I can’t find kombu, will nori work? This looks sooo good! Edit: I just made this and it was amazing!!! I’m sure kombu would be much better, but the nori worked pretty good! Also, I added rice noodles, because sometimes a girl just needs her noodles 😁
Ooh, I love vegan miso! I've never thought of making it myself for some reason though. Thanks for sharing this video, I'm going to make some this weekend. I'm glad she pointed out that by using mushrooms you can get the umami flavor that normally comes from bonito stock.
In the early 80s, I became macrobiotic, so was introduced to all these ingredients. Best thing I ever did. I still love this food, but have broadened a little in my plant based journey. Great video. Thanks to your guest and for sharing this great food.
Hello so I just can’t keep the show I watched on Netflix called What The Health I really recommend it. It will open all minds to bring vegan and I promise you will not regret watching it. If I didn’t say it before it’s called ‘What The Health’ on Netflix
Excellent video and recipe. Haven't had Miso soup but will be trying it because I have had Miso in other recipes. Great to see your friend from veggiekins and that you have vegan friends.
If you order from Rejuvenative Foods you can get amazing organic miso, more variety than I've seen anywhere else, even for people looking for soy free.
Caitlin! I love your videos and I’ve found your recipes to be so delicious!! I please please PLEASE 🙏🏼 need your help! My boyfriend is interested in going vegan but he has the palate of an absolutely stubborn child. He loves meat replacer and fruits but absolutely hates nearly all vegetables, mushrooms and beans. He’ll only eat corn and spinach. What can I do to make healthier vegan meals for the both of us?
I tried doing this twice but the soup only tastes like warm water, my special other says its not salty at all. Im really frustrated I can't do this simple thing
Non-vegan is easy. Just use fish stock or bonita flakes. But for a vegan alternative without seaweed, try green tea. Just a couple of green tea bags clipped to the side of your soup pot while you're simmering vegetables or try Matcha powder.
It's an acquired taste. I would use some chopped kale. I buy it frozen in the health section of my store. It won't taste the same, but good. If you can use it to create the broth, like they did, with the kombu, and remove it, it will help to create the stock. If you want to get used to it, little by little, try sprinkling some brown rice with some 'gomashio' (sesame seeds, ground up with sea salt) that has some flakes of sea vegetable in it. Change takes time. I have come to love it, but still don't like it in large amounts. I use kombu in the bottom of the pot, when cooking beans... remove it before eating the beans. It is said to be healthy.
can we talk about how absolutely adorable caitlin and remy are this is so heartwarming

i tried out this recipe yesterday and my mom and sister loved it so much!!!

This is a lifesaver!! thank you guys so much
Great recipe girls . Nice to have a good vegan miso soup.
dis is the cutest video
I love Remy’s channel ❤️
Yes! Now I can use the Miso to got!
If I have seaweed sheets meant for sushi, can I use it? Do I let it soak in water? Or can I put it directly into the pot?

Awesome video. I like it when you invite other vegans to show off their food. This looks delicious! :)
I love miso soup, this one seems very tasty.
you're both wonderful!!!! 🥰
Meg Josephson i love you girl!!
I’ve always wondered how to make this!
100% going to make that soup
Looks amazing!
Try to put a sift in the water and dissolve the miso into it so you don't get little bits of miso that don't dissolve
Thank you for a nice video!
Please make a Vegan Pho recipe 🙏🏼
Omg Remi 😍
Yes!, I need a new soup recipe. My soups are just veggies and tonight I added beans and pasta.
Yummy

We’re can you buy mushrooms like that I’ve never seen them
Asain markets, there is a Korean market bear my house, they've got all of this stuff.
Where do you buy mushrooms like that? I’ve never seen those :(
You'll find them in your local asian grocery store x
Wegmans has some I actually bought a different mushroom instead
i love miso soup 😍😩
My dream come true, two vegans at the same time :D
Everytime one of these women say "like" take a shot.
Good luck in the ER.
Soooo... where would I find the seaweeds?? 😭😭😭
She’s so pretty
was looking for this comment lol... good thing I wasn't the only one that noticed
Remy you forgot about scallions xD
I tried doing this twice but the soup only tastes like warm water, my special other says its not salty at all. Im really frustrated I can't do this simple thing
so what i get from this is that you gotta put the sea weed on water before using it?? can someone clarify this please?
Hi catlin
Remy I expected you to make a different soup vegan but if you make Ratatoulie I'll forgive you
COOL :)
Caitlin you still doing oil pulling?
She spoke very quickly
I absolutely hate seaweed... What can I use instead?
Lila Ezran that’s the base of the stock and a crucial ingredient of miso soup..
@@sersastark I have a friend who served non-vegan miso soup at a party last week and she didn't use any seaweed in it, so I guess it can be done?

Wqit aint lard animals fat?? Im not trying to sound like a wise ass I'm really curious
fish.. is not vegetarian... great vid anyway!
I think she meant fish sauce and not a whole fish so it would be this day and age's definition of vegetarian
they didn't use fish.
@@rav_666_ no???
@@smk9320 they didn't, but said the traditional recipe was not vegan, but vegetarian as it uses fish stock
She said the standard is vegetarian "except for the fish sauce."
