[Fel. Den] mini logo is the current deck I'm using and its trash. the price I great and all but the shape is weird, the nose is big and the tail is tiny and the concave is super steep......i do not recommend it
Growing up in small town Indiana there was only one BICYCLE shop in town that carried any skateboard gear at all and that consisted of spitfire classics (off-white), bones reds, black diamond griptape and mini logo blanks in about 4 different colors and as cheaply made as they were they were not cheap (40 bucks in 1996). So... when you saw a dude riding one you just knew something unexpected had happened to his real board and he had to decide whether to spend 50 on a decent deck from ccs and wait 10 days to skate again or had down to Bickles and skate a mini logo immediately and it was the saddest bit of understanding...
Ben, I just threw some ventures lows on an 8' plan b but I usually skate indy 149s so I can have bigger wheels because of their height, so wish me luck with my 56mm wheels on ventures😂😂
I just got a set of the 5.2 lows but the non hollowed out ones. Have been looking at all of the 5.2 lows for a fair while but since I’ve already have a pair of Indie 139 Standards and some 147 Thunder Hollow Lights II I wasn’t going to get a pair. But then early this week I saw a deal that was around 60% cheaper and pounced. Now I have a truck that is even lower than the Thunders yet retain that hefty weight of the Indies. That’s going to be an interesting ride.
“But don’t worry you guys, you can still get wheel bite really savagely on these trucks” (5:51). Loved that statement. Suppose that’s why 50 mm n less wheels came to be
Good video! But I don't think that ventures and thunders feel the same at all. Thunders make it feel like you have a much shorter wheel base, because the hangers placement on the base plate is so different from ventures.
My first set of trucks was ventures in like 92..then rode thunder for 20 years and was like fuck it ima try ventures again. Grabbed some venture lows I think, threw them on a sebo walker krooked 8.06,and I'm like Wtf did I stop riding these? They grind hella nice and sick pop on my flip tricks.. I recommend em fs🤘
I prefer Venture over thunder. I don’t know why, but thunder feel often so unstable compared to ventures. Also because of that, I think they feel noticeably different.
Hey Ben I have bones hard bushings and was able to fit them in my Venture lows with the trucks original top and bottom washer, I also put the extra washer that bones includes under the bottom bushing. So it goes: original bottom venture washer>bones washer>bottom bushing>top bushing> original top washer. I originally put them on per the instructions, but felt like it made the board really aggressive and unstable so I switched it up. I’m 240lbs and have only been skating for a couple weeks hence why I didn’t want a loose truck for wheel bite etc.. Will this bushing set up affect anything negatively?
I only rode ventures as a kid until i switched to indys when i was a teenager. One of these days I'll set up a 8.0 and some ventures for the no turn nostalgia.
Thanks for the feedback about em. By the way can you make a video of how to bail out properly to avoid injuries on rails, ledges, stairs, and transition...
It's funny because I bought some Venture 5.8 Highs about 6 weeks ago for the 1st time in 18 years & having skated nothing but Indy's since then. I have to say that I was very impressed with my Vs! Turning wasn't so bad for me - maybe the Highs have a bit more room for turning? Manuals were a piece of piss on these & it shortened my wheelbase even smaller than Indy's do, & for me being a short guy this is great as it helps my board pop a little faster!
those falls made me think that i need to start stretching, so far i been able to counter falls because of the extra muscle i have from the gym, but i am only getting older and i am as well jumping more high stuff at more speed, it should be the oposite but here i am, tryng with all my might to get my childhood back today.
During what part of the ninties did they use red urethane? I rode the featherlites pretty religiously from like 95-98, and they always had green pivot cups and bushings. Interesting!
yeah the first pair of ventures standards i put on sent me off flipping like magic everywhere for a year. untill rolled my ankle on 4 stairs. i finally recovered and just ordered some hollows. im using bones bushings right now on the standards but there nothing like they were out of the box.
I was in god mode riding these trucks back in 2012. A week ago. I rode a pair of 1/16 riser pads with these trucks to try out the Thunder trucks height. It didnt work out at all. I ghost tapped a lot from the Thunder trucks height. No wonder mini logo make their trucks as tall as venture low.
low trucks equal more board feel I'm sure.. everyone rides high for higher pop... anyways I miss my low ventures it was truly snappy for fliptrix. now I'm on low Indy's with a 7.875 polar deck. 50mm wheels and hard bones bushings.. kingpin clearance for bushings and plates is a struggle on low trucks. I'm a 90's rider. I shall buy ventures again soon. however grinding down my Indy's have brought that light feeling and the kingpin clearance is alot better on Indy's. Indy's do look the better truck for sure
loved ventures as i prefer really tight trucks. i had a few baseplates break on me over the years though, was when i was younger n jumping down decent size stuff though. bought some thunders a few years back for street board n they've served me very well since, very good truck for people that like em tight i reckon. Bought some indies for a bigger bowl or vert deck. Feel a little less stable on em than the thunders, maybe just due to bigger setup? or dunno if indies just turn more whereas i prefer less turning trucks.
Ben you gotta do the 144mm indys? I feel like no one skates them but they are awsome, i cant stand 139 indys on 8 board then i need thunders. 144mm feels so good on 8.25 and they are not as heavy as the 149, i dont know if people just dont really know about them.
Ben, Would you be able to do a trick tip on how to feeble grind on transition. I know that you’ve covered this on a rail, however on transition would be great 👍
Hi Ben. I really love your videos, especially the truck reviews. I am really curious about how the low 139 indy feel and can't find anything as an answer. Do you plan on reviewing them? And can you or anyone give me some clues here in the comments section? Thanks dude keep up the good work! =D
I’ve been skating with hi venture pair and just got low pair as gift and I wanna use them. If I use Real 3 ply risers they will feel similar to hi pair?
Not sure if I missed it or if you didn't mention it, but what wheel size are you riding here? Never had a truck this low but I want a tech setup, currently riding indy 148 forged hollows with 52s comfortably
Yeah, Carroll is the man ! ! My favourite skater of all time. Guy Mariano....!!!! I'm a huge fan since Ban This. I'm so stubbornly only want Venture low's when the high was half the price in the sale compare with the low's. Even tho I ride Indy's and Thunder's these days only... 😂 Why am I still looking...... feels like a married man looking back in time thinking of his ex in their teenage time.
As usual the skating rules and I won't ever try ventures. Waiting patiently for your Thunder-Indies comparison 2.0. You already know when you will put that one out? I am leaning towards Thunders as of now...
@@tweekedmobb1789 i bought them and i try to do some stairs set i tried to kickflip it and my impression is like (hey its feels like slightly like an indy pop while lighter at the same time ) and the vision risers pad i seriously like it tho no pressure cracks thx dude
Azizul Hakimi glad you like it🤙 you could also try the other thing i do to make it feel more like indy’s... i take the top washer off & switch the bottom bushing for an indy extra soft(the white one) i saw kader doing it similar. makes the trucks wobbly & turn way better/faster & trains you to be speed wobble proof. and taking the top washer off helps you not hang up on grinds. although having the trucks jiggle definitely makes flip tricks harder & less consistent. im more into big pools & bombing hills anyways tho but i can still flip it
@@tweekedmobb1789 i have the indy forged titanium 139 i like to use that for jumping over object but for the venture to me its like much more in transition but might try to take off the top washer on the ventures and put the indy extra soft bushing soon.
Azizul Hakimi i like indy too. that’s what i started on & i only rode indy’s for a long time. but i like venture lo’s because they are some of the lowest trucks. indy used to be lower before the stage 11s. i still like them but i prefer the pop & stability of a lower truck. they also have a great pinch/grind. especially without the washer/switching the bushings. perfect for round rails. also they are almost impossible to hang up on transition because the hanger doesnt stick out from the baseplate like most other trucks
Do you have any boards to recommend for this trucks, i got these trucks and i want to give it another try. I loved them with the DGK 8.06 14.375 WB shape and really hate them with Darkstar 8.125 14.25 WB Impact ligth (no pop) if you know good shape with steep nose and tails i will give it another try, thanks!!
How do you not get insane wheelbite with lows and decent size wheels? I got some Tensor magnesium lows and I put them on with riser pads and tightened them with bones bushings and I couldn't use 52mm wheels with them, the wheelbite was so bad that landing any trick was like hitting a pebble. They work with my 47mms but I want a bigger wheel for street.
AD1 I recommend adding some venom downhill bushings to the tensors low. It helped tremendously with wheelbite and just the overall feel of the low 5.75s I had. 52mm was the biggest I was able before wheelbite became an issue. Have fun!
for what it's worth, I've been riding the venture low 5.2's from 2012-current exclusively with the bones medium bushings. Instead of keeping the bottom washer on like Ben, I put the og top washers on (not the thin washer that comes with the bone bushings). I absolutely love them! Personally I like looser trucks so I only tighten them down just enough for the nut to be flush with the kingpin threads. I think they turn great and I never had issues with them cracking.
I experienced same problem! I tryed out both venture high and low trucks. No way i can skate with venture stock bushings! The trucks work way better with bones hard bushings. In a way bones hard bushings almost feel softer then venture stock bushings and turn better! Also! You dont need to put the metal plate under the down bushing when using bones bushings! I would put the bones under bushing straight on truck and only put the (stock upper venture metal plate) on top of the top bones bushing! When you put the venture metal plate on top bushing the trucks feel more stable & should give better protection against any damage on bushings! One thing i will try is venture new bushings! Venture recently did special bushing pack (i got it for 10 eu) And they specially made the top bushing lower then their original stock bushings). And these new bushings venture sells separatly should make the trucks more loose! I will give them a shot! If they not work, i go straight back to bones hard bushings!
So i tryed ride venture 5.6 high venture trucks with stock venture bushings & bones hard bushings and bones were way better feel! Also tryed 5.2 high venture trucks with stock bushings & hard bones. And lastly i tryed venture low trucks with stock venture bushings & venture loose truck bushings! And yes.. Those venture green loose truck bushings can make your trucks loose as Daewon song. Its possible to make trucks crazy loose!! But there is something about the stock bushings and just not work. And now i have april shane o neil 8.125 board, mob grip, venture 5.2 low trucks with black bones bushings (i have the metal plate on top bushing and nothing under low bushing (just like Filip Gustavo!) Then bones ceramic bearings and 50 mm Pig prime wheels. This is the best setup i had in my life. To skate is absolute blessing. I learn tricks i never thinked about even trying before. Now its up to the weather to let me skate outside and push myself to next level!
First trucks I had was Grind King. Bestest truck ever to be honest. But the older I got, the heavier I got, the GK's dident seem to handle the weight :D
I don’t know what it is, but IMO your skating looks the best on venture lows. Always bolts, very steezy, just relaxed and lots of style.
I think Ventures were the second brand I ever owned and they have always been my favorite. Automatic go to if im unsure what to get. Riding the Indi hollows right but im with out a doubt going to end up back on Ventures in due time, I always do.

I think the venture lows 5.2s turn great on a short,(14"),wheel base. I love the stock bushings after a couple weeks they just get perfect IMO..
which companies do you know that have decks with a 14 wm? What size wheels do you ride?

Mate, I’ve just gone back to ventures, so good. 👊
“But don’t worry you guys, you can still get wheel bite really savagely on these trucks” (5:51). Loved that statement. Suppose that’s why 50 mm n less wheels came to be
Love these videos keep them going !
Great review like always, I am still waiting for Tensor's review.
Best truck of the 1990s and early 2000s Venture
Love the bloopers at the end 😂
You should do it 😳
@@jouhajohnny just copped a pair of old ventures I just need a lil toothpick board for doubleflips lmao
@@lordvader3538 nice
love ya ben, hella well made videos
Try those with some orange Indy bushings. Great skating and review!
Yo Ben I love the videos and how in depth you get with them, you ever think about reviewing Pig wheels? I personally love them
what size wheels were you riding with these trucks
The bones bushings are cones, btw. Barrel is like the opposite lol
Damn where do you find a skate park that's as empty as that, my closest one is usually filled
Venture my fav trucks
I need the Venture low 5.25 Titanium but they all sold out 🙈😩
samee
Ur getting super good Ben😎
You make great videos and helped me learn a bunch! One this id say is to Read the bones instructions. Installed incorrectly bro.
Yep. I fall like that too:(
Thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiastic review!
I just take out the bushing washers and now they perfect
low trucks equal more board feel I'm sure.. everyone rides high for higher pop... anyways I miss my low ventures it was truly snappy for fliptrix. now I'm on low Indy's with a 7.875 polar deck.
Water Bending Course at 9:23
loved ventures as i prefer really tight trucks. i had a few baseplates break on me over the years though, was when i was younger n jumping down decent size stuff though. bought some thunders a few years back for street board n they've served me very well since, very good truck for people that like em tight i reckon. Bought some indies for a bigger bowl or vert deck. Feel a little less stable on em than the thunders, maybe just due to bigger setup? or dunno if indies just turn more whereas i prefer less turning trucks.
Indy's turn a lot more. They have my favourite turn.
Ben you gotta do the 144mm indys? I feel like no one skates them but they are awsome, i cant stand 139 indys on 8 board then i need thunders. 144mm feels so good on 8.25 and they are not as heavy as the 149, i dont know if people just dont really know about them.
I will get to them. I have a pair.
Nice to hear! Looking forward to it :) All your rewivs ans stuff is good!
I’d kill to have a ledge spot like the one at the end
Ben,
Would you be able to do a trick tip on how to feeble grind on transition. I know that you’ve covered this on a rail, however on transition would be great 👍
This was super helpful, actually. Thanks!
its all about the red bushings with these! 90's kid knows
My polished 5.2 v hollows are my favorite trucks. I prefer them over my titanium versions.
Could you please tell me why? I'm about to buy a titanium venture low and I don't want to trow away my money!
The titaniums are very very light
Hi Ben. I really love your videos, especially the truck reviews. I am really curious about how the low 139 indy feel and can't find anything as an answer. Do you plan on reviewing them? And can you or anyone give me some clues here in the comments section? Thanks dude keep up the good work! =D
I always end up back on the regular Venture 5.2 lows no matter how hard I try to move on.
Same here. Perfect truck height for flip tricks and street. Even Mini Logo trucks and Indy low copied Venture low’s height.

what size wheels are you guys On?
50~51. never 52. i am a small guy. pain in the ass to flip 52. even 51 is difficult. 50 is perfect. but wear down quick

I’ve been skating with hi venture pair and just got low pair as gift and I wanna use them. If I use Real 3 ply risers they will feel similar to hi pair?
These trucks give my board loads of pop
I think that if you put the non-forged baseplate that will help with the wheelbite. Me too i was putting washer under the bones bushing!!!!
You can simply put the raiser pads instead, it can prevent from pressure cracks and better absorb the impact while landing tricks.
Do they turn worse than krux?
Not sure if I missed it or if you didn't mention it, but what wheel size are you riding here? Never had a truck this low but I want a tech setup, currently riding indy 148 forged hollows with 52s comfortably
Always wanted to ride ventures.
Happy with my aces so I don’t think I’ll ever ride them
Conor Judge that’s why.
I’ve always wanted ventures cause they’re cool. But since rising aces I can’t imagine ever getting a set of ventures
You should try them one day
Yeah, Carroll is the man ! ! My favourite skater of all time. Guy Mariano....!!!! I'm a huge fan since Ban This. I'm so stubbornly only want Venture low's when the high was half the price in the sale compare with the low's. Even tho I ride Indy's and Thunder's these days only... 😂
Why am I still looking...... feels like a married man looking back in time thinking of his ex in their teenage time.
As usual the skating rules and I won't ever try ventures. Waiting patiently for your Thunder-Indies comparison 2.0. You already know when you will put that one out? I am leaning towards Thunders as of now...
Venture low standard and venture low hollows have different base plates. Making the hollows even lower?
venture trucks were my 1st trucks, with Jason Carney 52 pro wheels
“still achievable, but i’m rolling up the windows a little...” what does this mean exactly?
update: it refers to his hand movements when balancing/manualing
Please do a tensor maglight regular review!
I alr got my (p-rod venture low hollow light ) but i feel i need to put the risers pad)
try the vision soft risers, that’s what i use. they prevent pressure stress cracks 🤙
The grind clearance is a deal breaker for me here.... would rather go with the venture high or independent mids.
👍🏼Awake
Have fun!
Just ordered a set!
My first trucks were venture now my second pair of trucks are the Krux Nora Vasconcelos pro model
I really want to try that venture lows 5.2 and put in my bones medium bushing. Im just not sure how will it feel when it comes to turning
for what it's worth, I've been riding the venture low 5.2's from 2012-current exclusively with the bones medium bushings.
They also sit closer towards the nose and tail compared to Thunders
damn those two falls at the end were hard!!
so in the 90s venture lows were skated the most not highs?
Wish they had 5.6 lows
First trucks I had was Grind King. Bestest truck ever to be honest. But the older I got, the heavier I got, the GK's dident seem to handle the weight :D
Do you have the GoPro in the waterproof case when you record and get such bad audio?
