Yes you are very loved Nicholas and bring a great joy and teach us all to slow down and appreciate our families and friends and enjoy simple living.
You've some big decisions to make about where you're going to live but I'm sure everything will fall into place for you. I love the country but I've been born to it and am a farmer now and also much older then you but I must say I had a brilliant time when I lived in London in my early 20s but you know Nicholas it's not actually a place I met anyone to go out with. I had to come home to Ireland and back to home base before I met anyone I wanted to go out with. Funny isn't it and all the millions of people in London.

I think your outlook for 2023 is an excellent one. Last Christmas I lost my mother. It has been a difficult year. So this year I have set no resolutions or goals, I chose a word instead. Pause. I am going to surround myself with those people and things I love . Creativity , simplicity, and beauty and of course family. Positive thoughts for 2023 ! Nicholas thank you.

How nice to see you back again. As you were taking down the Christmas tree, I was thinking how nice that you decided on the wall art of Edinburgh. It was the perfect choice. And if you do decide to move, please give us some walking tours of Edingburgh before you go. I hope you stay. I think it's a beautiful city. I loved the National Art Gallery especially. And at 84 (soon 85), I still have tons of goals every new year. I never finish them (and never expect to), but I do so much more than if I just had a few which I could easily accomplish. Nice to have you back, Nicholas. 2023 has me moving into a new home at the end of January, revisiting an old career and rescheduling a rail-trip through England and Scotland my husband and I planned back in 2020. This year is a rebirth.

I don't make New Year's Resolutions, but I do design mindful intentions and prayers, as I know that my source in life all comes from God who is my Heavenly Father and He loves me and blesses me so much. I've had a most excellent year in 2022, and I have thanked God deeply because He never stops blessing me, and I have decided to give Him all of my fears and doubts. I have big new dreams & goals, and this year's intention is to go forth with courage and boldness, even if I am scared of my dreams since they are quite big...they are mine, and I can do it because God put those hopes and dreams in my heart. I'm going for it! 2023 is my best year yet ~ Thanks and praise be to God! ❤
I love this expectation /no expectations and maybe attitude. I do like to go back home after vacations, you could live anywhere, but as you mentioned, since transportation are not reliable, I don't think the country side is the ideal for your lifestyle. You can always visit the country side, because rainy days are extremely long when you live by your own in the middle of nowhere

Good to see you back. I’m glad you and Sophie had a pleasant stay in London. You’ve got me intrigued about Jamie Oliver’s new cookbook. Most recipes seem to serve 4-6 and when you live alone that isn’t ideal. You end up getting tired of eating the same thing for several days, it goes bad or you have to freeze it. Your current home is so lovely. Everything has its special place. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision whether to stay or go.

i think you should stay in Edinburgh. i just love what you’ve showed of it, great shops, wonderful apartment that is affordable, you’ve made friends, a wonderful life. i’d love to visit there one day. it’s a nice adventure to travel to your family and to London. a young person needs a city, as nice as the countryside is.

I find comfort in your approach, I'm not a particularly social person, but its great to see someone that loves special and beautiful things, I was raised amongst exquisite things, and it makes me feel happy to see another who enjoys these beautiful rituals and acts, it makes it a pleasure to arrive home! The Langham looks delightful; you stay in the finest of accommodations. We've taken down our Christmas things as well. It's a bitter sweet joy cleaning up, as one wants to hold on to the tangible memories as long as possible. Some of my wife's family had Christmas meals with us, and she delighted us with her cooking. It was very cold here in Canada 🇨🇦 over the holidays; thankfully, it has warmed considerably.; it is funny that you mentioned your Mom complaining about heating costs, as heating costs have doubled here. Otherwise, the Christmas Season was wonderful. Please do include us in your Birthday Celebrations in January.

Interesting to hear you talk about Moving. My husband is from Bristol and so I moved to be with him and have lived in the city for 23 years. We have decided that this is the year we take the plunge and move to Shropshire where my family live. We are busy preparing to put our house on the market. We haven't decided yet on the area we will move to, but it's very exciting if not a little scary. Do what makes you feel happy while you can 🧡

i was about to say wow the tree held up well when i remembered it was artificial! great tree, it looked beautiful. tip for candle storage: wrap in plastic wrap individually, and store together in a zip top plastic bag. you can turn them to opposite ends and wrap snugly so they keep
their shape during hotter months. darker colors can bleed color onto the drawer lining, so always wrap to store, even if you have a box.
Keep candles in freezer. They burn longer too.

Yes you after right re making most of life. We bought an apartment in Sunny Queensland to spend the cold winter of Tasmania there. So 6 months in Queensland's winter which is beautiful and 6 months back in Tasmania in the summer. Warm weather 12 months of year now.
Taking down Xmas decor and cleaning everything is always a chore. I always miss all the beautiful color, lights and greenery but am happy to start the New Year. Welcome home and a wonderful start to your New Year.

As regards myself I will be retired this summer with my husband, hoping it will be near a Loire château but we don t exactly know where we will find a new home to live but it will be a surprise, we have many places we like. We would like to live in the country to be peaceful but with some transports, bus or railways and not to far cultural points at the same time. A lot of perspective ! Happy New Years, welcome back. Like you I have OCD about leaving out holiday decorations. I put on an audio book and take my time of breaking down the tree and wrapping all my ornaments in paper towels to prevent chipping and keeps the dust off. When I put away my special holiday China/glasses I wash them and wrap them in paper towels. When I go to use them again it saves me a step of cleaning and setting up my table. I do enjoy your adventures in Edinberg and would miss you filming from there. Relocating is overwhelming take your time I'm sure you'll choose wisely.

Thinking of that cookbook purchase…it reminds me of cooking with Julia Child. Have you seen the film Julia Julia. It about A young person who cooks 1 recipe a day from her cookbook starting with page 1, as it’s designed to teach & tackle culinary skills, starting with basic & gradually gets more difficult as you move through the book with the most challenging at the end. Completion is like completing professional courses at the famous Cordon bleu chef school. The film shows 1 persons attempt/journey is very entertaining. I’m going to treat myself to another watch on this very rainy day.

Happy New Year! Welcome back from beautiful Staffordshire. Good luck with your decision-making process - your excellent attitude will come in handy in the new year. Congratulations on your hamper - such a lovely gift and how nice of the Jamie Oliver team to think of you this Holiday Season. As I, too, live alone, I will have to look for the featured cookbook and accompanying pan. Like you, I hate to waste food and like to keep things in the kitchen as simple as possible, so both will be a good investment for the comping year, and, I hope, help me eat healthier. Thank you for all that you do for the community. You are such a lovely soul.
I plan on painting more and being “More Present” meaning less time on my phone. I have gone from 8 hours a day,on my device, to 3 to 2 hours. I MUST say that it was very hard at first. Hope your Year is filled with many Blessings, Nicholas!!
