The frustration has probably just started. I know a lot of people who have moved to the province and then ended up moving back to civilization for many reasons, healthcare, isolation, missing their friends, missing the conveniences of the big city. I speak OK Tagalog which helps me when I'm in the province but I have another home in civilization. I had friends move who then got flooded, land-slided out or just went stir-crazy, Crap internet, crap food, unreliable electricity, it wears on you in the end. I've heard stories of the whole family just hanging out at the house too, you order a pizza and the family turns up before the Pizza. I wish you the best all the same Brian. It takes a special breed of person to survive.

You hit the nail on the head I built a house in the province. But I enjoy it because I have a farm. You're right about many things going back to America because I got health problems. Yeah if you like food The province ain't the place to be. You eat a lot of Filipino food. I installed a generator so I'm good to go for a while with that. It is certainly a different lifestyle.

Just a word of friendly advice on the particleboard desks, shelves, etc. In the climate we have here in the Philippines...unless it is in an airconditioned environment - low humidity - it has a pretty limited shelf life before it starts swelling and delaminating. Have your carpenter relatives - if they are finish carpenters replace with solid treated wood.

Lots of comments on the house. We moved in ours when we had 1 bedroom, 1 CR and small kitchen. Gradually over the years have been adding and adding. Now have 2 floors, 6 bedrooms, 3 CRs, large dining room inside and out, large lounge, patio etc. The province life is the best. Sitting outside at night having a beer, family around you, no motorbikes, no karaoke, peace and quiet, perfect. Look around there are usually plenty of furniture makers/carpenters who make furniture out of good solid wood. Good prices as well. Don't knock the Province life until you have tried it.

Like many said, you could have waited to finish the house to be ready to move in. You could have stayed with the truck with Lot in a separate car rental to be there in case of problems. Let the van with dogs and childs go direct to destination. Forget the scratches and doors removed. You can fix it. You live in the "jungle" now, not in a fancy condo. Nobody care about scratches in the provinces. Anyway, you did your best and good luck in this new adventure.🙂

I'm so sorry this happened to you, Brian. I'll be the first to say that some movers here in the states are not very good, but I worked for several years in a moving company. It was a small "mom & pop" company that was affiliated with a national moving company and this kind of move would be 100% unacceptable. On occasion we did scratch something or an item got broke, but not very often. When it did happen the customer got full compensation for the item.

omg..Truck finally arrived ,,,nice. If you consider that you up and moved in 1 weekend..it all went as well as it could have. I would have flown down ahead of time and got the house finished first, before furniture was moved in. When we moved our home from Manila to CDO...our moving truck only went to manila port (8 miles) and then took a "manila to Cebu RoRo". And then switched to a Cebu to CDO RoRo..and then drove the 8 miles to our new house in CDO.

It really pisses me off, when your perfectly justified in being upset for poor service but, your Filipina tells you to relax. This video convinces me that, the jungle life isn’t for me! I’ll take a luxury condominium in Cebu City ( Business Park ). You get what you pay for Brother 🇺🇸🇵🇭🤣

I guess that the only way that you can make sure that everything arrives the way that you sent it is to ride with the moving crew. Sorry that not everything went the way that it was planned. I'm sure that when the truck broke down that they didn't feel like taking any longer than needed to load up the other truck. I'm sure that they were already tired from having so many things going wrong for them. Happy that the truck arrived and that you have everything that you sent.

I'm not sure what you're plan is with the well pump. I'd suggest putting the wires underground in some metal conduit and marking the path clearly so it doesn't get disturbed in the future... underground wiring has it's advantages and disadvantages... I lived on a large-ish property that had it's own well but it also wasn't the Philippines

That place has a lot of potential..just need a wheelbarrow, a metal rake, a weedwhacker, a shovel or 2, a workshop wide hard bristle broom, a pair of garden shears. Oh and of course a hammock for Brian to lay in while watching the work take place😂

Brian did his work before he even arrived to the Philippines. His money now, money which everyone there is benefiting from, equals that work. With that being said, I'm sure he's not going to just lay around and not help out around the house. So you have all of your expenses paid for ... Food, housing, electric, internet, etc., and in exchange you have to cook, sweep, and wash clothes? Take away his money, and you still have to do all of those things, just with a whole lot less to live on: Sounds like a pretty fair trade to me. Lot's a hard worker for sure, but Philly ain't no bum either.

    * Did you consider doing a PRO MO vlog for the Big hardware store in a prior episode
of the town . You'll get a Good L👀K around for their stock on hand .
    * They get Exposure , you'll benefit somehow ,you - know.
It appeared rather NEW ! See what they carry for your repair / replacement needs.
~ Take a ride , shake off some stress & make some New friends .
*Set a couple of Bird feeders out near you viewing zone & pick up a pair of binoculars.
    You'll see many I'd say ? You're an early riser anyway .
    GOOD LUCK ! 👍 🎯

It's better everything got there, then for nothing to get there. From moving myself a number of times, I've learned the best way to move is to move myself. And if I'm moving a long distance, then only take what I can carry myself and just get what's needed when I get there. Spending the money to move things long distance has cost me more in replacement costs, damage costs, etc. It's just much easier to give things away, sell what you can sell, and just take the bare essentials and what's most important. Save the money you pay for movers costs, and just buy the big essential stuff when you get there.

They should have consulted you first before moving your things to another truck. That way someone could have gone to the transfer point and supervised the transfer of your goods.

Comparing today's video to 11 days ago "AMERICAN EXPAT MOVING TO ONE OF THE MOST PRISTINE ISLANDS IN ALL OF THE PHILIPPINES" video. You have turned into a scruffy frustrated Viking for sure. Shave, and go rent a place on the beach with aircon and beer for a couple nights. When you get back the house and your outlook will both be way better :)
