- Quick and easy pain relief option that fits in your pocket? Penthrox inhaler (known as the "green whistle") is a small but mighty tool that's changing how we manage acute pain! The #GreenWhistle is a handheld device that contains methoxyflurane, an inhaled analgesic that provides rapid #painrelief for trauma patients. Originally used as an anesthetic in the 1960s, #methoxyflurane has found new life as a self-administered pain management solution.
.
Here's how it works:
1. The patient inhales the medication through the whistle-like mouthpiece
2. Pain relief begins after just 6-8 breaths
3. Effects can last up to 30 min per dose
.
Key benefits:
• Fast-acting: Onset within minutes
• Self-administered: Patients control their own pain relief
• Portable: No needles or IV setup required
• Versatile: Effective for various types of acute pain
The #Penthrox inhaler is especially useful in emergency and pre-hospital settings. Paramedics can quickly provide pain relief at the scene of an accident. It's also gaining popularity in emergency departments for procedures like setting fractures or changing burn dressings. While generally safe (used as directed), it's important to note that methoxyflurane can have side effects like dizziness or nausea and is not recommended for consecutive day use due to potential kidney effects at high doses. From battlefields to ambulances to hospital rooms, the Penthrox inhaler is proving to be a game-changer in pain management. Its simplicity and effectiveness make it a valuable tool for healthcare providers and patients alike.

Medical vape, ahhh hail naw 😢.
Why was it withdrawn please?
Withdrawn for general anesthesia in the US due to concerns of kidney toxicity. Doses being used in inhaler version of medicine are much lower doses, thought to be safer and only recommended for very short term use.
@@BoneDoctor_RUclips Ah thank you very much. I'm in Australia. I must find out if they are still used here. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Love your channel!
Apparently not in usa.?
They should make them black market at some point, it'd sell a ton.
