When Brad passed away it was so sudden and unexpected...one day my friends and I were buying Sublime tickets then the next the concert was canceled because of Brad's passing 😔 all the great musicians are almost all gone but I give every single one credit for making it.
My dad bought me the CD (1996), I was prolly 11 years old. No idea who they were at the time but I still have the CD to this day and at points in my life it was my favorite album.
That exact same thing happened to me and my friends with Mac Miller. We all saw him before then decided to buy tickets for the Swimming Tour, then he died
Unexpected??? Yeah right, everyone knew Bradley was going to OD!! Even his family and band mates!! Get a clue dumbass 😂
That voicemail brings back sad memories of a childhood friend. He started on drugs in middle school and never got out of that cycle except for a few jail stints and rehab failures. I quit hanging with him in high school bc he was getting into a very bad scene. Burglarizing homes and God only knows what else to feed his habit. Anyways he used to leave long ass voicemails like that for me until long after we quit hanging. I think in his stupor sometimes he didn't even realize we hadn't really been friends like that in a very long time. He passed away at 24 from combined drug overdose. I cried. Don't do drugs yall. RIP Jeremy. RIP Bradley.
HI sexy voice 🤮
Rip Jeremy
His son is really good.
Hes awful
I’m so glad I got to experience all this great music in real time. The 90s was such a great time of change and music👍
Clean off heroin since 12 - 30 - 21 growing up all my Idols died from the disease of addiction the same fate has occured for most of my friends. Growing up the stereo always was on, grateful to have that type of environment durring my developmental stage.
You literally just read the wikipedia page, slapped a few other videos in between the sections, and sprinkled in some synthwave music because that totally matches the vibe and aesthetic of this band. This is the laziest "documentary" I've ever wasted time on.
Never knew of this band until now, thanks for another great doc
This blows my mind.
Excellent script and great collection of footage collated and edited together well, seeing that final interview was really sad but I'm glad you included it, RIP to one of the greatest bands to ever exist
I remember buying their cd and having no idea the singer had already died. It's amazing to me that his son sounds almost just like him. Bradley would be so proud
Bradley Nowell last name pronounced like this : NOWELL. ( NO ~WULL )
Stoked. I always loved your docs, almost as much as my love for sublime. I've got the sublime sun 10x10" on my ribs.
Awesome video as always! 💯🤘✌️🫶
Jim Croce's last name is pronounced "Crow-Chi". Great documentary! I remember those Sublime days, being in my early twenties. Good times...
Brad was one of the coolest dudes ever… all three of them were. So chill and seemingly care free. His voice, charisma, and guitar playing and lyrics were unbelievable… and Eric and Bud are the shit. Sublime reminds me of being a teenager, RIP Brad.
Very unfortunate.
Thank you for creating and sharing.
As a man that dabble in veining drugs, this hurts
It’s stupid how people associate heroin and overdose death to rock stars and wonder why it’s so common… heroin and overdose is as common with any profession… your account, plumber, bartender, gardener etc… That’s how prevalent users are at hiding addictions.
I fell in love with Sublime the summer I met my husband. I had no clue Bradley was already gone. 12 years later, my Eli (also a musician) died of a drug OD.
We've lost so many great, talented artists to drugs. 💔
Sublime has opened me up to all kinds of killer music thru sampleing ,covers, and refrences!
That is why they are my favorite band.
I was going to UCSB and was at the show they did at the fraternity FIJI Islander party on 5/17/1996. Had I known then how priceless this experience was then, then 1 show later he died..incredibly tragic.
Bro I can’t listen to you mumble through this whole thing .,
No doubt. Good content. Bad frog voiceover. This is a strong case for those AI voiceovers.
Some videos it works, like the Alice In Chains doc but yeah he prolly needs a little more enthusiasm for a video like Sublime.
I don't think he's mumbling
Don't watch don't listen egoistic little bitch
I dont think Gwen Stefani has aged since 1996. So beautiful.
Can't believe it's been 30 years since Bradley died.
🤢🤮
I remember going to early sublime concerts. Brad was a frigging genius. And Jacob has always sounded like his dad. Even when with LAW the first time I heard his voice I could have sworn it was Brad's voice coming through. I'm glad he's trying this for his dad, because they both have such haunting voices it gives me chills. Rock on forever Sublime.
I'll never forget when I'd heard he'd died. I was heartbroken. For his wife, for his son, for his band and loved one's and selfishly for myself there was something about them that I connected with on a very deep level. He'll never know what he got me through. But I want to say thank you all the same. Much love all.
And still love Long Beach Dub Allstars as well.
Really wish the music was off for the phone call
Very special guy, and band.
Sublime could jam, almost like they had their own musical language that they could speak off the cuff. Some of the best work from this band is in the form of demos and studio recordings, and from the album Everything Under the Sun. Thanks for being here for a while Brad.
robbin the hood is a masterpiece of raw musical talent. a 4 track!
Awesome video! Thanks for making it. Love sublime so much. RIP Brad!!
34 years old, and 8 months clean from opes/h/fnt. Bradley prob wouldn't have lived as long as he did if he was fkn with the sht out there now. thankfully, we got some of the greatest music ever created before he "lost the war". RIP to a 👑

Can’t wait for this, love your docs man!!
"I don't want no more friends. Lou Dog is my only friend." 😁❤️🔥🎵🕺🙏🏼 RIP BRAD NOWELL
Holy vocal fry !!!
Lol
Sublime is probably the only band I've never gotten sick of listening to and never will NEVER GETS OLD TRUE LEGENDS!!!! NOBODY WILL EVER TOUCH BRADLEY HE'S A TRUE MUSIC GOD RIGHT UP THERE WITH Bob Marley for me anyway.
To people sitting on how to pronounce Sublime, while technically they're right (how the word itself is properly pronounced) I suppose there's also an argument to be made for the fact that it was Brad's band and he, himself, says the word wrong (16:19) which I guess you could say is the proper way to pronounce it, pertaining to the band. Personally, I've always said it the other way. Not that anyone gives a shit. Just sounds funny hearing the emphasis on SUB.
Yuck. That Anne Frank song was gross.
That was a cover of a song called Dachau cabana
Bradley was so talented. Thanks for the video!
Pronounced "Nole" not "no ell". Hard to watch this hearing his name mispronounced a hundred times.
Knoll**
So don't watch then, what's the problem
@@АртёмСиницкий-п3щ the problem is the guy doing a video doc about a beloved singer/songwriter is pronouncing his name wrong
@@hris5045 take it easy man, or u can go ahead and do yours instead, with the name pronounced correctly
@@АртёмСиницкий-п3щ what gave you the impression that i wasn’t taking it easy? you asked a question and i answered it. the projection is crazy, by all means if you enjoy it go ahead but if he can’t even get the name right it’s like cmon 😂
Bionic Records?! Holy shit! That used to be a small local record shop where I grew up in Huntington Beach! I highly doubt they're still around though.
The narrator needs more enthusiasm in their voice 😴
19:22 was actually footage from the Ventura theater show
This narrator fell asleep w his mouth wide open in front of a space heater cranked to 11 and slept for 14 hours, woke up and hoarsed unenthusiasticly through this.
Was the song at 25:09 ever released? It sounds so familiar. Maybe a portion was used in a released song? Can someone help me out here
Hey! So if you listen to Smoke Two Joints, Brad sings “rock me tonight for old times sake” that’s where I remember this sample
@danielasantiago3343 thank you! Do you happen to know if "if you ever seen me rockin', think I was a superstar" was ever used in a song? Can't find it when googling lyrics.
I couldn’t find anything either rip
Who was brad leaving that voicemail to? I think something shady happened. Brad maybe sacrificed. Bud gives bad vibes. Marshall Goodman a Freemason.
Put some respeck' in your voice when you speak on Sublime!
Dude sounds like he's in between naps.
Sublime was one of the best cover bands ever!
This is interesting and there is stuff in here I did not know. But I had always heard he had been clean up until he went to Mexico. I heard he bought a bunch of vicoden from a mexican pharmacy and brought it back. Then began using heroin again within a couple of weeks.
Disagree with your closing statement. Bradley's talent outshines his burnout.
Dude I know people have corrected you on the pronunciation of Jim Croce's name but that's not really the point. You are a presenter of documentary-style information. One would think you would do research on your subject, sources, and influences. It's just sloppy work. If a person is doing an information piece do the simple things and pronounce the names correctly Its lazy,
I wanted to watch this. But the guy's voice is trying to hard to be deep and cool. Failing but trying.
that’s my natural voice so i’ll take it as a compliment bud.
Lmao cut that ending out real quick 😭😭🤣🤣
This was an okay watch… but please do more research. He got Lou Dog from trading a skateboard to one of his friends, also please don’t mumble when you talk.
It’s not “NO ELL” holy shit I can’t watch this
30:36 to 30:40. Freeze that last frame. Who's _that_ guy? Seems like truth might be stranger than fiction.
Thought lou dog was a rescue and i doubt brad had the cash to pay for him. They were preforming at back yard bbqs then.
New Zealand has the best pies
I would love to watch this but with the strange sound you have going on overpowers your voice and I can barely hear you.
It's not Sub lime it's pronounced like Sublyme
Spanish sub pls brothers ❤ love to heaven Bradley
Off ya go Lad....
Lightning in a bottle…..
Brilliant video ❤
Overlooked the dub allstars completely huh? Some great tunes there.
