      Heya, about to check that out. :)
      Love the videos.
      I never heard this talked about, so I figured I'd mention it.
      On pc I have found that the rug glitch on a generator has a range limit. The true wire glitch doesn't however.
      So if I attach generator to a connector and keep it within about 30ft or so it will stay connected. But if I love it out of it the wire disappears.
      Great videos!

    • @michaelgoff9527
      @michaelgoff9527 3 года назад

      why do you attach wires to the conduits? they have a range they transfer power

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  3 года назад +4

      @@michaelgoff9527 The conduits do radiate power in a 2x2 grid. But with wires, they also carry power to other conduits further away that can radiate power. That way you don't have to keep building more and more generators. And also some items require a direct connection to a wire. Hope that helps.

    You should never teach storing a generator in a room, house, or closet. Game or no game some stupid person will do it in real life. I have wired all my settlements and the generators are all outside the homes. You see the fumes, that will kill you and Bethesda should make a point of this and have health points drop if you or any game characters get near fumes or if fumes collect in a closed in box. I prefer to place them outside, and conduit on the outside wall. The power will radiate half the downstairs rooms. Idid try the "Sign-trick" Thanks. Otherwise a great video series lot's of tips!

  • @JapicoDeath
    @JapicoDeath 7 лет назад +3

    It has been my experience with the last glitch that you don't officially need to be pointing at the conduit, only making sure that it is behind the wire you are highlighting. I spent lots of time trying to get as close as I could, only to later realize that placement was the key.
    Keep up the lessons, they should help our building community greatly. I find that if you can firmly embrace no mod building, then modded building is a breeze. Only area of school I'm missing is the double black for manufacturing. That stuff still gives me fits. :)

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  7 лет назад +2

      You're absolutely right about the placement factor. I just figured I'd give the surefire method in the video to avoid any "it doesn't work" comments, because looking at the conduit with the reticle works 100% of the time. Know what I mean? But I'll include your point in the upcoming viewer suggested tips video. :) Also, I can totally relate about the manufacturing. That and the logic gates give us all headaches, so those lessons will definitely be included near the end of the mini-series.

I tried to clean it up using the conduit pipes on top of buildings and such to try and hide it, but i ran into issues when things required a wire. Thanks for the help. Keep it up!

    I would add a comment and ask anyone who loves pauls videos and can offer some help. I have trouble using the PC to place items and manipulate them when in build mode and still have not gotten the place anywhere mod to work which really sucks I spent 4 hours trying to do basic placement and still failed to achieve the results I had tried to get. if you can please help on manipulating items. I am using a few mods like thematic and practical, OC decorator, and a few others I can not use a ton of them because my slow computer and Windows 10 just are a frustration in games not working. yet alone the basic windows 10 interfaces and apps. thank you all for helping me and supporting paul. by the way i have made a ton of batch files to add items to the game in console and would be happy to share bat files to add ammo and some items that are either in limited supply or you just need a certain item in a tight spot and can't remember where to go in the common wealth to collect the items.

    in some cases you won't need wire to bridge power you can just put a conduit near the generator and it will utilize the radiated power from the generator ex. red rocket truck stop i have a generator on the top that radiates power to my lower floor and all i need is a conduit placed under the generator and one directly under that in the garage I'd like to see what you can do with that trick... that is if you haven't already. I'm way behind on your vids but i like what i see so far keep up the good work

    I tried your true wire glitch for the super reactor at Sanctuary Hills and where you said to point the dot and highlight the wire and press 'attach wire', for me nothing happens - the wire doesn't flash, there is no sound effects - NOTHING!!! Yes I'm getting frustrated, hours spent and achieved nothing. I've given up on having cleaned up settlement with no wires showing. Its great that your other students can get it to work, but i'm doing your methods step-by-step and the results are falling flat. Now cue your followers to rain insults at me.

      One step may have confused you. You have to point the dot at the conduit not the wire, but have the wire be highlighted in the periphery. Hope that helps.

      Skooled Zone Unfortunately I don't have any of the DLC, so no pillars=no pillar glitch. But, I did discover that the spiked poles can be used for similar effect. They seem to be limited to outdoors, or at least an area without a roof. I use them to even out fences, or to sink buildings that are on uneven ground.

    After playing “No Man’s Sky” for a few years now and finally going back to Fallout4 following the tv series I realise just how bad Bethesda really are compared to Hello Games.
    For such a small development team HG blows Bethesda out of the water with their “in game” build mechanics plus the number of constant and free updates every few months to bring NMS up to and now far exceeding expectations.
    Bethesda on the other hand seem to have never listened to ANY of the criticisms regarding probably the most frustrating aspect in the game, despite it being a major component. They’d much rather fleece their customers and cash in with additional DLC’s for basic stuff, much of which should have been freely included in the vanilla game.
    Thankfully there are people like you Paul who actually make this aspect of the game somewhat playable though there’s still plenty of room for improvement by the developers.
    I, like many others I’m sure, thank you for this series of tutorials.👍

    I just started Fallout 4 about 6 days ago and it might be the best game ive ever played. After 410 hours into Starfield i decided to try FO4 cause i never played a Fallout game and ive been missing out big time. The funny thing is i have owned FO4 and all of its DLC since it came out years ago. I cant get this rug glitch to work. Did they fix it? Im on series X so im not sure if that matters? The settlement glitch works ,which has to be one of the best exploits ever and makes building much better cause we dont have a limit to building. Im a 43 year old gamer and FO4 is just a masterpiece so far. From building settlements which i love to crafting cool stuff and an actual breathing living video game world with tins of encounters and characters. Im 50 hours into the game and havent even met up with Valentine yet and have only done 2 main missions. FO4 may go down as my favorite game ever.

  • @zaggrukk8644

    Nice. Another wall rug that you might not think of using, is an actual wall! A vault wall to be exact. When you attach the vault wall conduit to a vault wall, you turn the wall into your "sign". I find it works best with the vault wall/floor combo piece since they snap better. This also works with the warehouse garage door, if you want a switch or whatnot on the inside. Any wall that allows you to move it with the wall conduits attached should work as well.
    Example: Place a vault floor piece, and snap a wall/floor piece to it. Place a vault wall conduit on the wall section. Behind the wall (the backside), place a pylon. You can't wire straight through the wall as normal (yet). Select the wall/floor piece and rotate it so that the vault wall conduit it facing the pylon without any collisions. Connect the pylon to the conduit as normal. Then, just select the wall/floor combo piece and snap it back to where you want it. The wire will now pass through the wall.

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  7 лет назад +1

      Definitely Court! In fact, I used the vault conduit in several places around Vault 42. The only problem with using the vault walls as conduits is that if there is any break in the pattern, the connection breaks too. I wanted to be able to use other kinds of floor and wall textures here and there, so I ended up having to hide pipe conduits around the back of the walls anyway. But as far as using any old walls as the "sign" with the sign glitch wiring, that's definitely a tool for the toolbox! 👍

    • @zaggrukk8644
      @zaggrukk8644 7 лет назад

      I hear ya. I thought I'd throw that in here anyways. I mainly use it for purely vault builds. It comes in handy with knowing that the residential and maintenance (red and blue) rooms/tunnel hallways can have the vault conduits mounted to the outside flat surface rather than the interior (just to hide the wires and conduits). I can't take credit for the vault wall conduit setup, as I forgot that I had watched a video on it a few months before I "stumbled" upon it accidentially during one of my builds.
      Also worth mentioning is how great the concrete build set is. Another well known FO4 no-mod user showed this when the concrete first came out. Concrete walls (and most foundations that can sink into the ground), can be used to cover up various items. For instance, if I place a long conduit (the pipe looking one) on a floor so that it overhangs the floor, I can then place a concrete wall directly over it. It snaps to the floor piece as usual and the conduit looks like it just passes through the wall. Most walls would detect teh collision and not snap to the floor. But, the walls/foundations that can clip into the ground ignore most player placed objects, to a degree. Due to other collision variables, this doesn't always work how you want it to. This is especially handy when you don't want to rug glitch or group select items that are in cramped quarters. Another use for this is to place a generator, and then place a foundation directly on top of it. Hiding it similar to rug glitching it into a wall.
      As another side note. I'm trying to recreate a security door using the conveyor belt switches. I can't seem to find the vid for it. When done successfully, it looks awesome. It's just very time consuming and takes a lot of patience to line everything up just right. It basically has conveyor switches stacked on top of each other with a delay switch in between each switch connection. You end up with a V shaped barred door that opens either from the top or the bottom, depending on how you wired it. Looks kind of like a zipper when opening/closing. It requires a lot of space to setup, stacking floors on top of each other and lots of rugs! The person who came up with this could have benefited greatly from knowing that you can "bury" things underground.

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  7 лет назад

      Yeah, the concrete is super forgiving. Not just the concrete but a lot of foundations are like that. In my Vault 42 build, I buried the conduits for the entire outside patio in the floor underneath by just placing barn foundations over them. They go all the way from the missile turret to the spotlight and then back out again: ruclips.net/video/P6n1-POCUrM/видео.htmlm36s
      I was also able to bury the entire junk car that I couldn't scrap below the barn foundations by just snapping them together over it. Pretty cool. Also, I think the RUclipsr you're talking about that did the v-shaped bar door was Jug. I don't like to advertise a lot of other RUclipsrs, but he's the man. As you said, that trick is very time consuming and takes a lot of patience. Probably more patience than I even have.

    • @zaggrukk8644
      @zaggrukk8644 7 лет назад

      As much as i would love to credit that "security door" build to Jug, it wasn't him. It was someone else that had vids at the same time, like noreswapwns and eso, but, not as "famous". You might have seen the vids. I only mentioned it because you might have seen it and know what I'm talking about. I was hoping you might jog my memory for that. If you come across it, let me know.
      And as far as moving those inanimate objects, didn't they remove that function? I know that the beds at certain settlements can't be moved any longer. I hated that patch. I know they removed the ability to "remove" beds from settlements. I just wasn't aware how bad they nerfed that "glitch".

    Just FYI I don't know if you actually know this or just ignored it, but for generators placed in walls or underground, even if they are destroyed, you don't need to do anything to them. I place all my generators inside walls to save space and whenever there's an attack I usually notice the power supply dip by 1-2 generators, but I have like 15 all hidden and I don't know which one is broken lol. I'm too lazy to pull them all out and check, so I just leave it, and when I go back to that settlement I have full power. There's a formula I can't remember but the settlers will repair idk 1-5 broken things per in game day(reliant on how many settlers the place has) so 1 generator will be fixed anyways.
    Also, for conduits I hide those in walls by attaching them to the wooden floor concrete block, it will slide through the wall making a small tip or none of the conduit visible at all, and you can scrap or store the block from the other side of the wall, so you can wire your house, place inside the wall, then move the generator into a wall too, and you have all the power you want with nothing ever showing :)

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  7 лет назад

      Hmm. Interesting. I didn't know settlers will repair generators and stuff on their own. Good to know.
