The average Star Wars fan doesn't deserve Andor; it was wasted on them. They deserve The Mandalorian, but anything much better is wasted on their feeble attention spans. Sadly, the same is true all modern fandoms. It's the same reason that is taking so long for you to reach 1-million subs. The vast majority of people just want to turn their brains entirely off while they consume media while they constantly keep looking down at their phones and their tablets.

I'm both amazed and disappointed that Andor's ratings are so low -- it's such a deep and epic ride through the Star Wars universe, all from the perspective of just normal people within it... tho I suppose that lack of Jedi and Sith with their shiny swords is probably why it doesn't fare as well in the ratings, which is a real shame. Star Wars as an IP has so much more potential within it than just lightsabers and Skywalkers :(

    • @magmapixel8627

Andor's ratings honestly vindicate its overall message more than anything else. We are asleep. The Empire is never more powerful than when we sleep. Andor is about ordinary people, not larger-than-life heroes. Andor shows how anyone can make a difference. It forces us to take responsibility for the world we live in. That scares people. They would rather turn their brains off and watch epic lightsaber duels than confront that.

Where are these bad ratings? feels subjective because ive never ran into someone who didnt like Andor, Star Wars fan or not. idk how many stats you gotta pull to validate good or bad but both imdb and rtoms have pretty positive ratings on both critic and community ratings. So idk, if its dollar amount alone that gives it "low ratings" im not buying it. So anyone that gets an opportunity to talk about Andor, appears to, most often have good things to say from my experience. I watch star wars for the space wizards too but Andor is undeniably star wars espionage / spy thriller written well.

A show could be amazing -- and Andor is, imho... but if no one watches it, then it fails -- especially if it has contemporaries in the same setting that draw even more views. Andor had 2.7-3.3 million unique viewers, while the more critically received Acolyte had around 4.8 million, and Mandalorian season 1 had an impressive 25-30 million. The other Star Wars shows and seasons of them are scattered across that range, putting Andor at the very end in terms of viewers :(

Andor is the thinking person’s Star Wars. It shows how a person like Cassian Andor is transformed from a disinterested leave-me-out-of-it NPC to an all-in idealist willing to sacrifice himself for the good of others. He knows the choices are difficult, some actions are morally questionable, and ultimately, what he contributes to the Rebellion may not be enough. But his gradual awakening to the horrors of the Empire, shown through events that carry him along without his will or consent, force him to take action. His is an amazing story that needs to be told. Legends are made, not born. And we need to see this one.

A big factor is that Andor understands that it is a *TV show*, taking its look, tone and pace from British miniseries of the '70s and '80s (with added budget and tech), and uses the strengths and limitations of that medium - instead of trying to be a blockbuster SW movie stretched horribly, painfully thin over multiple episodes and seasons.

What I absolutely love is the trifactor of:
    1. Rogue One
    2. Andor
    3. Rebels
They all together have incredible world-building which is surprisingly consistent given how different all these 3 are in tone and material.
Seeing that Krennic is back to connect us to Rogue One and some other aspects will connect us more to Rebels (Mon Mothma for example) I really can't wait for this show.
To me, this trifactor also shows that YES, we can have StarWars with different tone, style and even target audience and still create a cohesive world.
While Andor was scraping by in the galactic conflict yes, the Rebels Crew did steal food from the empire BUT we also had a lot of connections between both that really painted a good picture of the current world:
A good example is "the network" where only one person from a small Rebel cell is connected to a central figure (Mon Mothma, Luthen and Bail Organa). In your Rebel-Crew it was Hera who reported to Bail Organa (through Ahsoka most of the time), while the Aldani-Crew had Vel and her connection to Luthen. None of the other people in the crew should even know of this person. This was the case in Rebels until the end of Rebels Season 1 and on Aldani where they even lied where Clem/Andor came from so that they could hide Luthens involvement.
Now, the two connections I really want to see in Season 2 of Andor are:
    1. Obviously a connection to Mon Mothma's escape from Coruscant and her speech that started the Rebel Alliance fully. I don't really need the Rebels Episode in live-action like some are saying but what I would find fascinating: If they showed us the other part of her escape, her actually getting of Coruscant after she made that Senate-Speech. Given that we see quite a lot of Coruscant already I think there is a good chance we can actually get this
    2. The second one is only a VERY small part of Rebels and more of a background-detail but I was fascinated by it since I first heard it. I am talking about Krennic and Thrawn fighting against one another to get their respective projects the most funding from Palpatine. The reason this is so fascinating is that I believe if Thrawn would have succeeded (and he probably would have without the Ghost-Crew interfering) the Rebels wouldn't have won against the empire. Their biggest strength was that the basic Empire-Tech was badly designed. Thrawns plan was it to fight against the Rebels by making small changes to extremely important equipment. That would have over time eliminated this flaw. Krennic on the other hand delivered a Weapon with "unlimited power" (something NO Sith can withstand) ... that was destroyed the moment it was completed. Given that we see Krennic in this, I hope we will get another hint at this from his point of view because in Rebels we have seen this from Thrawns point of view.

But Andor is completely contradictory to that. Every word and sentence has a meaning and builds up on each other. And every bit of set is purposefull in the details. But some Audience has forgotten to aprecciate it, doesn't pay attention, and will only sum it up as "too little action, too slow pacing, I turned off after the second episode" ... and not even understand what they just missed.
For those of us who cared, it was like being an art-professor who, for the first time in his life, was able to see the Mona Lisa IRL.
Andor is the description of the Empire that we all had in our brain stored after Episode IV-VI of Original star wars.
And fills out all the details that have been left out in the original space opera.
With art, style, passion and love for every detail
Thank you Tony and Diego ❣❣❣

I was one of the only people in my family who didn't mind Andor's slower pace. When a lot of people hear Star Wars, they think "Episode 4" back to back action and clear stakes, and while I enjoy Andor's tone and pacing, plenty of Star Wars fans don't, sadly.

That is cinema, isn't it? All the cool and pivotal moments in a narrative, with minimal usage of the mundane day-to-day activities and engagements. Season 1 did a really good job with the show me of exposition, and I'm sure season 2 will carry on the same way.
Compelling characters with a stake that may be won or lost, are so important to a meaningful story.

Everything that everyone complains about Andor doing, like no lightsabers, mature dialogue, grittier story, no Force, etc. are the best things about it. The second series should be fantastic! It's a Star Wars story, but not a classic Star Wars story (which is how you get the sequel trilogy). Edit: The Interceptor was a massive set, and it was so cool to see a full sized TIE fighter at work.

Andor may not be as "immediately entertaining" as other Star Wars content (as far as action and knocking you over the head with what you want fan-service-wise) but it is beautifully artistic, well crafted, amazingly shot, artfully scripted, and VERY philosophical. It's an "artist's" Star Wars, and I love it. It makes the universe feel so big and expansive, and as good as The Mandalorian is, and with as many different planets and settings they've been to, I feel like I can actually experience an expansive difference with Andor. The behind the scenes politics of the prequels mixed with everything else going on in plain view is so perfectly done. It is kind of like an aesthetic "Star Wars ASMR" to watch this slowly plotted out, beautifully shot show episode by episode, but paying attention has a huge payoff.

What I love about this show the uprising of the Rebellion in live action. Rogue One was amazing, but the Rebellion was pretty much there. This series shows the development and the struggles, which I really do appreciate that Lucasfilm has taken the time to create. It’s a very different outlook show than most others, but it’s one that I feel is a necessity as the Galaxy comes closer and closer to the Battle of Yavin.

I know he said he doesn't want to do this for a decade, but man Tony Gilroy and the rest of the Andor production crew NEED to be given future Star Wars projects to work on. Andor is easily the most professional, successful and beloved Star Wars project since Rogue One and it's a level of quality that has been sorely lacking in shows like Acolyte and Kenobi. Star Wars needs talented people, not amateurs.

It'll be interesting to see how they approach this with each three episode arc now spanning a year in between the mini trilogies. What we don't get are Cassian's personal development in terms of being almost a bum and unreliable to pulling off what he did in the last episode - that's a LOT of character development. So this might be more spy thriller and lots of who you see from season one dying - I'm expecting everyone except him & Mon Mothma will fall. I do recall seeing a behind the scenes look of Cassian escorting Mon very quickly on foot through Coruscant (that might be right before what happens in Rebels) We're not going to have the emotional weight of say his mom dying or coming to grips with what happened with his dad. So this is tricky, like any sequel.
But this is also Gilroy & crew. This could be peak Bourne Supremacy.
