George Lynch, has what most guitar players don't have. A distinct style, years of experience, Gold and Platinum records , accolades from real musicians that admire him. But to me that all frivolous. What matters to me his music with Dokken, Lynch Mob etc.. His work has been a light to me in the good times and dark times. The fact is that is he is a great real person is the icing on the cake.

Can't believe that all my 37 years of playing and being a Lynch fan since the early '80's that before this video I saw a 9 minute Blues type instructional and just one note, one! My pentatonic runs sound like him. Cool.

His sound is so unique. Even if it's something you've never heard before you can tell it's Lynch.
This man took the guitar and shaped the sound to exactly how he wanted it, no holds barred.
That's why I'm such a huge Lynch fan!

+Paradjian Michaël Yup, I always knew Lynch was a humanitarian and had a very sincere personality and so it follows just and correct he speaks out about the (design) that is going to wipe out many ethnic groups as these atrocities are b'coming more prevailant not a 'thing of the past'.
      Love you Mr Scary!

Great performance here. Nice use of dynamics and perfect melodic control. In general I have noticed that he's a bit less aggressive as he gets older but that's natural. I miss it, but this is off the charts in terms of his incessant use of highly developed technique used in the service of the song. It's like a vocal line with greater range that's never stops. This is one of his best "recent" performances. I hope he's capable of getting back to this level again. This is the sound I fell in love with perhaps somewhat mellowed and more restrained with age.

George isn't talking about politics, he's talking about the media, how it continues to pull the wool over our eyes, so to speak, and he's explaining what inspired him and his fellow musicians to write the songs and music that they have and do, music comes from somewhere, something spurs the motivation to write, something; an event, a tragedy, something that makes us wake up and fight the good fight (yes cliche, although oh so true) so we don't remain static, so that we don't lie down when things are clearly wrong, so that we speak up, musicians do that with...their music, the music is their language, full of the richest vocabulary. Enough about that, George still has incredible "chops" and has not changed as a player; phrasing, note selection, execution...everything spot on, everything is still there, the distinct slide vibrato, George's wider and more soulful vibrato, period (you can try to reproduce, although George and only George can play the way he plays) legato (especially the two handed technique done only with his left hand, also one of the coolest and distinctly played by the one and only George Lynch, not to mention incredibly difficult to execute in an effective and most importantly, affective manner) watching George play is a real gift. The little places where players seem to miss notes, don't play perfectly (oh yeah, we're all human so we're not perfect, we can't be) those are the really incredible moments, those moments are what separate the live musician from the studio. Musicians can't take the studio with them, it would get quite heavy, George, thanks for inspiring all of us throughout all of the years and all of the tears shed on your guitars; thanks for sharing and continuing to share your tremendous gift with all of us. LISTEN, don't judge, and remember the many trails of tears, the battle that wounded a knee, the battle, AGAIN, that wounded the same knee for the same insanity hundreds of years later, these are real people, killed by genocide and hate, George is giving back and bringing the wrong into the light with his music so that we can all begin to heal (yeah, haven't even begun yet and that's horrible after all of these thousands of years) because for one culture to live, all cultures have to contribute to the healing, especially so those that were here first, the true owners of our land, can finally be heard, not for politics, not for being "liberal"... yada yada yada, we weren't born with labels and we will never have them, we were born as human beings, that's all that was ever intended.

    • @doublestrokeroll
      @doublestrokeroll 9 лет назад +2

      +Christopher Marquis
      George isn't a "liberal"
      He's an Anarchist....
Anyone name dropping Chomsky and Zinn and doing the things he is doing is about as far from "liberal" (the typical american definition) as you can get.
I've just found a whole new respect for george that goes well beyond his guitar playing.

Both have very idiosyncratic styles. Malmsteen absolutely revolutionised rock guitar playing .. in terms of the way rock guitar players played the instrument. Sweep picking, arpeggios super fast economy picking etc. he utterly changed the game. George didn't have that big of an impact. His technique is not that far removed from Van Halen, and Eddie gets the credit for popularising tapping, whammy dive bombs, pinch harmonics, fast picking etc.. Nevertheless, George is an awesome player, and Under Lock and Key is one of my favourite albums.

GL is one of my heroes...he has an instantly-identifiable sound and melodic style and that's the mark of a master...i've owned over 300 (mostly hi-end and vintage) guitars and have gigged thegl256 for about 7 years...it's a phenomenal guitar that feels like a perfectly broken in pair of faded jeans...don't let the affordable cost fool you...my 256 is vastly superior in every way to my $3500 fender CS relic strat.

Two life changing events..... hearing Waiting for the Bus (Tres Hombres) 1974 and hearing Wicked Sensation 1991. Both these albums i have religiously played everyday since i got em. The first thing i though when i heard George was there has to be Billy Gibbons in there. How amazing to find that Billy Changed Georges life too. And what do these guys have that make the the players they are? Tone! and Phrasing! Wicked Sensation for me, is probably Georges finest as it all just fits together and his playing is awesome! Hey, but thats just me. Back to the drawing board, need to get some of those Lynch chops together. Luv Ya George! Awesome player and awesome dude too! And everything you said about the Indians? Very Very sad.... makes my blood boil? What gauge strings do you use? Applause!!!! Ha Ha!

I find it horribly sad that any American would think that honoring those who were here before us, and ensuring that every US citizen has the opportunity to enjoy the rights, privileges and immunities of being an American, is either a "liberal" or "conservative" agenda. There is a subjective element to so much of our political bullshit, but right will always be right, and wrong will always be wrong. Kudos to George, who - despite all his very many successes and also failures, and despite pushing the ripe old age of 60 - still remains an absolute monster on the guitar, a true craftsman and artist, and a humble and grateful entertainer. Whether you like his music or playing or not, dudes like Lynch are a dying breed, enjoy them while you still can.

That's because the average american's political spectrum is about as wide as a flea's anal opening. The vast majority are propagandized to the point that they only see in those very narrow definitions of "lib" or "con".
It's just easier for all of those narrow minded people to label the Chomsky's of the world as "liberal" when the reality is they are not even close.

They preach tolerance, so long as it agrees with their opinion. George sneaks a couple of these in here. Oh well his playing is still great. It has improved over the years as well.

George could really benefit from some guitar theory. I can tell he's so limited and held back from the lack of it. He is a One trick pony.

I was thinking the same so many people here singing his praises as if is the messiah. Don’t get me wrong he’s an awesome player. But...if I played over any of these backing tracks I’d sound about the same. There are many players out there that are on par or better than GL. Still a badass though. I don’t have any notoriety and he does so that says a lot.

@@notacommie5415 George has the respect of so many pro's & considered 1 of the 3 most iconic guitarists of the 80's rock genre fir good reason. You agree with a 1 trick pony comment saying you'd sound just the same over these backing tracks I doubt, but if you've really got into his Dokken riffs & solos especially on the whole Tooth & Nail CD then still don't get it while holding on to a 1 trip pony stance, than you don't know guitar as covering of other's original creation isn't the craft. Creati g the original is and George had his own distinct tone and stylistic use of techniques of vibrato & slide no other used before or since like him. But his work throughtout the 80's is some if the most innovative, inspiring & passionate guitar work from all the players in that genre even if many emulated the style after. Now at a workshop 25 years after his prime in an age where technology can make any tone for the most simp if players when George came from an age where experimentation with equipment was how you foind your unique tone.

Glad I can separate his misinformation from CNN, pmsnbc as an sjw from being the greatest guitarist ever. And that was 8 years ago so I wonder if he's gotten even more ignorant in politics or woke up from being hoodwinked by emotions. Love ya Georgie!
