. it'd make him actually feel like a high impact wrecking ball, instead of a low damage bouncy ball.

    We all love Ball and wanna see him be as fun as he can be, making a video like this brings awareness to a problem that's hard to see so I'm very happy you made it.
    Also, any heroes you'd recommend Ball mains try out? owo
    I think CC Immunity during Adaptive Shields would actually be a pretty interesting gameplay dynamic. Do you use shields early to ensure your engagement isn't interrupted? Or do you use shields a bit later to get more hp but risk your engagement being interrupted? Some other tweaks they could do if that's too much is (probably only 1 or 2 of these things):
    - make it immunity to hard CC like stuns/hacks/hinder/etc but just increased resistance to soft CC like knockback and slows instead of immunity (I don't like this one as much but if it's way too strong then it's a decent tweak)
    - reduce the duration of shields to make the aforementioned gameplay dynamic more pronounced
    - reduce the radius of shields for the same effect as the previous tweak
    - reduce the hp gained to shift some of the power towards the CC immunity (but not too much so you're still sacrificing a lot of bonus hp for the earlier CC Immunity)
    - changing the cooldown to be lower/higher appropriately
    I also like the idea of making Ball unable to be bodyblocked. Just make it so he passes through enemies and can slightly nudge enemies just like you can with your teammates. This would be very nice for quality of life and also lower the skill floor of Ball a bit (as it's easy for newer Ball players to get stuck on enemies during a grapple and mess up engages) which might reduce everyone's frustration (both the Ball's the the Ball's team lol).
    I was honestly shocked when you mentioned Ball being a DPS LMAO- I hadn't ever thought of it, but the more I think about it the less resistance I feel towards it, even though I'm still hesitant to say it's a good idea and am still attached to the idea of Ball being a Tank (even though I felt the same about Doom but now I like him again). We have several hybrid characters, Mei is even already a DPS/Tank hybrid, why not? That honestly sounds quite nice and I'd be interested in seeing how that goes even though I'm still a bit hesitant about the idea. Poor execution could ruin Ball completely so it'd need to be done with care, but it's a great idea!! There's precedent for Hero size changes and Role swaps even outside of the transition to OW2 (Ball got sick of everyones shit just decided to go full gremlin mode and make his mech smaller so it's less dense and tanky but quicker and harder to hit- LMAO), so I wouldn't completely count it out if the devs also see the problem and thought it an idea with potential.
    I wish when they made the move to 5v5 they took a bit more consideration with how each hero would be changed by it, considering they were designed on the foundation of 6v6. Ball slipped through the cracks it seems, and he's a very disliked hero so I doubt we're going to see something done about it anytime soon :(

    I feel this video. Heal creep and mobility creep are real. Hard to be any dive tank without coordination with your team (which doesn’t happen), and hard to dive any backline when most of the supports have multiple get out of jail free options. Just feels bad to have to play so patiently only to get counter picked.

    You know, Yeatle.... i remember the days when i used to come home from school, wich was kinda frustrating for me. And finding you on twitch, me starting to play ball, reaching diamond and havin the best time of my life. Nowdays with a fulltime job, i dont have time to watch twitch or play ow for hours and hours. But when the night comes and it would be time for a little fun ow, seen the only hero i really had fun with beeing this LOW doesnt feel good. I really hope that one day blizzard will gix the issues and we can have ball back again. ❤ Also thank you for all the content u made during the years. Keep it up sir.     Thanks, Yeatle. You've certainly cleared up really well why it's really difficult, and not so much fun, to play ball nowadays. Balls got shafted big time with the 5 v 5 change. Imagine if instead of taking away one tank, they had taken away one healer role and someone chose Brig to do all the healing for the rest of the team. That's kind of what happened with poor hammond. He's a side flanking tank. But he can't be that no more in OW2. RIP.

    Awesome video thank you for making this. You were the reason I put hundreds of hours into ball many years ago, and I'm technically still a ball main. However, like you said in this video I've been playing other heroes for months now because it currently doesn't feel very enjoyable to play him.     I think tank is suffering a lot because of similar issues, all the overwatch 1 tanks were built for 6v6 and aren’t nearly as flexible as the ow2 tanks. And on top of that tank often feels like a game of rock paper scissors now where you just have to pick the counter to deal with the enemy tank

      I think all of the tanks except ball were adapted well into 5v5, I prefer it to the 6v6 of OW1. The issue with ball is it feels like you always either steamroll or get rolled until you are forced to swap. Ball needs to be less hard countered by specific heroes and be more killable by all heroes, also maybe give him more pick potential, and I’d want that in the form of his guns doing more damage

      @@jxgalaxy3810you said that perfectly, it is annoying that the only way to stop ball is for everyone to switch, he should be more killable by all and offer him a way to be more on the frontline, maybe remove his grapple and instead give him better guns and the ability to evade and roll away like moira or soijorn, something like that. Or maybe like ram where his ball form only last for a few seconds. (Sombra needs an invisibility timer as well)

      @@jondoe853 I don’t think the answer to making ball more killable is to remove what makes him ball. I would completely drop this character if he was reworked rather than adjusted. CC immunity on his E and a lower total HP would be my way of making him more balanced.

    This video kinda sums up the reason that i've stopped playing overwatch all together. towards the end of OW1 (when i stopped playing) i started to feel as though i couldn't play what characters i wanted to because there was simple better options i should've played. i feel like the change to 5v5 shifted the dynamics to much as well because playing in the betas felt really restrictive because off the lack of tank, and also how my favorite hero (doomfist) felt awful to play for me because he never felt like a tank to me. great video, and i really share your sentiment

    I see ball and Lucio having a lot of parallels. The way the best players on both characters have still been able to see success is phenomenal mechanics. Watching chasm or frogged do their thing is crazy sometimes and certainly is not viable for any amateur to copy. The character has such a high skill ceiling but also a higher skill floor.

    I can relate to everything you said, from the enemy dps and healers waiting for a 4 v 1 doing nothing else in their back line to not being able to catch anyone in the ult like the old days. I noticed that most of the time the minefield gets a kill when there is a lot of confusion on the enemy team and they literally wall into it, sometimes 10-15 secs after it's been there.

    Here here. It can’t be understated how calmly and reasonably you expressed the issues with ball and frustrations it can lead to. Thanks for that.
    It’d be nice to see a 6v6 mode come back. It could be a balancing nightmare, but I’m fine with little-to-no balancing, even if I’m on DPS or Support. Two enemy tanks would be absolute tyranny and borderline bullying for squishies, but I’m down with that.
    I can’t personally see how to change or buff ball in a healthy, fun way, but I hope it happens.

    I feel this and definitely agree. I think there are some small buffs they could do to simply make him more viable, like just a little more damage, but as someone who has Ball as my most played hero, I can relate.

    I think another important factor that wasn’t mentioned was the way adaptive shields is treated. Everyone points to it as the evil because it’s like a Winston ult but on a cooldown when in actuality primal is much more than the hp and shields is literally nothing more than hp. It gives 50% ult charge but it also loses a trade with every other dps or tank cd or most of the support cds. It has a longer cd than so many other more powerful abilities and it’s uptime is long enough for half of an engage in a team fight

    I have never played comp that much on OW and when I did I have always been bronze (yes I suck).
    But just before the latest season I started to play ball and have ton of fun and trying to get good and were just about to search some ball videos of you cause I remember watching your streams pre OW2. I understand and respect you.
    I will see if I start mixing tank picks and maybe goes back to play comp and I guess I can still play ball on comp games because again.. im bronze xD

    Personally I think one thing that need to happen eventually is the way both hack and magnade work in general. In my opinion hack should have never been able to interupt ball form, and magnade should not interupt already activated abilities.
    I think Sombra's new hack is way too strong against ball. Not only does she kill your momentum, but you are now visible to the whole enemy team for 8 sec which completely kills the surprise factor of you engaging. By not interrupting ball form, Sombra's hack stays a good ball counter (break the grapple, reveal him for 8 sec), but is no longer a complete counter.
    For nade, that's clearly not a problem exclusive to ball but to the whole cast. I actually like the idea behind the new magnade, but the execution is not quite there. It way meant to counter squishy divers like genji/tracer/sombra but what it actually did was completely destroy both ball and doom. By not interupting abilities but just preventing the press of the button, it can still counter what it's supposed to (mainly blink, recall, dash and translocator) but it doesn't nullify doom's or ball engage and retreat, or Junkerqueen's whole ult.
    That's obviously not it, but it would really help.

    I picked up Wrecking Ball in OW2 with no prior history of playing him in OW1. But I remembered thinking on his release, “this is who I wanna main” so when OW2 rolled around, I became a full on Ball one trick. I got pretty good with him too, itd be common for me to practice techs and rollouts for a solid hour or two before my friends would get online. I absolutely loved playing Wrecking Ball, I love the character, love the movement, just, everything. Although as time went on, I started feeling like despite practicing and putting tons of time onto this character, and genuinely improving with him in ways I never thought I could, it felt like I was actively being punished by the game for pursuing it. The amount of interactions that just don’t favor ball, the way you have to put in more work than any other hero to secure any sort of value, just for it to be shut down by one of many abilities to shut ball down, it grew old. Why should I be punished by a single button press when I have to scout the situation, plan a route, and successfully pull off grapple mechanics and movement tech? And with the heavy amounts if backlash I would constantly get to switch off ball, I started becoming insecure of my own abilities. I started to feel pressure when I’d play ball. Like every single action I took was being judged. During that period, I had 1 specific game where one of my teammates just flamed me to hell in back, which, normally, I don’t care, it comes with the Wrecking Ball lifestyle. But something about my interaction with this guy just really disheartened me. To the point that I dropped Ball. The only time I would pick ball after that, was the shooting range between matches. Very shortly after, I quit the game as a whole. I still love the hampter, hit my highest highs with him, but inevitably sunk me to my lowest lows as well. While it was always a good ego boost to see a teammate say im the best ball theyve seen here n there, or seeing a the entire enemy team switch to counter me, the lows ended up outweighing the highs.
    Only way I’d ever come back is if they bring 6v6 back, but as if that’ll ever happen. Ball is not suited for 5v5 nearly as much as the other tanks, and Blizzard should have put more care into him with the transition to the new game.
    Lil’ Hampter guy will always live on in my heart, even if I dont play this absolute pile of dogshit we call Overwatch 2.

    I hope ball gets a damage buff on his primary cause there are way too many times where I feel like a tank version of tracer that does less damage than tracer, not enough to easily kill people, just enough to feel just a tad bit quicker, also I kinda hope that they give him maybe a 1 second hinder on piledriver to prevent a Kiriko or a mercy from just insta-escaping and leaving you needing to pray that you don’t get hacked or hindered or something.

Ball shouldnt have high damage, but there are plenty of times where his guns feel like they are tickling people. There are also plenty of characters that can just cause your hp to be deleted instantaneously, since he doesn't have a block, eat or reflect ability.

      It's mostly a problem with mobility reliant tanks like doom and ball because they have no protection from CC. DvA and Winston have bubble/defense matrix, ball shields and doom block don't stop CC, so they are at a huge disadvantage compared to the other mobile tanks.

    fr i totally agree and i used to main ball throughout ow1. i loved playing him cause he was so dynamic, and i had to change how i played him every game depending on how my team was playing. its alot harder to play him well now without playing around another tank imo

    ive been a ball main since before role queue because of your videos and have always loved watching them. I was able to go from less than 700 SR Bronze to 2700 SR Plat in OW1 and then in OW2 i actually hit masters. All while playing ball throughout. But it comes with each new character, each patch, that ball is getting left behind in the power and mobility creep that im seeing in terms of dps and supports. Ive found that playing in masters or playing with my friends in silver, picking fights as ball are not fun anymore and just stressful as making 1 singular mistake in an engagement can lead to your death and you "throwing". I tried explaining this to my duo queue dps who was confused as to why I like OW1 more as a tank main

    Oi brasileiro aqui. Eu acompanho seus videos e sou um main ball desde sempre. Sempre adorei o personagem e ele é disparado o meu favorito e o que eu mais sei jogar. Foi uma caminhada dificil (e ainda é) mas hoje eu sou um bom jogador com ele... bem ate o ultimo nerf e nessas ultimas temporadas... sei la parece que é mesml todo o esforco em que voce coloca nao traz tanto impacto pr time adversario (e voce morre em dois segundos mesmp com full shield). Sei la ta meio complicado mesmo pro nosso hammond

    To this day, I find it ridiculous how sombra can still hack ball out of his ball form. Also minefield is a really odd one, the 1s minefield was very powerful, but with how it requires set up, I would argue it was pretty fair.

      As an ana main it felt really unfair, good balls had their ult pretty much every fight and there was basically no chance to react.

      mf thats the only counter ball had against you, plus as ana you have lifegrip, cleanse, immortality field, speed boost and who knows how many more abilities to save you from other heroes. Currently, ana just fcks up with ball @@lukasg4807

      Ana is arguably the least "broken" support along with lucio and zen, they're characters with a strong impact but who can be easily punished when they make mistakes. You can punish ana or zen easily any time they're out of position, while if they play well they can have a proportionate impact. Compare that to every other support in the game who all have some bs get out of jail free for zero skill card. I'd much rather play against supports who are actually punished for mistakes.
      Also Ana is far from the best support in this meta.
      I like ball players, they put time into a cool character, but old ball mines were basically as deadly as orisa ult for non mobility heroes but on the most mobile tank in the game.

    as an overwatch 2 only player who mains ball on tank i think it’s more just a play style thing. he can still be very useful if you can target the same people as the dps
    that said i think disabling his body blocking would be amazing. all he really needs is like rein swing boop when rolling it’d be perfect

    So sad as a fellow ball main. I finally managed to hit GM on ball… But the points you mention (mainly about not being able to mark the enemy tank) just makes me feel that I need to output 2x the value to win since my team can’t kill a tank without me occupying both supports for 10+ seconds

    🎳 Quadruple knockback on damage and supports, double knockback for tanks

      To add to that being able to wrap an enemy in grapple rope, and the rope bends according to the environment and helps fling you in a certain direction.

    Here is my list of wants for ball
    (1) When adaptive shields are engaged - spikes comes out that do extra damage to tanks. This would allow ball to at least go head-to-head with other tanks
    (2) Knock back on other tanks is not reduced for ball
    (3) Stun immunity when adaptive shields are up
    (4) Increased ammo to 100
    (5) Reduce reload speed to 1.5s in mech & ball form

      I was just jokingly saying that all the buffs you listed were too much if given to ball all at once. I do agree he needs buffs as I use him a lot, and I like the knockback effect being fully powered against tanks along with the adaptive shield cc immunity suggestions!@@CB-yh3db

    All of this will not stop me enjoying ball. I already have 300 games played for season 6 as a ball otp in GM lobbies. All of the counter and cc abilities will not stop the grind!

    In open queue I think he shines more since the meta is often double (or even triple) tank. Ball as a DPS would be so much fun! I actually kind of hope they do that.

    I've thought basically since I started playing OW when OW2 first released that ball would be better off if he was smaller and a DPS. I wish they would do something like that for him. I enjoy playing him but the skill floor is so high that I'm throwing because I can't provide the same value as other tanks.

    Yeatle you are the reason i became a ball player, and after years of grinding I got t500 on console ow2. Its a huge shame how miserable he feels currently, it feels like you pop off first fight then watch them go 4 different counters to wrecking ball and you dont get to play anymore.

    Seeing good ball play (haha) was always satisfying, hopefully the devs hear you and possibly beaver out on ways to buff him. Granted, it would suck to see him kill my backline every game, but he's such an expressive character, it'd be a shame to leave him behind

    I hit top 500 with ball (on console, so like silver on pc) I always loved playing it because I enjoyed watching yeatle! After watching this video I no longer feel like playing ball. This video killed my hope and dreams when it comes to playing ball.

    I would personally love to see adaptive shield make him immune to certain effects, namely hack and hinder like effects, maybe also increase his overall knockback resistance too with shields up. That way he's more free, has to use shields more carefully and gives him actual outplay to the tank killing abilities like every other tank has. I would also like to see his knock back against tanks increased, just so it actually feels like he has an impact against them.

    Losing the second tank was one of the most damaging things for the game. Almost all the off tanks need to double their effort but they sometimes physically can’t.

    Feel like Orisa took his place. Harder to kill, easier to heal, more mobile now and can boop and reflect damage using her ability. Hammond isn’t that unkillable tank anymore it’s orisa.

      @@m4gnum203 Usually if someone switches to Sombra for me then I see if they are a good Sombra or not, and either:
      1. if they are a bad sombra, then I can just outplay them as ball. Either find their translocator, or just avoid them by flying around the map. Or you can try playing with your team more so she exposes herself to your team whenever she hacks you.
      2. If it's a good sombra, or I just don't feel like worrying about Sombra, I switch to one of my alt tanks like Zarya and then sombra becomes pretty useless.

    The loss of a tank role has destroyed a lot of opportunities for tanks. It was always a case of a main tank and off tank but now every tank just feels overtuned and unfair in a way and junkerqueen/rammatra are never gonna have that feel that tanks did in ow1

    i didn’t join OW until March 2022, and didn’t even touch Ball until like 2 weeks before OW2, but he immediately became my main bc of how goddamned fun he is.
    i have about 300 hours on Overwatch & i’ve put about 150 hours into this hero, and i don’t see any sign of stopping - but damn is he an unforgiving, unrespected hero to play.
    i currently enjoy Balling for Balls sake, and i am getting a lot out of playing to improve, so losing doesn’t bother me, and i mostly stick to QP anyway.
    i just want to see what i can do and where i can take myself mechanically.
    but damn is it hard to be the only tank as Ball. you have to do So Much and you have to do it Perfectly to get proper value.
    it’s fun, don’t get me wrong. and carrying on Ball feels incredible.
    but between how many APM i have to have compared to the other tank, and how few people understand how to play with a Ball… idk sometimes Rein or Sigma be looking a little good.
    definitely agree with the no body blocking thing. i thought for balance it could be “when grapple is attached” but i’d be super happy for just “no”.

    Thank you for this video yeatle, I think ball mains have felt this way for awhile so its nice to have that feeling somewhat validated by the OG. That said, maybe this is just my unlimited copium, but aren't these new flashpoint modes ball heaven? Don't you see a place for him in that mode? I've felt so far that while you likely will have an enemy sombra or tracer marking you, the maps are so huge and flanky that I feel as if I'm still providing more value on ball than I typically would with him on other modes. Especially in times when a new point has been unlocked, ball can stall the crap out of the enemy to help your team get the position first

    I think either make his shields apply to nearby teammates, like a lesser Lucio ult, or make pile dive frickin op and maybe stun for ult-dive combo to actually work.

    Totally agree with so much. I switch almost straight away when there is a sombra or Cassidy. I think they need to buff his left click damage specially when a mercy can out heal your left click.
