I love how Heavy shows pain when he broke a piece off his rib cage, meaning heavy is doing the surgery with no anesthesia and is still just letting Medic operate on him..
I like to imagine that his ribs began to grow back faster then they should have (are ribs even supposed to grow back?) and when he was ubercharged they began to visibly grow
3:15 I just realized something beautiful. When medic übercharges heavy in this scene heavy starts to glow all red and such, well because he‘s invincible. But the medic, despite there being a visual indicator in game, is just missing it. At first I thought well he just didn’t perform the surgery on himself jet, but I just realized something. The reason we don‘t se medic turn invincible in the trailer is because HE ALREADY THINKS OF HIMSELF AS INVINCIBLE. That‘s also why we see him just standing there in the centre of the battlefield without getting shot at. When heavy screams “I AM BULLET PROOF“ medic already was the entire time
I can think of two other reasons why he didn't become invincible First, he didn't perform the surgery on himself because it would be impossible to perform surgery on yourself. and two, he explicitly says he didn't know it would work, and he claims most hearts can't handle this "surgery", so he wouldn't be foolish enough to try something on himself that has little chance of working.
@@zerokoll20 technically he can but he chooses not to I like to think he probably had to painstakingly add a Demoman caveat to the medigun so it wouldn't automatically restore his eyeball

Watching all the ads in a row is crazy. Like, that one line in Meet the Spy ("and now he's here to f*ck US") is the best line in the series up to that point, but then Meet the Medic dishes out lines that funny left and right like they grow on trees.
i like how the story the Medic tells in the beginning implies that he stole a still living person's entire skeleton without killing them and disappeared
I love how its implied the medic doesn't know what a successful uber'd heart looks like. He just sees something happen and is like "oh that looks like it's right"
The fact that he has his gloves off during surgery and on during combat is straight up hilarious Edit: Editing a comment because it got popular is stupid.
I like the implication that the either the Spy head kept his lit cigarette all throughout being beheaded and stuffed in the freezer, or that Medic was kind enough to give him a cig as a treat.
Even after 13 years, I still notice more and more small details, like how the kickback from Heavy's new heart actually moves his arm up and down. This really stands the test of time.
I think that the "Meet Them" series might have been one of the most effective ad campaigns ever devised. I mean, here we are, over a decade later still talking about the game and just watching these ADS for fun! I love you Valve.
Indeed. I don't even play TF2, (played it some on the Orange Box back in the day though), but I still come back and watch these every five years or so.
Maybe some of you noticed this, Medic walked slowly following his patient's pace and because the patient was Heavy his speed slowed down. I love this like Scout loves his ball
The medigun must have connect the hearts output/input tubes to the rest of the body, explains how everything was able to be reinstated like it wasn't even broken into to
It is because he said somebody's skeleton was missing and the doctor was never heard from again. Than he literally says that's how he lost his medical license, so HE was the doctor
Fellow Medic mains, our job may not be the best at times. But at the end of the day we can take solace in knowing our character got the best "Meet the" video.
The baboon heart is actually based on a real-life transplant too! And the inter-character aspects are enhanced because Heavy said he had yet to meet some that could outsmart bullet, and then the Doctor outsmarted it. So many Easter eggs.
1:40 Something I like about this scene is Medic's expressions. After realizing that he broke Heavy's rib, he seems guilty/sorry cuz you know, he didn't mean it. But he quickly calm back down to reassure Heavy. You can even hear him 'tsking' to show that it's nothing to worry about.
There’s a thing called *CRITICAL HEALS*, where if the pat- i mean experiment isn’t damaged for a certain amount of time, they get healed quicker than the flash. and the scout hadn’t been damaged in like 2 mins, so basically, he got healed sooper fast
I love how the Spy head joke actually plays off of the outtake from this that they posted, where he's a lot more frantic and clearly scared because he's now a living head. Here he's resigned to his fate and even a little sarcastic about it, as if he'd screamed "KILL ME!" at the medic plenty already and knew the answer he was going to get. Watching these videos always makes me wish Valve did more.
Yeah everybody should see the outtake. It explains how a decapitated Blu spy's blood, some medkit contents, jarate, and scrumpy from the demo's bottle combine to make the decapitated spy's head invincible, leading him to discover the ubercharge.
In the comics when mercenaries lost all their blood, medic used his own underwear to take the blood from the ground (along with all the dirt and leaves) to squeeze it straight into their bodies.
Heavy still being alive and conscious with his heart out actually makes sense, as it does not keep you alive, it only pumpd blood that keeps you alive, so the blood still flowed by the time medic was ubercharging his heart.
Rewatching this video more than 10 years later, and only now spotting the way the other two doves nervously shuffle away from Archimedes at 1:22 as they anticipate the heart exploding again.
I like to imagine he was waiting for the Medic to laugh because he didn't want to upset him by not laughing. God knows what would've happened if Heavy didn't laugh..
The heavy fires his gun for about 26 seconds. That’s over $800,000. Edit: with some quick calculator skilz i have come to the conclusion that a single bullet from heavy’s gun is 100$
The climax of this is absolutely perfect in every way. The music buildup Medic's deranged laughter and uncertainty of his own creation Heavy's scream as he is ubercharged The others shocked faces The enemy dropping like flies It's perfect.
And the epic scene of Medic standing triumphantly over a pile of BLU soldier corpses as his greatest creation continues to dominate and destroy as the cherry on top is just *chef’s kiss*
The bit that I feel always gets overlooked is Medic's evil smile at around 3:15 as Heavy gets ubered, like he's thinking "the other team is so screwed now." It always reminds me of Dr. Frankenstein as his monster comes to life which is really fitting for a mad doctor like the Medic.
I just love how totally undaunted the medic is. Heavy guy's heart explodes? No problem, just grab a new one. Bird in heavy guy's chest? Just shoo him away. Head in fridge is begging for death? That sounds like a problem for tomorrow medic. Super ape heart has an unnatural reaction to the health beam? That looks good. No idea if this will work? Modern medicine didn't get anywhere without some unethical experimentation and there's no better time than now to find out.
Fun fact: the medigun used in this video is the Quick Fix, which is only capable of faster healing. It broke after the first Ubercharge test but was repurposed to work as it does in-game whilst the default medigun was made as its replacement.
Seeing how fast it healed Demo & Scout, and after creating the Medigun, Medic must’ve gone back & improved on the Quick Fix 👏 minus the Uber otherwise it’d break again
1:02 God how the hell have I never noticed that when medic opens the fridge, smoke pours out because the decapitated spy head in there has a lit cigarette thats been going for who knows how long. What a fucking detail.
“Don’t worry, ribs grow back!” “No they don’t.” The Medic says as he manages to completely grow skin and organs worth thousands and thousands of healing using only a Blender taped to a Vacuum.
A doctor who misplaces people’s skeletons, lost his medical license, made Heavy’s heart explode, breaks Heavy’s ribs and tells him that rips grow back and also does an operation without gloves... *sounds like the perfect doctor*

Fellow Medic mains, our job may not be the best at times. But at the end of the day we can take solace in knowing our character got the best "Meet the" video.

So many Easter eggs.
the heart went down when he dropped the baboon heart in it too
1:40 Something I like about this scene is Medic's expressions.
After realizing that he broke Heavy's rib, he seems guilty/sorry cuz you know, he didn't mean it. But he quickly calm back down to reassure Heavy. You can even hear him 'tsking' to show that it's nothing to worry about.
And you can actually see that rib **not** growing back when Medic heals up Heavy's chest
I actually never noticed that before. Made me laugh my ass off. He’s just like “Oh shit… oh well.”
The medigun healed scout’s tooth so hopefully the rib fixed itself eventually
i literally never noticed medic's brief worried expression. that was helluva fucking detail

So for those who didn't hear, Medic lost his medical license _By stealing a person's skeleton without killing them._

Wait, doctors aren't supposed to do that?
i love how medic doesnt even find the correct blood type heart just grabs one from the fridge and shoves it in
medic be like: *fuck heavy's old heart, ima grab a new one and stab it*
In the comics when mercenaries lost all their blood, medic used his own underwear to take the blood from the ground (along with all the dirt and leaves) to squeeze it straight into their bodies.
He doesn't know ribs grow back either...
Is that not what you're meant to do? That must be why all my patients die for some reason.
He also practically revives demoman put cant fix his eye too
Heavy still being alive and conscious with his heart out actually makes sense, as it does not keep you alive, it only pumpd blood that keeps you alive, so the blood still flowed by the time medic was ubercharging his heart.

It broke after the first Ubercharge test but was repurposed to work as it does in-game whilst the default medigun was made as its replacement.
