I am absolutely loving this pattern. Its beautiful and easy! I have one month to make a shawl from my older sister, whom I rarely see. Hopefully i can finish this in time and i hope this one hobbii cake is enough. Thank you for the tutorial.
Hi, thank you for trying out this pattern. Sometimes, when I’m not sure if my yarn cake could make a big enough shawl, I use a bigger hook, though it would result into a more open or lacy appearance. Thank you again and I hope everything turns out great. Happy crocheting!
I have fingering weight merino wool in my stash that I have been looking for a pattern for. In the last three days, I have tried four patterns. Then I found yours😊 This pattern is perfect, and your tutorial is very clear and easy to follow. Thank you❤
Kat, just wanted to thank you again for sharing this amazing pattern and tutorial. I am enjoying making this, so very much! It is turning out so pretty! ❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been searching for a pattern that was beautiful and easy to understand, and you did a fantastic job! Thank you for taking your time and explaining everything so clearly- you were very easy to understand. 👏🏼
This shawl is absolutely stunning!!! This yarn is absolutely gorgeous!!! Thank you so much for explaining each step so thoroughly as I am a beginner and barely able to do a simple knot yet lol.
I love this pattern! You are such a thorough instructor. I have two on the hook. One with dk and one with 4 weight yarn. They are both so beautiful! The dk is lion brand mandala, and more like a 2 weight. The 4 weight is ❤ Super Saver ombre Anemone. I am over 3/4 finished, with one skein, and started this morning. Not sure if I will need a second skein, yet. It is gorgeous!!! am so grateful for you sharing this beautiful shawl pattern with us. ❤ No doubts, I will be making more than just two. 💕
Wow, thank you so much for the feedback. I’m glad that you enjoyed making this design. I hope to be able to make more tutorials in the future. Happy crocheting!
this is soooo beautiful!!! and i just wanna hug you for making the repeating row so easy! i love how clear your instructions are and I can see myself using this pattern as a stashbuster in the future, thanks again for sharing your work💕
I’m glad you find this tutorial useful. Hopefully, I’d be able to upload more tutorials that are beginner friendly. Thank you so much for trying out this design, much appreciated! ❤️
Wow, this is gorgeous and just the crescent shawl pattern I’ve been watching for. The tutorial is excellent and so easy to understand. I have several fingerling weight yarn cakes that are waiting for just the right pattern, and now I can’t wait to get started. I’m definitely subscribing to your channel!
Thank you so much! This is from a local shop here in the Philippines, not sure if they ship overseas but there are similar yarns that you might want to check out. You may Google Hobbii, Kokonki, or YarnArt, they have their own websites and I think some are also available on Etsy or Amazon. I hope you get to try this design soon. Happy crocheting!
@@KatsHooksBrushes I am working on this shawl right now lol. I already contacted the yarn company and they only sell in the Philippines. Yes, I am going to order some similar yarn from another company, probably Hobbii or Stenli. I just really loved the colorway that you used for this shawl. It's absolutely gorgeous. Mine is working up very quickly. Ty, again so much for sharing this pattern. I make them for the local cancer hospital. I am always looking for new patterns to try. It's always so cold in the hospital. I am also going to try making the granny square dress that you have on your channel. You are very talented. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯
I really have enjoyed this pattern. It is the first shawl that remains in place on my shoulders. Would you consider creating a new set of pretty stitches to take the place of the DC increase sections?
That’s a good idea. I’ll try to come up with something that could still maintain the number of stitches for each row. Thank you so much for this. I hope I’d be able to make another video soon. 😊🥰
I’ve only tried fingering weight yarn like this one in the tutorial. Around 270 grams of fingering weight yarn or 1000-1300 yards is what I have used in most of the shawls I’ve made with this design. Thank you so much!
Thankyou for this gorgeous crescent shawl I have made with this shawl Turkish rose garden with cotton and bamboo yarn .please suggest me how can i sell my crochet stuff.most time i live in Germany
Hi. Thank you for trying out this design. Wow, that sounds lovely, Turkish yarns are amazing. Most people sell on Etsy if they’re selling handmade items although I haven’t tried it yet. I post my crochet works on my Facebook page and Instagram. You may create a separate Facebook page or Instagram account just for your crochet works or you may just try to sell on Facebook marketplace, I also sell some of my items there. Good luck!

Gorgeous shawl. It would have been helpful to know the quantity of yarn needed before beginning. I have only 1 cake of yarn available that I would like to use; but I do not know if it will be enough to finish the shawl.
I usually say that when I show the materials needed in the beginning. I say what kind of yarn and the weight of the yarn cake I’m using. It is mentioned at 1:07 time mark of the video. Anyway, if you have at least 250 grams of fingering weight yarn, you would be able to make a full size shawl. If you have only 200grams, it will be a smaller shawl nd I suggest you use bigger hook size so the stitches will be a littler more loose and the shawl will be bigger. This is a repetitive pattern and you can just stop when you think you only have enough yarn left for the border but based on my previous works with this pattern, 10% of the weight of the yarn cake/skein is enough for the border, so for a 250-gram cake, at least 25gram should be reserved for the border. So it will be up to you or your yarn how big your shawl is going to be. Sometimes when I have big yarn cakes, I don’t even finish them because the shawl will be super big if I do.
This is so beautiful. Ive been wanting to make a shawl but I dont like the triangle ones. I dont know anything about fingerling yarn, but would lion brand mandala 3 weight work? Thank you
I think the Mandala yarn would work but it’s like two levels thicker than fingering weight yarn so shawl would be thicker and less flowy, you might need to watch your tension, just don’t crochet too tight or the shawl would be a little stiff. I crochet a little tightly so I sometimes use a bigger hook than the recommended size just so the stitches are more loose and relaxed for a more flowy and lacy outcome. So maybe just try a few rows and see if it’s going fine, if it gets stiff or super wrinkly, adjust the tension or change hooks, but if nothing is working maybe try other yarns in your stash just to see if the Mandala yarn isn’t really the yarn for this project. What I’m sure about this is that one Mandala cake won’t be enough to make a full shawl, maybe a shawlette, 2 cakes at least I think. Sorry I couldn’t help as much as I haven’t tried making one using weight 3 yarn, the only yarn that’s thicker than fingering weight that I’ve tried so far is weight 2 sport weight yarn. I hope you don’t get discouraged to try this design because of my not so reassuring response and still try. Happy crocheting!
Thank you so much for the info and your thoughts. I think the cake won't work like the fingerling. We'll, that just gives me another excuse to buy more yarn. Lol. I will definitely make this when I get the correct yarn. Thanks again.
This is 8ply fine cotton, fingering weight, you may base them on their weight category to find something similar rather than the ply number. For this shawl I suggest yarns that are under category #1 superfine weight yarns. I didn’t color control as this is a gradient yarn so even if it color changes in the middle of the row, it’s not that abrupt so the change is not obvious. The color transition is subtle. I hope you find the yarn you want and have fun trying this design. Thank you so much!
I know that yarns don’t always have the correct yardage as the label indicates. I was only able to get 5 rows of the V stitch. I didn’t get to put in the picots at all.
@@KatsHooksBrushes I'm sorry, I was not referring to your design. The video change just as I was submitting my comment. But now that I'm here I have the pleasure of checking out yet another beautiful shawl.
I’ve been searching for it the whole day, hoping I could find it before I reply to you but I just couldn’t find it, my kids’ nanny said she already told me a while back that my notebook got ruined when my kid was playing with watercolor, I just forgot about it. So sorry about that, but this is actually simple since you’re not a beginner, you may skip and just watch a few rows and you’ll surely don’t need to watch the rest since it’s just a repetitive pattern, you may go back to watching when it’s time for the border. There are time stamps available in the description box. Hope you can give this tutorial a chance. Thank you for your interest in this design.
Not sure about the exact measurements of this one but my shawls go for 70-80 inches for the wingspan and 32-40 inches for the spine/neck to bottom. It can cover my whole back so this one may be close to 80 inches x 40 inches.
