This is one of the greatest Suzuka laps, if not the greatest Suzuka lap, ever. He is so good in the first sector, it almost defies Physics how he balances the brake and throttle and makes the car change direction.
I agree. There was a other angle of turn 1 of his commitment speed. Sector 1 at Suzuka and sector 3 at Albert Park were Schumi specials
In the long left hander after the Esses, the steering wheel is pretty much straight. Amazing
@@n00bspanker The 2001 cars looked and sounded like the F1 game. They were visually faster to look at. 2002 would be the last year of the natural rules, before FIA started to mess with things in 2003 onwards to slow or trip up Michael and Ferrari.
😂😂😂😂 🤦🏻♂️

Ladies & Gentlemen, here we have the golden era of F1. When racing was pure. I still Miss Michael - my hero when I was young ❤
Le bon vieux temps. La bagarre entre Hakkinen et Schumacher aux qualifs sur ce même circuit en 2000.
Raikkonen avait aussi le sens de l'attaque en 2004/2005
@@TheFuckingDestroy i dont understand french 🫤 sry
The way he hits the apex with 100% accuracy at 1.23 by smoothly sliding into the corner is just beautiful.
agree
He was 0,7s faster than P2!! He managed to get a 0,87s gap onto he's team mate. Incredible lap for that time!
Schumacher had a completely new chassis just for suzuka. Better construction, lighter etc. Poor rubens stuck with older chassis lol
@@schuey2003 Yeah, hat's why he had 11 poles in 2001...
He had like 3 pole lap times that qualifying session. It was amazing
He gained a lot of time in the first sector I believe. He really drove very smoothly in these Esses, not rubbing a lot of speed. By the way, the car seems really difficult to drive as it's so twitchy.
@@mrdraw2087 No, that was just the way Schumacher drove. He just liked oversteery cars that would rotate faster by having a controlled oversteer and rotating not only with steering inputs, but with weight transfer and throttle inputs. Schumacher was so skilled at sliding and rotating the car that he had a significantly higher corner speed than all of his teammates. If you look at onboards of Rubens, his car looks settled, stable and understeery. Rubens is basically waiting until his car has rotated while Schumacher is avtively rotating his car by having a lively rear. The disadvantage was that Schumacher's driving style was very demanding on his cars and tires. That's why Ferrari built cars with an ideal weight balance (therefore smaller fuel tank), shorter stints and soft tires. The car was built around Schumacher's driving style and Bridgestone provided soft tires with a wide operational window. I notice that a lot of people think Schumacher is fighting with his cars or that his cars were unstable both of which aren't true. He flowed with his cars and that was just normal for him. That is because today, we don't see any of that liveliness in F1 cars. All F1 cars are settled and all drivers prevent any kind of sliding. Pirelli has such nimble tires that they can overheat within a few corners if you push them like Schumacher pushed his cars back then. Since Pirelli has entered F1, such a driving style became impossible which is a shame because F1 has become a game of how to manage tire temps, clean driving and minimising physical wear. None of those drivers are pushing cars to the absolute limit. It's all about preventing any overheating. People therefore today don't realise why everybody in F1 was so mesmerised by Schumacher at that time and think that there must be something wrong (twitchy, fighting his car etc.).
Tremendous onboard shot from Michael's Ferrari.
Well over the 190 mph mark at 130R but still good enough for P1.
That is the one I've been searching for years.
I think it's one of his best quali lap, insane commitment!
Same!
Flatout at old 130R, insane
demonized 1998
130R was challenging until 2003 when they redesigned it.
Old 130R was way better than today
@@beazywhite7537 it is but its so dangerous for motorcyle
Old 130R pretty much looks like you're gonna die if something goes slightly wrong. It looked amazing tho
That is one of the best laps you will ever see. He has absolutely blown everyone to bits.
Through 130R and the speed trap, he went through the corner TWENTY miles per hour faster than Alex Yoong and Thomas Enge, who were taking part in the same race. Its just outrageous.
not like those drivers had backmarker cars oh no
flat into T1.. first man to do so. finally this incredible lap is back on youtube.
Schumacher Ferrari 10 anni... Leggenda... Infinita.. Grazie Schumy
No one did or does the first sector in Suzuka as good as the great Michael Schumacher
Senna, he was better with lesser tech. Check yourself
@@hernan3854 the 1993 cars are arguably the most technologically advanced F1 cars of all time 'did it without any tech' don't speak out of your arse
Hamilton 2017 lap, goosebumps
Xbox Player todays v6 cars are on rails compared to these 2001 cars. If you’re gonna go by today, vettel’s pole is ridiculously smooth.
@@hernan3854 no he is overrated. check yourself
The sense of speed that a combination of a twitchy car, an unstabilized camera, and plain ol Suzuka produces is exhilarating!
It certainly conveys the violent force of an f1 car much better than todays on board footage!
This is such a beautiful lap, that whirr of the engine as it runs the straight 😍
Simply the best ..
curious fact: this was the first time gerhard berger pole position time from 10 years earlier was beat (the suzuka layout was still the same). just shows how fast f1 was even in the early 90's
1991 was the last year of qualifying tyres too
The great Micheal Schumacher going through 130R flat out in a 3.0 lite V10 Ferrari is just magical
and this is the old 130R. Where only men could go flat-out
@@vonPelgerabsolutely my friend
This was fast even for Schumi.
Insane entry speed at turn 1 !
The absolute goat
Just with Michael you would be touching the limits . Great , unforgettable MS.
What a lap from the Red Baron...
I love Suzuka. My favorite circuit.
1 Spa
2 Monza
3 Monte Carlo
4 Silverstone
5 Suzuka
Miss him..
Unbelievable bottle, nerves of steel, a brave man. Then gets taken out in a ski - ing accident going 30+ mph. Incredible twist of fate. Hope you make a full recovery one day Michael🇬🇧⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Even in his come back in 2010, 2011 and 2012, he did well at Monaco, Spa and Suzuka for the car he was in. He was a Imola and magny cours specialist to, wish they kept those tracks for him. Also wish Spa was in the 2006 season, as he was taken out by Sato in 2005. He could of done with Spa in 2006. Hungary he was a specialist to.
Spa 2005, i remember that time schumi met Sato after been taken out , he was so angry to Sato.
Don't forget Hungaroring.
Che spettacolo Michel Sciumacher 💪👏👍🏎❤🔴
I wish RUclips could tell me how many times have I watched this piece of greatness.... And mean this particular one!
INSANE
Such a quick lap even with the low grip grooved tyres and narrow front suspension.
Beautiful
oh man... the sliding at Spoon... commitment 100%
Music!!! Music!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Just exceptional : especially if you consider that the title was already in the bag, and he beat... his previous time. I remember this session he destroyed all the others
Last F1 2001 season was Broadcasted in Indonesian television RCTI
"Mega Mega Michael" "Schumacher shatters the morale"
O maior de todos, que volta perfeita!
Era de ouro da F1
What is amazing is that his final time, was 1 tenth faster than the simulated absolute fastest time he was supposed to be able to do. GOAT
What a driver, and in race was capable to do the same things for the intere time with a car a lot harder to driving.
"a lot harder to drive"
lol. The car on that time has some driving aids - Traction control, launch control, automatic/pre-programmed gearshift and the tyres on that time migh actually better than the current one.
Still tho, Michael really send it.
@@mArvAlcao71 true but for all the drivers, not only for Michael, so the things doesn't change. Also, the drivers of that time was more tired at the and of the race, becouse the cars was more hard to driving for an intere gp..
Despite a tiny mistake at the Spoon that slowed his exit quite considerably...
It's called a correction, mid corner too. It's also what made watching him live,at trackside or televised magically entertaining
Maestro
glory days
I was 5 days old when this qualy lap was set...
I remember watching this live on tv, maaann i miss the V10’ abd i miss my hearo Schumi, time flys by sooooo fast in life 😢
insane speed...
To reference of the speed in 2024. Max his pole lap was a 1:28,197 and Zhou (p20) a 1:30,143. But the sounds are so much better.
i will forever love the camera glitches
Damn, how he's punching the limit track 😯😯 Michael was a bloody talented driver, and this sound.. I still do love formula 1 but music is not the same 😭
cant believe how fast he was on this track!
Turn 8..... Absolutely flat out!!!
🐐
This is how F1 driving should look and sound.
A lion amongst men
we can argue about the best era of F1 but no one can argue this era had the best sound
17810-17810-17810 -> SNIPER
THATS SO FUCKING FAST
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Here again in December 2022.
I love how in the hairpin I was thinking, man he's really lugging the engine. Looks at tach 7000rpm...what!
Michael was on Pole by 0,700 seconds. Seven tenths! You don't need a stopwatch to tell 0,7 sec in Formula 1, you need to make an appointment for that.
0:06 green ferrari
alemao era foda
0:32 the commentator also surprised when he did on that turn 😂

Almost 4sec quicker than Alonso on that quali lap. Amazing
That is one pointy front end.
Such a talent to F1!
If i could drive like that with clear roads id be at work in 4 mins.
I was comparing this lap against Lewis Hamilton in 2017 which is 1.27.xx. What a evolution, specially in the corners.
Hamilton is having a far easier time

perfection, but it seems to me that 0:43 was bit out of ideal line, or was it?
Main thing on that corner is to get the nose turned around for a good exit, since there's more straight after it than before. Late apex is on purpose.

Nice lap but with probably the easiest to drive F1 car ever made..
