I will NEVER FORGET THIS DAY lol this was the best most organized chaos I have ever experienced but only if every band that was suppose to participate came. Southern, Grambling, and North Carolina A&T were suppose to be there. It was a bad storm that weekend.
i remember this yr ASU and JSU was both going at it but i had to give it to ASU on this one i will say for JSU to be small that yr they had ALOT of sound
What makes this video good is that ASU doesn't react but JSU does. ASU literally waited for their turn. JSU was climbing all over each other to get to them to hold up their instruments. Regardless of who anyone thinks took an L, it is without question that at the time of occurrence JSU was feeling some kind of way. If they had have just sat still the video would leave less of an impression in favor of ASU.
I can remember battling JSU in the Gulf coast classic in 98 when Kelly Price sung friend of mine in their halftime show. Jsu was bringin it. I gotta admit that was my most memorable battle in the 5th quarter.
Well being from atlanta, and being somebody who has played in memorial stadium in jackson, bragg memorial in tallahassee, crampton bowl in mobile, aggie stadium in a&t, and legion field in birmingham. HERNDON stadium turns your sound up. Its like a natural amplifier that makes your bands sound 10 times bigger
Facts! Herndon is essentially a bowl, with only 2 escapes: up or out the only open end of the stadium... that sound bounces around like crazy in there.
Still watching this shit in 2020. Boy when ASU hit J State with that wall of sound with the trumpets screamin crazy in the midst of it that shit was vicious!!! 🎺 🔊😳 LOL
I been lookin at dis video since the day it was posted, I cant get enough. I love my school(JSU) but ASU did the damn thing wit dat Freaky Girl! The SWAC showed they ass, and thats how its suppose to be. NO COMPARISON!!!!
Whoa! Alabama State was so big back in 2008! They atleast two Jacksons put together! Either way, they both was on smash mode! But Jackson definitely felt some type of way when they played that “Freaky Girl” towards them.😳😨😱
@@TJCoolzD seems like band isnt as big as it used to be, and a lot of states are cutting fine arts from schools so kids dont get introduced to band in elementary or middle school anymore like we used to!
@@nigelholland1714 them and cookman are some of the only bands that have had constant numbers. SCSU was almost 300 in this video, and they probably have 40 people now. Texas Southern used to always have over 215 but id be surprised if they have more than 110 now. FAMU used to be damn near 400 strong their numbers are smaller as well.
People act like you're crazy when you say ASU was clean. They sounded pretty damn clean to me especially playing full out w/ those kind of numbers. Everybody ignore the fact that JSU trumpets was hanging over and sounded bad at the end of their notes. NOBODY has said a word about it. LMAO. They WANT everyone to believe it was Alabama State that was sloppy tho. Footage don't lie. I don't get y'all.
All I'm going to say about this is I am MMH and crabbed on B-tone in 07 and played from 07-09. This year we did not even touch 30+ btones. That same day we got back from playing FAMU and came straight to ATLANTA after we changed. From a massive game to this awsome performance, we did our best. There are only unison notes in the beginning but as the song goes on every section has their own distinct part... We are NOT FAMU or SU we are ASU... each band has their own sound..... S.S.D-B.B.G/H-n-H
Sad asu had only that one good song that whole day 😂 and JSU so little but their power matches asu that’s bad 😩 but I must say JSU got what they asked for 😂
True, in the beginning ASU and JSU had great trouble with that, but when they opened up it was totally different listen to when both bands open up to Fortissississississimo when they face the camera, they both sound more unison and you can here all the parts.
WHEN ASU TURNED AND PLAYED THAT FIRST NOTE, JSU HAD TO JUMP UP BECAUSE THEY REFLEXES INVOLUNTEERILY RESPONDED TO ASU'S POWER!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA EPIC ASU EPIC1!!!!!
I don't understand how tubas can be that close to one another, because when ASU blew on JSU..they got mad and I thought it was going to be a stand fight. That's what JSU get for being so close to ASU. lol
ASU showed why they have a good rep with most fans such as myself.Nothin against JSU,they show up as well. But there are times when ASU just stings harder than you ever thought they could.
You got to give ASU a slight edge for effect with this one. When JSU faced them, they were relatively cool about it and prepared themselves to play. When ASU returned the favor JSU completely lost their composure which made it "LOOK" like Bama got under their skin. What did they think would happen? JSU still sounds good none the less.
i havent heard TSU but stadium configuration and adrenaline factors more than most know.I love The Boom and proudly protest that you can hear this song being played half way to Ridgeland when they are in Jaxn--everybody has their opinion but its different when the show is at home.everybody got their picks and shows favoritism...but it all comes down to the crowd. When was the last time your school boycotted games cause the band didn't play That's love Like it or love it JSU ROCKS THE HOUSE!!!!!
Regardless of who got blew on, Im luvin this. JSU/ASU showin them other schools how intense the SWAC is EVERY SATURDAY of the season! They started showin out and turned a rather "friendly" exhibition into a warzone in a matter of minutes. lol GOTTA LUV DA SWAC BABY!!!! You take a break, you take an L...
I think both were solid. JSU has more volume then the numbers suggest... They mellos have been coming alive the last few years... Before they were like SCSU's mellos... JUST THERE... ASU... Exactly how big are they... I'm not the bigget fan of ASU but I love they freaky girl...
can u imagine if southern would have been able to show up!!! we would have never left the stadium! Hope they have it this year. That was way better than the honda could ever be.
Well i could understand that but there is a difference between the bands sizes, i just said that jsu was loud when they played under pressure is all, asu was very very loud but thats wht happenes when you have famu size numbers
wow i must giv it to bama i aint never seem them like this lol blowin that song out..... i wonder hom many band directors got request for transfer, lol
@jsugrad2010 True, it isn't a fifth quarter power tune. I've been to a JSU game I know when they play the tune and what it is for; but you tell me what is the musical execution of it. Heat! What are people commenting on in reference to the boom. They aren't saying man that was musical. Nor are they saying nice arrangement. They are talking about the intensity and power of certain notes in the tune. When I said power tune it is in reference to execution of the music. Power is part of it's effect.
Asu looking like famu in '08 but thr boom said anybody can get it ...... until they got it back....#classic #luvtheboom
JSU Alumni still have nightmares and post traumatic stress from this day. Anytime a Gucci Mane song gets played it brings back bad memories.
Not really lol. Bama just loud because they were big
Damariun Wilson they didn’t sound good at all. Loud doesn’t make you good. Couldn’t understand what they were playing.
ASU got they asses CRUSHED by a Real Band half their size with NO PRACTICE due to the Storm. They were Loud and Sloppy. End of Story.
Looking at these replies, a statement comes to mind. A hit Tiger will holler.
