This vid was ridiculously helpful even in 2020. I added new boards today and the switch between boards and pegs made my boots no longer fit. I was worried I was going to have to drop another 150+ on heel toe shifters, but it's amazing how much knowing how to properly adjust your bike can save you.
Bro, no freaking way😅😅😅😅 After spending a bunch of money on Shift Rods that didn’t work for a HONDA Shadow Phantom 2015 This 8yo video worked…. THANK YOU !🙏 subbed !
Dude your a star. I made the footboards from your other video and then needed to check out this video so I could adjust the shifter. Thanks again mate for giving your time on making these video's to help others out. And as always ride safe and take it eass 😆
thanks for this video.. my wife bought new floor boards for her m50 and of course she couldn't get her boot up under the shifter... well she can now....kudos
It's 2021 and I stumbled across this video. My question is, if the shifter is too far for a short person, can I use this same method to, make it to a much more reasonable distance. (SO the person can actually reach the shifter) lol
Anyone know how to get the clutch lever a little closer to the handle? Its too far out for comfort. I see people get a clevver but thats not an option for me.
May I ask you this since you have this part off right here? If a heel an toe has a little slop like movement right to left "Would that make neutral harder to engage. Worked fine then other day no neutral but I also have play with the whole lever since it's one piece
@@bernbo I managed to make the adjustment without turning the rod or jam nuts by rotating the leaver on the splined shaft. It was easy. I saw a video where the the guy was saying turn them up to loosen them. May be true but I didn't want to risk it.
Love the videos! could you possibly make a short video of how to remove/replace the a Gear Shifter. Mine is identical to your bike with the toe/heal. mine is extremely loose. need to find out how to replace or adjust to make shifter tighter. Many Thanks
Yours will be exactly the same as my bros, at the 1:40 part you can tighten the bolt on the shifter to the spline. If that doesn't work you might be able to put a small shim to take up the slack. The previous owner of this bike removed the 650 Classic heel toe set up and put on the 650 Custom setup. Hope this helps you out.
+Bernbo Thank you for the response. the play in mine is actually Left/Right. Is a little up and down. However its bad left/right. I just dont know how to remove the shifter to see if its hogged out inside. :/
+Bernbo If I could send you a video I would. its causing me to have issues shifting. but im trying to avoid a replacement. Do you ever have/had issues with your bike falling into neutral on the downshift from 2 to 1. And i have to release clutch and back in to go to 1 at stops
No I haven't had any issues like that, not sure what's going on there. here is a link that might help mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/19411/motorcycle-transmission-occasionally-pops-out-of-gear I wish I could help you out more.
Sooo I bought a victory v92 sport cruiser And I am trying to go from forward controls back to stock because of a back injury and legs forward is to painful .. I have the stock part and when i went and bolted everything up it wont stay in first and wont shift up past neutral Any advise
That's really strange, I'm sorry man I really dont have an answer for you. Maybe try and set it back up the way it was again and see if it works, you may see what is causing the issue.
@@bernbo Soon as I started taking everything apart I was like man i should take a photo of everything..Especially which direction the toothed end of the linkage is orientated to the shifter nipple ( not sure what it's called but nipple works for me ALWAYS ) Any how ...I didnt do that

My 2007 1100 Classic has a heal/toe shifter. Works great. Took awhile to get use to it having had this type for years.

Your I life saver. Had the same problem, bought some new riding boots and couldn't fit my foot under. Suprised how easy of a fix this is.
Right on Kendall, happy to hear the video helped out. Cheers🍻
Thank you for this! It's impossible to shift on my Suzuki Intruder VS1400, have to use the lip of my sole and it slips all the time.
Thank you Bernbo, very much!!

Thanks joe...
Is it necessary to remove the push rod if you're just going to rotate a tooth or two on the spline?
That's a nice Yamaha cruiser.
Anyone know how to get the clutch lever a little closer to the handle? Its too far out for comfort. I see people get a clevver but thats not an option for me.
Thanks again for the adjustment! It's always easier when someone else does the work. LOL

No that shouldn't make a difference, there is a little bit of play in there normally. My 1100 is the same way.
so simple, really helpful vid, thanks...
I bought the 4 inch control extensions for my 1100 and had to do about that same thing. Great vid man and to quote you.. Take it ease :)
Right on bro, it was an easy fix to a pain in the butt scenario, just wished we did it before the ride lol.
good video..I love my heal and toe sifter it work well...lol
Nice video Berni, such a simple job it's not worth struggling with one that's wrong for you! RSMF.
Is the rear rod's jam nut a right hand thread? I could see that the front jam nut is a left hand thread.
Man it's been awhile yes the nuts are opposite if I'm not mistaken. Good eye bro. Just be cautious to not go to hard.
