🙂 I REALLY like that Alcorn allows people to still go on the field and listen to the band's battle... It makes for a more fun and memorable experience... This was a good battle not bad at all... Jackson sounds extra great but Alcorn actually hit them with some very original sounding tunes 9:30 December 7th... The Jukebox VS The Boom... REMATCH... No excuses tolerated from either side... lol
Y'all folks that be complaining about JSU tubas need to stfu! You can hear them on every song they play. They sound good y'all want them to be overpowering to the point they drowning out other instruments. JSU sound balanced AF. Take y'all complaining azz on. While I agree with you to some degree. I’ve been yelling this about Southern for years…SU tuba section has consistently been solid, but some people still have something to say. And to be honest, Jackson people were some of the main ones…dawg team this and dawg team that. I’m just saying keep it consistent. Keep that same energy when it’s another band tubas that are complementing the band
@ SU tuba section improved onced they moved away from the fiberglass. They can be heard in every song as well. Folks be extra for.no reason. They hear other instruments and if a certain section is not overpowering the whole band. They think it's “weak” I usually just ignore the crazy comments. But today I'm tired of seeing the same folks talk about the tubes when there is not one time I haven't heard them play. They've been solid all year. Maybe not as loud as the previous versions. But still solid to be heard.
They cut them tuba numbers down and added trumpets and the balance is key.. jsu left the band world behind worrying about tubas.. JSU put tubas on the map they on to a better sound 😂

To be honest I am very impressed by by the GG’s stand and field performance. It was very classy. I found their technique and style very impressive. THEE I LOVE💙💙💙 ♾️
Louder doesn't necessarily mean better. Both bands sounded great. I honestly thought jsu was going to manhandle these boys but if I'm being honest I found alcorn more entertaining. So I'm going against the grain and saying sod won. I love how the band and auxillary worked as a unit. GG'S ate they ass alive. Yea ASU for me. This was a good battle, it took me by surprise. I heard allalcorn chords clearly and everything. They brought it this time.

@@BandHeadBoom jsu wasn't clean I heard wrong notes from the trumpets all night with nasty hang overs. Jsu the past few games have had a problem with that. They had the same issue at Alabama State. Yes alcorn was just as clean. I enjoyed them; I enjoyed jsu as well I'm unbiased. Asu gave it to them boys.

I have to say, Alcorn had the better book, JSU of course had a fuller and more balanced sound due to their size. I think i have to give the slight edge to Alcorn on this one. Their songs had more color and were more dynamic and exciting to me. Don't get me wrong. JSU is full, balanced and clean as hell. However, there's something that's missing from them for me. A lot of their songs just kind of reminds me of an A.I. generated songs. That's the best way i can describe some of them. Very clean but lack life, color and voicing. Perfect example, is that SWV I'm so into you. It's another song that just was played without the soul and groove of that song. It was too automated, and AI sounding. It lacks the spirit and groove. I've been saying this about some of JSU's songs this yr. It's like they try too hard to sound clean and balanced that they kind of suck some of the life and groove out of some of their songs. I know i keep talking about 2023 JSU; but 23 had the perfect blend of groove, balance and cleanliness. This yr, they seem to be so focused on being the cleanest sounding band that some of their songs just sound kind of A.I generated. imo

Couldn't agree more, 2024 JSU is very polished and outstanding trumpets but dry. 2023 JSU had everything and was way more funky
