That's why Mick installed Kelley Hanson because he had to find someone that could sound somewhat like Lou Gramm or he would'nt be able to call the band Foreigner anymore
At first I thought this sounded too good to be live however if you listen closely you can hear the microphones feeding back at some of the stops so you know its the real deal! Especially noticeable at the beginning drum roll of 'Double Vision' from the same 78 Rainbow show if you get the Blu Ray. Totally awesome!
Not only should they be in the Hall of Fame, But so should Judas Priest. Any band that got in before or after Black Sabbath should have Included Foreigner & Judas Priest. The hall is a Joke.
I remember when they came out with 'I want to know what love is'. I thought, "What the heck is that?!" I listened to Foreigner for Hot Blooded, Head Games, Urgent, Juke Box Hero, etc... They just drove off of a cliff for me.
@42lookc I mean they had Waiting for a Girl Like You, which is three years earlier than I Want to Know..., and they only had like 3 ballads. The rest of their hits are still rockers.
Love how Lou wears jeans and a t-shirt. No front man vanity. Then he belts out those high notes and delivers his gorgeous phrasing. Lou kicked butt! Awesome that they shot this concert on beautiful 35mm film.
Dennis Elliott…a name that clearly doesn’t get enough mention. Maybe it’s cuz I’m a bass player….but the drums are the first thing I immediately recognize in any outfit. He is an exceptional drummer and that’s an understatement.
Boston and Foreigner were my favorites. I'm 62 and I can still feel like I'm at one of their concerts in the late 70's. Still have their 1978 World Tour T-shirt!
Well heard Foreiner growing up,many good songs w Lou's golden voice.I can now hear that they sounded really good live.Lou doesn't go off the script oversinging and sing poorly like many pop/rock singers.Tight.
Meh...Doesn't really take talent....It actually helps to keep tension out of your face and jaw which can help you sing correctly. I used to do it all the time when I didn't know how to sing correctly
Early Foreigner has always been a favorite of mine! The video quality is outstanding for being filmed in 1978! The audio quality is quite good, as well!
I H AVE THE DVD FANTASTIC IMAGE_SOUND WHAT A LEAD SINGER- DRUMMER !!!! GUITARIST an d all the band!! the bass sounds lound the keyboard is vintage !! big sound IT S GREATTTTTTTTTT
Keen rock drumbeats, guitar effects to even scare KISS right to their knees, and a great chorus that gives the song its great "hook" - that is why I loved "Hot Blooded".
That song knocked "Cold As Ice" out of the number one column as far as my list of favorite "Foreigner" songs. I call it my no. 1 Foreigner song - I was 8 when this song was released.
Gramm forgets the words on the last pre chorus. You can see just an instant of oops realization, just the tiniest moment, then he recycles the lyrics from the first time, with even more passion. Rock and roll.
This THE lineup that should have stayed together. Maybe more conversations along with some compromise with Al, Ed, and Ian could have kept them in the band. RIP Ed.
This is Great! There is so little concert footage of Foreigner Live back in their Prime! They waited this long to finally release this? This should have been released a year or two after this excellent show! Oh well, better late than never as the saying goes! Thanks for the upload so I can see a little of this ahead of time!
I also heard "Hot Blooded" in their non-radio edit version and as a musician myself, what typically happens in their outro to their song was they do their final power chord, G5, with 2 distinct blows - but here in this video - only 1 distinct blow. Did not expect this but that's Foreigner......they can do whatever they want in their songs.....
Saw Foreigner their maiden trip through Oakland, CA at Day on the Green circa ‘77. Best band there, so real and fun for all! Sad to see the Horns go on subsequent tours but that sounds like a cost cutting measure. Sad too, made them special. Saw Double Vision, missed Horns. But no doubt Mick, Lou is the “True” frontman..........what a Voice.
One of the greatest bands ever this is what great music sounds like not how some of the bands are now days musis like this and neil young and a few other bands is music like it should be
Only Lou Gramm is the true voice of Foreigner forever. The rest can be a tribute band
That's why Mick installed Kelley Hanson because he had to find someone that could sound somewhat like Lou Gramm or he would'nt be able to call the band Foreigner anymore
@@henryhueffed4904Hansen is a great vocalist.

Without a doubt, Foreigner SHOULD be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The HOF proves itself to be a joke year after year!
that would be a horrible insult to foreigner. rush and everyone else should have declined induction to that sewer.
Not only should they be in the Hall of Fame, But so should Judas Priest. Any band that got in before or after Black Sabbath should have Included Foreigner & Judas Priest. The hall is a Joke.
A JOKE NO DOUBT,LOU GRAMM IS THE MIC KING,THE HALL HAS NO PLACE IN IT FOR THE LIKES OF LOUIS ANDREW GRAMMATICO,HE DOMINATES
Foreigner and let's add Jethro Tull to the list also!
Nigbama's in
Lou Gramm is one of the best rock vocalists ever. Even in their 1993 reunion concert at Deer Creek, he sounds better than the record!
He is the best!
How can Lou chew gum and sing so well at the same time? I love you Lou❤️❤️❤️
Foreigner was such a straight up ballsy Rock band in the 70's and early 80's. What they would become later was kind of a shame.
I remember when they came out with 'I want to know what love is'. I thought, "What the heck is that?!" I listened to Foreigner for Hot Blooded, Head Games, Urgent, Juke Box Hero, etc... They just drove off of a cliff for me.
@@42lookc same for Chicago...from 25 or 6 to 4 to If you leave me now...

That was rockstar style in the late 70s early 80s
This was back when talent was what mattered, not costumes and multi-million dollar stage productions
YES fantastic phrasing
The original Foreigner is head and shoulders above any of the other versions. The tempos of the songs are correct. It just sounds right.
That live version should get a lot of views
Lou Gramm is so good live he sounds better than the record! Amazing!
Dennis Elliott…a name that clearly doesn’t get enough mention. Maybe it’s cuz I’m a bass player….but the drums are the first thing I immediately recognize in any outfit. He is an exceptional drummer and that’s an understatement.
Presley, Mercury, Plant, Gramm, Perry, Rogers. My top 6, in that order.
I'd replace Presley with Daltrey!
Rogers nr 1
BALLS TO THE WALLS ROCK AND ROLL ONLY FROM THE 70s!!!!
No doubt about it this live version is totally HOT!
Dennis Elliot is on point with some very interesting kick drum work, one bad ass drummer and band!
young. strong. 'In his Prime'. Something to behold..... Hail the Original FOREIGNER Lineup.
Well said and spot on my friend Hail to the original Foreigner👍😊
Wow! Lou’s Voice dominates the whole show! He is that good!
Jones with some nice peanut butter crunch from that Les Paul.
Yes I agree bc I jam to the lyrics and the music then his voice or her
@@Twotontessie Oh yeah man....Jones just killed it on that lead....Brilliant.
Beautiful, beautiful voice with so much feel and soul.
Lou had one the best rock 🪨 voices! They are really rocking here!
Ian Mcdonald was a hottie. RIP Sweet Prince. 💓
Singing like that is completely exhausting. This is gold.
Great song, great band - in their prime they were excellent!
Boston and Foreigner were my favorites. I'm 62 and I can still feel like I'm at one of their concerts in the late 70's. Still have their 1978 World Tour T-shirt!
That drummer is outstanding. Studio recording held him back
The Pavarotti of Rock. That operatic tone.
Rock n Roll at its highest level.....Foreigner Live.....
Well heard Foreiner growing up,many good songs w Lou's golden voice.I can now hear that they sounded really good live.Lou doesn't go off the script oversinging and sing poorly like many pop/rock singers.Tight.
What a voice!
Lou is such a babe ♥️ god how I love him ♥️
LOU is the BEST!!!!
This concert was on the King Biscuit Flower hour. It's nice to see the video. I wish the whole concert was available
The whole concert is on Blu-ray/DVD. I bought it, and it was worth every penny. Amazing energy of the original band.
The original band rocked hard ❤️
when concerts were only about the music
Lou Gramm is freakin' amazing!! One of the best ever!!
Great Song by a Great Band
Chewing gum and singing at the same time.....talent.
And he's chewing on key.
Hell yeah. That was pretty cool.
Meh...Doesn't really take talent....It actually helps to keep tension out of your face and jaw which can help you sing correctly. I used to do it all the time when I didn't know how to sing correctly
Dave Grohl
What a crack up ! At least he's happy, and confident he's not gonna choke on his gum!
Lou Gramm is Foreigner for ever
Lou Gramm personified '70's and '80's rock
Almost hit #1 on Billboard. Peaked at #3. "Double Vision" peaked at #2.
Early Foreigner has always been a favorite of mine! The video quality is outstanding for being filmed in 1978! The audio quality is quite good, as well!
I wish this had come out sooner
Incredible!
If they ever do a movie about foreigner, James McAvoy has GOT to get it for Lou Gramm!
Or Jeremy Allen White
@@RayeRaye77Nah..
James McAvoy would be perfect to portray Lou in a movie.😊❤🎉
Lou "take no prisoners" Gramm...WOW what a great live performance...Go Lou!! Band is crankin!! Man, takes me back to when I was 17 years old!
good ole days
Amazing!
No auto tune baby...this is rock at its best
AMAZING!!THAT IS THE REAL FOREIGNER!!!

golden vocals
That's INCREDIBLE live sound unless it was heavily touched up after the fact or something. Good heavens -- I'd hate to go onstage after these guys ...
Not touched up..this was live.
Saw them open for The Stones in 77 at JFK stadium in Philly...they came out with a full horn section.
Absolutely top vocals and rockin along nice and tight, here I go listening to them all night...yeah!
FOREIGNER TOP OF THE GAME,WITH THE KING OF THE MIC
Gramm forgets the words on the last pre chorus. You can see just an instant of oops realization, just the tiniest moment, then he recycles the lyrics from the first time, with even more passion. Rock and roll.
What a great concert Live at Rainbow 78❤
awesome!...Foreigner is a one of the best AOR's Band...terryfic' s vocal
Fantastic Lou Gramm!

Good lord that's a beautiful guitar tone.
Look at that. They're in their prime!
Now that's a damn rock show right there.
God I love RUclips......

Jammin.. even chewing gum while singing.
.... remember, back then, how Cool it was to chew gum? .... seems funny now, but it really was .... life was so much simpler ... and cooler!
Crunchy guitar. Sounds great. Excellent performance.
Freaking awesomeness 🤘🏻🤘🏻 wish I could have seen this lineup together wow they sound so great!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

In them days, you either fished or cut bait...
Music was made by those who could deliver!
Foreigner and the cars are my earliest memories of music in 78 at age of 5 , doesnt get any better
What a song and what a voice. And that LP Black Beauty sounds fine as wine.
All day long it’s just not enough,so I’m going to listen to them longer.🌷👆🌷🙌🙌👏👏♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🤪🤪
One of the greatest bands ever this is what great music sounds like not how some of the bands are now days musis like this and neil young and a few other bands is music like it should be
I ordered this just before it was released this week. Expecting it very soon (CD/Blu-ray). Can't wait! 😊
Kick ass.
HELLO LOU !!!!! YOU - the BEST 👍👍👍👍👍🔦🎙️🎤🎄🎄🎄🇺🇦 .
And they did that almost every night with as much energy for years! Amazing. BTW: what's Lou chewing n? :)
This live version sounds way better than the remastered version .
Sweet! Lou! defnitley at his peak right here

Brings back memories of me having fun in high school still awesome to hear
I have the original LP for this great group. They are really amazing!
Foreigner at their best
Y pensar que en el 78 tenía apenas 8 años y me estrené como abuela 👵... long live rock and roll🎸...
😊💜🎶 Classic!! 😊💜🎶
great performance and sound and image! i love the drummer here, unfortunately we barely see him.
