The lesson from MF Doom is you can be a very good rapper, but you need something to stand out. That mask, his persona and his mystique makes him stand out from just being a good rapper.
I know people are entitled to their own opinions, but Madvilliany at 6 is just crazy, and did I hear you down play "Hey!" That track is one of the greatest hip-hop tracks ever recorded.
I swear the jokes that got snipped would’ve had the doomheads rollin… but i’ll just leave one…. “If these takes are too hot to handle, you got blue sandals”
As a Zoomer DOOM fan, tracks like All Caps and Accordion resonated with my peers far more than any other underground hip-hop songs tbh, Madvillainy gotta be top 5 at minimum
#6 - you've gotta be kidding me! How am I supposed to take the rest of this list seriously after that placement of Madvillainy. Slot it anywhere in his top 3 and nobody would be mad, except maybe those who consider it HIS BEST.
‘Monster Zero’ is one of my favourite interludes of all time. ‘Madvillainy’ is definitely not #1 (I think our love of ‘The Boondocks’ makes it as coveted as it is…) My #1 and #2 is yours swapped 😅
The funny thing is I don't entirely disagree with every critique thrown at Madvillainy. There are a few moments that feel unnecessary or too abbreviated and it's not the most cohesive project. However, there's one point made that simply puzzles me. "It's more a glorified mixtape/beattape hybrid". Why is that inherently a bad thing? Sure it's not conceptual in nature, but it doesn't really need to be and denouncing it as lesser for that isn't really fair when you have 2 of the best to ever do it in their respective fields having fun and showing undeniable chemistry. I don't think it's perfect either, but it's still amazing and deserves to be higher up.
The instrumentals feel like they execute the whole commercial break concept from the 4 mmfood tracks better as well. They're placed strategically and really help bridge different sections of the album. The variety is tied together by a cohesive atmosphere that is far more compelling than any of the concepts from his non mm food albums and the only real stain is hardcore hustle imo. Also eye is an amazing song.
Just one more example of this pages knowledge of hip-hop. Wonder how old the average the reviewing team is. I respect every opinion but if these peeps listen to hip-hop, most ratings are just for controversy.
In my opinion his top 3, in whatever order you like, are MM FOOD, Madvillainy, and Vaudeville Villain. Operation Doomsday is probably 4th and Mouse and Mask, BLT, TMTYL can be whatever order from 5-7. There really is no compelling argument for TMTYL (which has a ton of tracks without DOOM) and Mouse and Mask over Madvillainy. Yall are just being contrarians to rage bait people.
I like that your list isn't like everybody else. What's the point of watching a video just to see someone say the exact same thing that we've all heard a thousand times while I would have madvillainy higher, I also don't think it's his best I think. Vaudeville villain is his best album. After that I would have danger doom and madville and III some of the production on mm... Food I don't really get into It's still an 8 out of 10 album for me and I just bought the re-release on vinyl so I do still love it but don't listen to whiners your list is your list
I'm not even a hardcore fan and I have to say y'all messed this one up. king geedorah is a HARD listen. and I'll say it... concept albums are NOT inherently better than non-concept albums... I repeat CONCEPT ALBUMS ARE NOT inherently better than regular albums. when part of your review is that an album has a bunch of filler skits and you rank it higher than better non-concept albums it looks crazy.
Agreed. Concept albums in and of themselves are not inherently better. But every concept album DOOM did, except VV2, is by far better than Madvillainy.
@@SimonHillKeepsItTrill not even close. it's mm... food, then it's madvillainy. and I don't know what version of "king geedorah" y'all got, but that thing is not great. the album that actually deserves to be reconsidered is doomsday. its good... but its not as good as initial response says. outside of a few stand outs
Madvillainy at 6 LOOOOOL
They’re either a bait channel or they’ve just horrible taste. Too many times it’s happened now. The guy running it seems goofy ngl
Madvillainy is to Hip-Hop what gentrification is to Black communities
@@SimonHillKeepsItTrillare you genuinely disabled?
I thought madvilliany at 6 was him trolling until I found out he was being serious. 💀
Madvilliany and Operation Doomsday should at least be top 3
POLL BOYYYYY
Doomsday needs to be no.1
I LET OUT AN AUDIBLE “WHAT?!!!” when number 6 came up
Facts me too!!
Madvillainy is to Hip-Hop what Pitchfork reviews are to Gucci Mane albums
Great ranking!!! Please do a Doom collaboration ranking. I'd love to see a Czarface ranking too.
thank you. took a lot of effort
I don’t think madvillany is mf best album but putting it at 6 is insane to me. And operation doomsday is easily top three
The lesson from MF Doom is you can be a very good rapper, but you need something to stand out. That mask, his persona and his mystique makes him stand out from just being a good rapper.
MadVillany should be number one
I agree with the Madvillainy ranking but disagree that Dead Bent is a low point on Operation Doomsday.
His top 5 is one of the strongest in rap history. RIP to one of the all time greats. Looking forward to this vid
great writing, great video!!! 💥💯
❤
Madvilliany at number 6 I was about to throw the phone out the window, bruh are you high??? But we need that Atmosphere album ranking
Madvillainy is to Hip-Hop what Kenny G is to jazz.

Mf doom in a word #Iconic
MM…FOOD was always my favorite of his
Batty Boyz is one of the funniest song ever made lmao grow up
I fw this ranking and the Madvillainy analysis
It needed to be said 😮
MF Doom has to be up there with greatest underground rapper of all time.
I swear the jokes that got snipped would’ve had the doomheads rollin… but i’ll just leave one….
“If these takes are too hot to handle, you got blue sandals”
So glad you’ve finally decided to rank the goat’s discography

yes. it is.

Brave (foolhardy maybe) to put it at 6, but I do listen to mmm Food, Vaudeville Villain and Take Me To Your Leader a lot more then Madvillany...
Madvillainy is to Hip-Hop what raisins in potato salads is to a Black Thanksgiving dinner
Take me to your leader should be #3 agree with the #1 and #2. Madvillian is #4

Y'all not even pronouncing King Geedorah correctly either. This ranking has no credibility.
Madvillainy is to Hip-Hop what the claim Elvis is the King of Rock n Roll is to Black music history

Do a young Dolph ranking please
I listened to Madvillany to try to relax and rest.
Tyler and Earl lost their minds when they met MF Doom.

Madvillainy is to Hip-Hop what Daniel Penny and George Zimmerman is to Black life
The one and only!!!!!
Mouse and the mask in my opinion is his best work
I might agree…. It changes back and forth but I’m pretty sure it’s my favourite.

I wouldn’t worry about madvillainy being number 6 lol. They’ve called born like this ‘born this way’. I think that’s lady gaga lads lol
MCs SOUND LIKE CHEERLEADERS
Saying that Madlib’s beats were carrying Madvillainy is legitimately the worst music take I’ve heard in my life. Wtf are you smoking
Smoking that Budapest I’ll show you who the best. Releasing vocal trilogies…….
