    I play a fretless fender jazz (it was my first bass) but those GWBs just have THE SOUND that's in my head. I have to get one some day.

    I prefer the aural sounds of the Jaco Tribute bass. It just seems so much more expressive. The other two, as they were recorded, sound too muted or muffled. They sounded very good, but too muted. They almost had a synthesizer-bass sound. I'm partial to the more expressive sound of the Fender single coils.

    The Fender just has that incredible mid presence, punchy and articulate, lovely playing too man

    Gotta say, as much as i love willis, the sound you get out of the fender is my cup of tea!

    The fender bass had the most beautiful tone and the Fedora had more resonance. But all 3 sounded wonderful.

    The Ibanez sounds like a bass. The Fender has the Jaco-esque tone, but that’s something Jaco could make work. Not just anybody.

    I had a GWB. Although it is composed only of a bridge pickup, it produces a thick sound. I really liked GWB.

  • @nickpicc

    I liked the Jazz a little more than the GWB1, and the GWB1 a little more than the Fodera. All sounded great, and great playing!

  • @TheBassfresh
    @TheBassfresh Год назад +2

    Of those 3? Easily the Ibanez GWB . I have owned a fretless fender jazz but use and prefer an Ibanez SRH500F for the sound , it's more acoustic archtop quality with piezo pickup works better for jazz to my ears.

    Your playing technique sounds great on all 3. The Gary Willis Signature maybe seems a little warmer and sits back in the mix a little more whereas the Fender and Fodera cut through a little more.

    The Fender sounded more ballsy. Also the placement of the pickup on the Ibanez is not Idea. The Monarch was better than the Ibanez, but the Fender wins in my book.

    My usual propensity would be to say that I pick the one in the middle. Only, you played three instruments instead of two. You also played them equally well and made them sound equally appealing. I had to look at the screen in order to know you were playing different instruments.

    They all sound great with your paying. The Jaco Tribute expectedly nails the classic Jaco growl. The Gary Willis has its own character, as well.

    Great playing !
    I would take the Gary Willis because it is said to be very light… do you know the weight of that bass ?
    But, since the string spacing is too short, I would go for the Fender one.
    Is that Tribute model a 60s or 70s pickups spacing ?

    • @buchibass1
      @buchibass1  2 года назад +1

      Hi Amoud- the GWB 1 is the lightest bass I have…really, the stringspace is short but not problem to play.
      I don’t no which pickups spacing. For me all the 3 Fretless great. Every bass have something special

    Mister Bachman , I have never played a fretless bass but all three of those instruments sounded beautiful especially the " Jaco " Bass. Should there be a fretless in a bassists arsenal ? And if one is a beginner to this type of bass. What model would be a good started fretless ?

    • @jamcam9
      @jamcam9 Год назад

      Fender Player fretless jazz was my starter bass and I'd say it's a great starting point (internet generally agrees, aside from te usual Fender flame wars).

    ..ich finde es sehr schwer, denn alle drei Bässe sind auf ihre Art tolle Bässe und klingen richtig fein..aber für mich wäre die Reihenfolge Fender, GWB, Fodera. Der Fender klingt gut mittig und hat trotzdem Fundament, der GWB irgendwie mehr Wärme...und der Fodera klingt für meine Ohren etwas zu "seicht", da würde mir die Präsenz etwas fehlen.
    Sehr schönes Solo übrigens, klasse gespielt! 👍

    Ich mag beim Fender den etwas gedeckteren Klang bei gleichzeitig schönem sustain. Dem Sound des Fodera fehlt mir ein bisschen der Körper (das klingt nach Weinverkostung, aber ich weiß nicht wie man das ausdrücken soll); Man mischt da ja subjektiv immer viel von den eigenen Hörgewohnheiten mit rein. Wieder ein cooles Video.
