Lucky motherf**ka you will never know our pain, our fingers have been clutching this cliff for 2 years and now the moment of our deliverance is at hand 🖐️ btw this is sarcasm.
I just realised the reason why Milchick wanted to celebrate Helly reaching 75% refinery even though Irving says she only reached 73% was so that he could take pictures of her being happy.
What delayed the 2nd season was the writers and actors strike. Ya'll lucked out finding this just a few months before the 2nd season comes out. I'm one of the causalities that have been waiting since the finale aired. 😭
they had to put up with a lot of obstacles, so I’m genuinely impressed that we’re getting season two so early in 2025. I know it could’ve been earlier, but nothing can change that. At least we’re getting it. Let’s compare that to another popular show that aired in 2022 on HBO and season three of that isn’t even beginning production until 2025. And euphoria was one of HBO’s most popular shows.
This happened to me too, and it was amazing and gratifying to see Lupa have the same experience! During this finale, water/tears poured down my face but I wasn't crying, if that makes sense. Some kind of nervous system thing, maybe? I kept saying 'This is SO GOOD, oh my god it's SO GOOD, I cannot believe this' as the tears flowed. The not-crying but tears pouring thing happened to me only once before, when I was in an art museum and some painting hit me straight to the core. The feeling was so extreme I can't remember the painting or even the museum. It might have been at the Detroit Institute of Arts, which is stunning. At any rate... SHE'S ALIIIIIVE!
"Your Outie likes the sound of Radar." I love the payoff. Cause it could've just been a lie but they decided to give something truthful, or at least adjacent to the truth.
A theory is that the wellness check is meant to be a test to see if the severance is holding. So the list is mostly generic crap mixed in with some unique true statements. The one about Radar sounds like weird pointless trivia until you realize what it's actually about. And the reason that the innie is supposed to "appreciate each fact equally" is because nothing should stand out to them. If they "appreciate" the true facts more than the generic ones, that would suggest that some memories are leaking through.
Can you imagine how I feel? waiting for 3 years? The only way to quench the thirst is to watch season 1 over and over and over and over and over i lost count how many times I've seen season 1
No seriously because same. I’ve watched it so many times on my own and then I’ve watched so many reactors watch it too. I’ve lost count! So excited for season 2!
The show came out in 2022 boss. I actually think they managed to get season two out in an impressive amount of time considering they no longer had the benefits of shooting during Covid and the entire writer strike that felt like it lasted nearly a full year. Plus, shows of this prestige with this amount of effort put into them tend to take time because they’re just labors of love. If you think this is bad, imagine being a fan of Euphoria on HBO lmao
It’s been nearly 3 years since I finished this show. And season 2 is coming out mid January? You guys picked the perfect time to watch this absolutely fantastic series
Something to keep in mind: The brother-in-law's book is cringe to us in part because we're adults and it's stating obvious facts. But for the innies, it's all new... because they're basically children. Something emphasized a few times in the show.
I agree, but the book isn't just stating obvious facts, he says some really idiotic (and incorrect) things ("What does camaraderie mean? Most linguists agree it comes from the Latin 'camera,' which means 'a device used to take a photograph'"). It's meant to be as ridiculous and full of aphorisms as the bible of Kier, but acting as a foil to it.
The happiness yall gave me when you said "the best reaction we've had"! I have been waiting for you guys to see this episode the minute yall announced this show and it was even better than I imagined. Love you guys.
This episode is an absolute masterclass of tension and release. So many great scenes in this episode but my favorite scene of the show is helly reciting the break room speech to herself in the mirror. It never fails to send shivers down my spine. It’s a beautiful and tragically ironic callback. Also I totally feel Roshi and Lupa.. mark finally getting the chance to find out the truth of Gemma and screaming “she’s alive” always makes me tear up
This is the best reaction series y’all ever have done. You even introduced new theories that I hadn’t even considered. Sheera is on some big brain thinking. Holy shit.
I knew you guys were going to freak out with episode 9. It’s probably the best 40 minutes of television ever. They kept ratcheting up the tension with every episode and then this finale is jaw-dropping. So intense and stressful. The shock to the audience and to innie Helly as one of our favorite protagonists discovers that her outtie is one of the main antagonists and has undergone the severance to write a propaganda book to promote the procedure. This episode is a masterclass in television production. The way it was shot with the camera floating through scenes, the way it was edited - bouncing between the four characters in their own situations, and creating maximum tension throughout. Ive been sitting on this cliffhanger for 2 years, trying to imagine where it goes from here. Is Helena mostly going to be the villain in season 2? I suspect Mark’s sister is going to step forward as a more prominent character as she now knows that a lumen employee has infiltrated her home and Mark’s innie said his wife was alive. She’s not going to just brush off those two facts. I suggest you rewatch the end of episode 8 as Dylan is scrolling through the security computer commands before he selects “overtime continuum.” There are a bunch of additional program protocols that Lumen can execute. The names of those programs are concerning to say the least! Severance is one of the best series ever!
I really think the Helly in real life is being manipulated and coerced by her father. Or has been through some trauma. Cause her innie is sooo defiant! Its as if thats how she feels deep down. And her father seems crazy crazy IRL so its interesting to theorise
I mean she’s basically set to inherit the throne of the Eagans too so even without any trauma it could just be family influence or selfishness to explain why her outie would want to push for it, the possibilities are still so open which is so cool
That's why I like all these Severance reactions. It's the closest I can get to experiencing the show for the first time again. This one was a particularly satisfying one.
I dropped severance when it was released but gave it another try 'cause you guys started reacting to it and now I am almost dying of anxiety waiting for the second season... I can feel the pain from those who watched it 3 years ago and had to wait all that time after this cliffhanger lol
There were so many people in the comments of the Season 2 trailer saying that Mark's situation is gonna get twisted to just be him shouting that about the baby being okay, but thankfully for this reaction and personally rewatching the season, we see Mark running *with* the picture of him and Gemma plus the baby had been found and returned to his sister by that other dude right before he comes running with the picture. So there's legit no way they can mistake what he means when he snaps back to his outie self. This second season is going to be absolutely insane.
your reactions to severance have been the most entertaining i've seen! i feel validated lol because i sat like that myself too when i first watched it. that whole final ep is so tense all the way through and to end it like that makes me cry every damn time. looking forward to your s2 reactions in just a few weeks!!
Really loved the crazy reaction. That was my sister’s and my reaction 3 years ago and the wait is so fking agonizing This is the best season 1 finale I’ve ever watched among all TV shows. Can’t wait for your season 2 reactions next month
Mark's situation was actually super fucked it's like he got dropped in the middle of traffic. Imagine waking up point blank with your boss who's apparently involved with the life of your outtie? He's like Light being told by L, "I am L" in Deathnote. He has to pretend he doesn't know her and identify someone to trust
Watching 3 brains literally melt as the episode went on thats exactly how everyone else reacted upon watchin this masterpiece......boom!! without doubt the single most best reaction video 👏 on to season 2!
The reasons why it took 3 years for season 2. They started shooting season 2 6 months after season 1 finale. They filmed 7 episodes before the writer's strike in 2023. After the strike, they started filming the last 3 episodes in 2024 and wrapped up shooting in May 2024. All was left is post production and marketing.
Hello! I’m a huge severance fan & reactions like these have helped me get through this three year hiatus. This is one of the best ones I’ve seen thus far. Fun fact: during year one or two of the hiatus the writers strike was happening so we didn’t even know if we would get a season 2 at all 🙌🏽 There’s a snippet & w full trailer of season 2 out & apparently the first 8 minutes are out (which I don’t plan on watching, I’ve waited this long I can wait a lil longer). But yeah I’m obsessed with this show. Helly is basically the same personality type on the inside as she is on the outside, she’s very stubborn, determined to get what she wants , bold, outspoken (except they’re fighting for opposite causes of course). Much like how Irv is a zealot on the inside for Kier, but on the outside he’s zealous about figuring out what’s going on with Lumon (I think he’s for sure been reset at some point) in the episode b4 this they show his outie grabbing a cup of coffee b4 he goes to paint the testing floor, his outie is purposely sacrificing sleep so that his innie will doze off & dream of what he (his outie) paints every night. Aw man there’s a lot to say about Irving
I figured this episode was gonna be a cliffhanger but I didn't care lol. I was literally yelling "Please. Please. Please" when Mark saw the photo because I really needed him to tell somebody, ANBODY his wife is alive. My anxiety was through the roof this ep
now after you're done with season 1, time to read The Lexington Letter! It's a free and a very short canon companion piece that goes with Severance, in which one severed Lumon worker wrote to a journalist talking about their job. It's not much, I got more questions than answers after finishing it, but adds a bit to the story! It's available online!
In an episode full of great moments, one of my favorites is Helly's apology. It brings back a relatively minor part of the overall season when you least expect it, and gives it new meaning, while also building your respect for a character you had already grown attached to. And Britt Lower fucking nailed the delivery of someone who "means it".
I'm surprised you guys weren't surprised about Irvin's outtie like I was. His innie in the beginning of the show was loyal to Kier and a stickler to the rules, but his outtie was the complete opposite by trying to take down Lumon lol.
I think his outtie’s military history mirrors his loyalty (assuming he and his dad both served), he probably was a vigilant rule follower outside too. Curious to learn more about his motives and objectives. Reminds me of how Helly on the inside is basically the same person but in a completely different context, still an uncompromising and determined person but a freedom fighter instead of a dictator 😂
Irving's outie constantly drinks coffee, which causes his innie to become extremely tired all the time, as we've seen in past episodes, like how Dylan was bantering Irving about his slow cognitive response. Possible reasons for this: Irving is trying to remember small details of innie thoughts to continue the investigation of Lumon, by keeping his innie brain tired, he can possibly vividly remember what innie sees inside the department and continue his investigation by trying to connect dots. He basically turned his innie into his inside man job.
All these years of reactions, this was the best one yet! When I watched the season finale myself, I felt my reaction was more human than it ever did lol. Can't wait for season 2 ❤
i f'n love you guys so much this reaction was priceless! I think it comes second to your demon slayer reaction though i think it was the big sound ninja episode where everything popped off.
