This sounds like i needed to be there because there are things about both that i liked. I would love to hear Dawg Team playing the ASU tuba part. I also think JSU lower brass should’ve been featured more. And JSU trumpets could’ve benefited from some help from the mellos. Maybe i need to listen to both from the front but better arrangement goes to JSU. Better voicing goes to ASU. I liked them both, Issa tie!!!
I never would thought I saw a day where a band asked to be embarrassed. This comparison isn't even close. Jsu sent asu home on this one. This clearly separates jsu from asu. Yes asu had moments throughout its entire showing during halftime and 5th but that was it moments. Jsu just levels above without evening trying. Even the 50+ old alumni heard and acknowledged it. Not even sure why any band would step to jsu with this arrangement.

Jsu arranged it to be loud and ASU’s arrangement is loud too but they over there grooving! ASU’s rendition was immediately distinguishable - sounding exactly like what I hear on the radio. If JSU had went first, you wouldn’t even be able to tell what they were playing just from their intro.

Imma be honest, JSU had a phenomenal intro and overall piece sounds good but the rest of the arrangement wasn’t as impressive to me. ASU’s was more consistent and entertaining throughout the song.
There was nothing weak about ASU during this game nor their My Life arrangement. Jackson is so classless to chant while ASU played. Can’t let the opposing band think they are any good? It’s a very ghetto mentality. These bands took different approaches to the song. Simple.
I prefer ASU by a factor of 100. JSU wins the first 10 seconds AFTER THAT ASU all the way, JSU plays the song at a higher tone or whatever. I like ASU's b/c the bass be rocking. JSU's is all trumpets. And, yes I can hear that JSU's arrangement is more skilled but that don't mean it sounds better. I'm NOT a bandhead. You couldn't pay me to listen to JSU's version more than once but I could listen to ASU's all day.
