Romanian is a latin language after the Romans deafeted Dacia and then The Romanization process happened, when the latin language came, Romania having the majority of its words from Latin.
The Slavic influence is kinda 50/50, because there is Rep. Of Moldova that is a Russian speaking country, and forming new words in the Moldavia region, not in the rest of the country.

In the context that was used it can be translated as the feeling of missing someone. However, "saudade" is a word with a complex meaning which could represent a mixture of loss, grief, love or even nostalgia. As far as I know, it doesn't have a translation in any other language and to be honest portuguese people are kinda proud of it :)

I once read that because of that, dor is a defining feeling of the Romanian people (total bs if you ask me).
