Ok so I’ve finally managed to get my hands on the leaked andor season 2 trailer which was featured during star wars celebrations but not made available to the wider public. And its a pretty short trailer, actually more like a teaser trailer, but we still need to break it down. However, since this trailer wasn’t supposed to be released publicly in the first place I can’t really show you the whole trailer. The most I can do is probably do screen shots, and given how bad the quality is, this won’t be the most detailed breakdown either. Instead, I'll go over some general points and observations I noticed while watching, and if you are interested in watching the trailer, I’ll leave a link down below as to where I found it. Anyways, let's get started.
We begin the trailer with a bunch of behind the back shots, quite similar to some of the trailers we got for season 1. And we do get to see possibly a few new locations. This here might be inspector jung who turned out to be the rebel spy in season 1, and looking at the backdrop this does appear to be coruscant. Then in the next shot we see Patergaz walk into this circular looking room, but more on that later. A lot of the shots from the trailer are really just close up shots of the characters we were introduced to back in season 1. We see Cassian, Mon Mothma, Cyril, Bix, Dedra, Luthen, and Vel. We also see that Cyril has undergone some serious changes as he is now dressed in black with a beret, and what this might suggest is that since the events on Ferrix, with him saving Dedra Meero, Cyril may now be formally part of the Empire. Potentially working as a low level operative, and we do see him converse secretly with another imperial. We also see him read some sort of message written on a thin slip of paper which really reminds me of how spies communicate with each other in the real world. Writing information on small bits of paper that could be easily hidden inside a pen or some other small object.
We see Cassian enter a room with his blaster drawn, and judging by the decor of the room, it does look pretty luxurious. As least more luxurious than what Cassian might be used to. But what is even more interesting is that in the next shot we see Cassian and Bix sharing some intimacy. Which seems to indicate that the two are back together. As we learned back in season 1, Bix and Cassian do share a romantic past with each other which ended for some reason. Bix then went on to have a relationship with Tim, but with Tim now out of the way, Cassian and Bix are free to rekindle an old flame. And if you look in the background, you can see a lamp of some sort, and the design of the lamp seems to match the lamp from an earlier scene. And this creates a lot of questions, as if Cassian is returning to his own room, why does he have his blaster drawn? Is he infiltrating his own room or crashing in someone else's? Does this have something to do with Bix? So who knows? But I find it far from a coincidence that both scenes take place in a room with the same type of decor.
In the next shot, we get to see Kleya, who turns around quite elegantly dressed in some fancy looking clothes. This scene is of course taking place in Luthen’s shop, and its hard to say what this scene means without some additional context, but the colour of her clothes might give us a clue as to the situation. If you go back to season 1 of andor, Kleya only really dresses in two types of colours. When she is acting as the shop assistant, Kleya mostly dresses in a white and blue colour scheme. But when she is going undercover or running a mission outside the shop, she changes into dark reddish colours. And so you can interpret her wearing red as her true face, the individual who is completely devoted to the rebellion willing to do whatever is necessary. And when she wears blue and white, she becomes the shop keeper’s assistant, a facade hiding from the Empire. So with her wearing those same colours, you can be sure she is acting in an official capacity, putting up an act to some end. We then of course see Cyril eating cereal with his mom, which we have seen many times in season 1. We also see Dr Gorst make a return, no doubt interrogating some other poor soul, we cut to some protests before being shown Mon Mothma continued political adventures, and its pretty clear she is trying to gain more support for the rebellion. We also see Chief Inspector Jung riding that same elevator he used to visit Luthen, but this time his blaster is drawn. The purpose of which is rather unclear but things don’t look too good. We then see a group of people entering what looks to be a sewer, and the picture quality isn’t great, but this looks like Cyril who is leading the group. No doubt conducting an investigation of some sort...

Kleya is so reminiscent of leia that I almost want her to be a decoy. Padme had decoys, and bale organa saw how useful that was from a security standpoint and could’ve used a similar tactic to keep leia safe. Padme’s decoys were also trained in everything the queen was so they could jump in at any time. It would be such fun continuity for her to be a leia decoy.

Ok Here is my analysis bear with me its going to be quite long
the first scene shows Dr Gorst going up in an elevator
The second is back of Major Partagaz in an sort of ISB situation room, which is absent from S1
    Third shot is Cassian
Fourth shot is presumably Perrin, as the hairstyle matches, then the shot continues on the ground he is walking
    Fifth shot is Cassian again
We then get a bunch of shots of Mon Mothma, Bix and Syril
We also see Luthen visiting perhaps Bix or someone close to him
We see Vel dressed in black, this fashion seems to permeate throughout the planet shown in the Trailer, Redditors have guessed this new plaent could be Ghorman, or Chandrilia, or the moon mentioned at end of S1. We also then get Syril Karn being told by other officers something is happening. Syril got a promotion to being part of the Empire.
Syril opens a message, it says don't forget to drink your Ovaltine - this was discovered by someone on Reddit - this could be a secret message exchanged in part of Luthen's Rebellion and Syril starts to uncover it.
An imperial officer on the new planent again, and Cassian visiting the same apartment Luthen visits earlier, this is Bix's, we also then see Bix and Cassian getting intimate.
Kleya with some gloves and Syril with his Mom, note an spider-like object is on the table, this is also the container of which Syril opens the message.
Then we see someone clapping his hand on to his elbow, I think this is Uncle Harlo, or some other person
Someone pointing a gun maybe Bix
Dr Gorst saying the same line Vel said in S1
People on new planent protesting, this planent is like space france, with the berets and attire
Mon mothma and some alien, Mon mothma talking to someone, maybe Perrin, since the cloth is black and matches the fourth shot
This maybe the timeline of Ghorman Masscare, as Tony has said that they will incorporate the canon events into S2, there is also a leaked behind the scenes shot of Cassian leading Mon Mothma somewhere else on Reddit, this maybe when Mon Mothma escapes with the Ghost Crew.
Lonni in Elvator, there appears to be an turbulence
Cassian with some other people in a sewer
    The ISB situation room again
Wilmon Paak and some other rebels seemingly preparing for some fight.
We then see Cinta, and Luthen with an very solemn face, it appear something is happening in his shop.
Kleya then hides the communication channel at back of the shop
We also get to see Dr Gorst hands getting clipped
Wilmon Paak and some other woman, it then shows lots of shots of an fight going on on this plaent, with Lagret saying shut it down at the end.

    1:59 That looks like Syril's mother's apt.
Maybe andor has tracked Syril down?
2:07 Those lamps are seen throughout Coruscant in Andor.
5:38 I'm pretty sure that's Vel with Cinta's hand touching her face.
Vel will have brown hair in season 2.

Andor has been real tough to analyze.
I mean, like ... we spent so much time trying to speculate on the context of the space battle in the trailers, and in the end it turned out to be a completely random encounter.
And we were wondering about the meaning of Cinta looking up at the Star Destroyer, and wondering how she'd get off of Aldani, and then ... well, she evidently somehow got off the planet off screen.
About the only thing we guessed correctly from the trailers was that B2EMO at the head of the big procession meant that Maarva had died.

One thing I have noticed (and do not like) with Andor, and all of the other Disney Star Wars shows and movies, is that the characters do not talk like Star Wars characters.
According to some interviews from George Lucas and other reports, he took inspiration from classical acting from the Golden Age of Hollywood (1930s and 1940s). Look at films like Casablanca or Gone With The Wind (or any of the Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers film serials), then watch any of Lucas' original six films and I believe you will notice the similarities. I always thought that was a genius idea to take classical acting and put it in another galaxy.
However, once Disney took over and Lucas left, Star Wars no longer feels like "a galaxy far, far away" anymore. The characters talk more like people on Earth with current vernacular and swear words (the word "shit" used in Andor, for instance). Current vernacular works in shows like the Expanse because it takes place in our galaxy and most of the people come from Earth. But it doesn't work when you put it in Star Wars.
Now before you say anything, I know that Han Solo said the word "Hell" in A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. The difference between that and what Disney is doing is that Star Wars was still finding its footing in 1977 and 1980. By the time you get to Return of The Jedi in 1983 and the prequels in 1999 up to 2005, the characters stopped saying that word. Now it's commonplace for them to not say "Hell" because they are from a different galaxy, so they would not know any of our religions, thus not use "Hell" as a swear word.
Another reason that Andor doesn't feel like Star Wars to me (and it's not just because it has no lightsabers or pew, pew, pew) is that it felt more like they were trying to go for a feeling similar to Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica or that of the Expanse. The problem is that that type of science fiction doesn't fit with Star Wars. Star Wars is supposed to have the feeling of a grand space opera similar in style to the classical acting seen in 1930s-1940s Hollywood, even when you focus on a non-force sensitive character. Now there have been cases in the original Expanded Universe where some stories didn't focus on Jedi. For example, I read one and a half of the X-wing novels a few years ago and while they focused more on non-force sensitive pilots and felt more like a spy espionage type story, they still felt like I was reading something from a galaxy far, far away.
      @@emilianomartorell3587

    • @emilianomartorell3587
      @emilianomartorell3587 6 месяцев назад

@@tyrannozilla Interesting. I get what you’re saying. So I think some would respond by saying how is “shit" a problem, but the fact that they're using other English words isn't? You can just assume they're speaking a foreign language that you're hearing translated into English, swears included. If you're watching a film in French with subtitles and they say "Merde!", what will the subtitles say? Also they did make an effort to not use Earth slang like the Sequels did. I really liked the apparent invention of a Ferrixian deity (Chobb) or similar so that we have equivalents to “what in God’s name is happening?” and “For God’s sake!” which seem to be otherwise missing idioms in SW.
Salman Paak (of Cassian): “What in the name of Chobb has he done this time?!”
As for the X-wing novels I think you’d Maybe feel a bit differently about them if you’d continued to read the third, half of which was basically Law and Order: Star Wars Edition (and I loved it).
I disagree with this notion that a franchise can't evolve beyond what it began as. As our favorite ISB operative puts it: systems either change or die. If Star Wars can't be anything but what it always has been, then what's the point of making new Star Wars? We already have what it has been.

    • @tyrannozilla
      @tyrannozilla 6 месяцев назад

I never said a franchise can't evolve, but it needs to remember what made it successful in the first place. Evolving doesn't mean that all the DNA has to be removed and replaced.
Another reason, I believe, that the dialogue in the prequels and OT could come off as campy and awkward to audiences is that the characters are aliens. How they talk to each other may seem awkward to us, but it is normal for them. They shouldn't talk like we do. Disney tried doing this, and look how that's turned out. I'd rather have the characters seem awkward (even in the OT, they talk a little like this) over the use of current vernacular in a galaxy far, far away.
Another theory I have regarding the Star Wars galaxy is that while we, the audience, are hearing the characters speak English, they aren't really speaking English. It's just translated for the audience. Throughout the six films, it's been revealed that the galaxy has a universally written alphabet (Aurebesh), but we never hear their native language and how they speak their alphabet. That's because it is translated to English (or any other language on Earth).
Oh, and for the record, I know that in the original version of "A New Hope," there was English lettering on the tractor beam readout and Lucas added the Aurebesh in the "Special Edition." However, he did have Aurebesh in the later films, so it made sense for him to add it in the original film for continuity.

@@Dankergold Not sure about the original commentor, but I understood it, far more than you, and my understanding came to the conclusion that Tony Gilroy is a hack and Andor is a dumpster fire.
Timeline discrepencies, prop mess ups, dialog mess ups, storyline mess ups, character mess ups (Cassian was originally from Fest, not Kenari, so thats been retconned, along with him saying he has never been to jail before in Rogue One.) Diego Luna was miscast for the part. The character is in his 20's when Diego is in his 40's with no attempt at de-aging. Headbutts in the world of Andor are about as fatal as getting hit with a lightsaber if not more so. And I'm just scratching the surface.

@@greenknight5432 1. Most of the shots framed within the cinimatography, doesn't even look like Star Wars. And the amount of OT era droids that should have been basically peppering the scenes all over the place are non-existent. And I can count the number of alien species, which should be everywhere. On one hand. And thats Gilroy, he wants his Star Wars as close to real life as possible. Which means he has no business writing or directing anything Star Wars related.
      2. I'm supposed to care about his "adoptive mother." who kidknapped him, then he just accepts her as mommy in some Stockholm syndrome malarky. He probably never questioned why she apparently didn't grab his sister either. Or was ever miffed about it.
      3. The show kicks off with him searching for his sister in a brothel, talk about awkward. I guess Gilroy finds incest to be some sort of secret kink for himself.
      4. A same sex couple, cool. Except they don't do anything. Other scenes hint at sex, except we don't see it. Because while the show wants to be on HBO Max, it's on Disney+. Thats okay though, its not like Timm comes off as a guy thats a catch in bed anyway.
      5. It just drops plot and storylines. Example the search for his sister. But I guess since he couldn't realistically find her in that brothel for bro and sis to knock boots on Disney+. They just decided whatever and dropped it.
      6. Mommy/kidknapper dearest even said to drop it, because she is a terrible child trafficker.
      7. Mon Mothma is broke or something and can't move funds, she needs creds, and some of the money from the heist is never sent her way.
      8. The Rebel Cell is actually Russian Communists I guess, rocking AK's and I bet that was intentional. Even though it retcons the entire IP as a space opera/fantasy not located on Earth. And was probably heavily inspired by the 1907 Tiflis bank robbery. Lenin and Stalin say "Ya can't catch me copper!!"
      9. In Rogue One we learn Cassian had never seen a cell or had been jailed. In Andor he clearly was, aka retcon.
      10. Andor's homeworld according to this show, is Kenari. According to the Rogue One Visual guide, Cassian was from Fest. Another retcon.
      11. It was said and heavily implied the Imperials in the show wrecked Kenari and left it toxic. In the show we see that the crew that crashed on the planet are actually CIS. It was also framed in a shot and shown that the place was being mined before or recently when those kids were on there and the planet. His "mom" (oh sorry, kidnapper) called the CIS people Republicans too. Continuity mistake.
      12. I've heard people claim the show is as slow as a glacier with pace. I don't neccesarily share that opinion, because I don't feel "pacing" in stories actually exists. When people are saying that, it's just an overall symptom of the structural issues with the writing. Basically, the writing is overall terrible.
So yeah I understand the show, quite well. Kenobi as terrible as it mostly is besides the fight scenes. Have even less errors than this overrated dumpster fire.
