Loving this outstanding display of patriotism from across the pond. Don't let the forces of darkness take it away. These displays of tradition and love of country are needed now in Britain and America more than ever. Peace and love to our mother country and God Save The Queen !! 🇺🇸🇬🇧

This 1990 rendition is undoubtedly one of the best Rule Britannia performances at a Last Night of the Proms ever! I well remember watching it live at the time. Absolutely brilliant!
This version is extraordinary for many reasons. THe audience the fuller longer version and lets not forget. These two singers. They are absolutely singing nthier hearts and throats out to that enormous hall. Murray is doing her best to sing over this oddly larger orchestra with some higher lines. Garrett is doing her most with the higher soprano line and charming variations on the melody.. But really this orchestra is literally knocking them almost over. In fact it adds to the sea faring , naval aspect of Britain. Look and you can see the ocean's waves! With Murray and Garrett at the helm! A very passionate night for sure. Overwhelming. Brava!!
I am an American, and I love patriotic music. I am also of English descent and I LOVE this performance. I no longer owe allegiance to the Crown (haven't for nearly 400 years), but I LOVE this performance. The Mezzo performance is a heart-stopper, and the soprano performance is outstanding. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 3. Still more majestic shalt thou rise, More dreadful, from each foreign stroke; As the loud blast that tears the skies, Serves but to root thy native oak. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 4. Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame: All their attempts to bend thee down, Will but arouse thy generous flame; But work their woe, and thy renown. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 5. To thee belongs the rural reign; Thy cities shall with commerce shine: All thine shall be the subject main, And every shore it circles thine. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 6. The Muses, still with freedom found, Shall to thy happy coast repair; Blest Isle! +curlyguy92 because we currently have a ruling bloodline that are so in love with themselves, they have an 'Anthem to the monarch' in place of a true national anthem.
American here. My understanding of the issue is that the lyrics of this anthem are painful to particular groups and individuals, according to the Big Brother Channel, therefore no longer shall rule Britannia be sung, hmmm! Is it really the lyric about (shhhh I can’t say it here if I do you won’t see it) but most of you know what I mean, is it really that portion of the song that’s the problem or is it the lyrics about the “tyrants and tyranny” and the unwillingness of the British people to “bend over” the real lyrical issue, hmmm. The anthem is more appropriate for the commonwealth realms, who have an equal voice in choosing your line of succession. Give us that right, or lose what part of the empire remains and just have your island.
