Guys, you stated in an earlier video that life gets busy. I watched this channel religiously when you all first started, I got away from it but in the past 3 days have watched all videos from the last 8 months. The progress you made with Harvey and then ladybird has been great to see! Truly in awe. You all are the reason I’ve undertook my camper project. I was also excited to see all the merch! Keep up the amazing work. Looking forward to the next video 10/10
@@retrorevivals we would be working i would be struggling to hold something heavy, for example, a sheet of drywall to the cieling, he would get a few screws in it, enough to hold it, look at me and say, you have been replaced by a screw! I use the phrase all the time now. Just like Tyler laying on the concrete under a camper holding a poop shield above his face as you are pouring screws on it. Then you get it in an boom.... you have been replaced by a screw!
I love the idea of being fully electric!! Such a fantastic idea instead of worrying about propane etc. Your videos always make me smile. Looking forward to seeing the evolution of the Rambler! Cheers! Lisa from Winnipeg ❤ 🇨🇦
Good call on the all AC. the power station tech is getting better every day. Solar panels on the roof to give you some recharge. I love the no propane thing, it just simplifies things.
So the trailer is going to be better than when it was new ! It’s great that y’all enjoy camping and I enjoy your videos. My wife and I are older and enjoy traveling, but at our age our idea of “roughing it” is a Holiday Inn or an Airbnb.
We got the ALLPOWERS R4000 last year. It was amazing on our Yellowstone rv trip for the coffee maker and air fryer. Our rooftop solar would fill it up while we drove so we were even able to run the rv fridge off it! We chose it because you can charge it with an EV charger. We're really happy with it!
That's great to hear! We just siliconed the roof so we'd likely have troubles getting the flexible panels to stick well but we love the idea of charging it while driving. That's great to be able to use an EV charger too!
Hey guys so excited to see a video out from y’all. You can definitely say when you’re done with Lady Bird that you’ve redone her from “Top to Bottom”, all the way to the dirty bottom🫣🥴🤪
Your channel is always a breath of fresh air…from this side anyhow! Love love how your family works together on these projects, you two keep me smiling 😂😊 Thank you for posting your adventures, I always enjoy this.
What better way to spend a Tuesday night than with the Retro Revivalists!! Lady Bird is starting to get her wings!! Jack's contribution with his Rivet to the poop deck holder was pretty clutch to this whole project coming together! You should be very proud of that boy and his poop deck holder rivet skills!! That's not to mention anything of the truck liner spraying skills, which are clearly stellar. Looking forward to this one continuing and seeing what further skills Jack can lend to giterdone!
It's truly such a beautiful thing to see all of you doing things as a family. The content is very interesting and I so much enjoy watching the family interaction. I'm even a bit jealous but in a good way ;-) I'm happy for you guys.
During a discussion about camping I was bragging on ya’ll! No one believed me when I shared your accomplishments! So I showed them your channel! Boom! 👍👍🙏
We have the luxury of editing out the parts where we talk about how bad our backs and knees hurt 😂. Really though, we're very fortunate. Thank you for watching!
I am so glad to see that you guys used a transfer switch for your "dual power" setup. I have heard too many horror stories of people connecting two inlets to each other and powering one or the other. that would make the exposed terminals in the inlet "live" and have the potential to "unalive" someone. P.S. I hope everyone noticed that the "30 amp" socket on the power bank says 20 amp MAX. All of the other outlets on that box are regular 20 amp sockets with a 20 amp rating. Still good to do the 30 A socket for the backup power in case you upgrade to a bigger unit that can put out true 30 amp. In short. Good work, as usual.
Haha, you know what's funny? We didn't notice that "30 amp" outlet said 20 amp until we watched it back. Oopsies. And, yes, originally we were thinking of just wiring both power sources into the breaker box but, yeah, didn't want to risk the unalive part 😬 Thanks so much for watching!
@@retrorevivals Yes, the way the first part was worded I was ready to comment, "wait, you can't do that, the open pins on the inlet will be live". I was relieved to see the transfer switch.
Another way to do it is to have the shore power socket inside a small compartment accessed by a hatch from the outside (with a notch for the cable) which is big enough to hold a short tail with a shore plug on it connected to the power pack which can be plugged in in place of the shore power cable. Less convenient but the problem with the auto transfer switch is if the supply bollard trips out for some reason you could be running on battery without knowing it until it runs out.
I know he’s not a license electrician, but can he give us some links on the videos that he looked at and learned his skills or give us a little tutorial class on how to wire things up like that please and thank you
Nice job on the black tank skid plate. I suggest you use PVC boards instead of wood for the part that the tank rests on. Just gives you some future proofing for a wet environment.
I like the idea for this camper of no 12 volt. Since you will mainly be at campgrounds, it is a good fit. The backup power supply should be a good option. I would still think that low draw led lights and appliances would be a key element of the final build.
Those exterior hatch catches work better if you grind a slight taper on the outside face of the locking rods to give a slight wedge action as they close to compress the hatch seal, and a spot of grease makes the action nicer. Similarly a slight twist in the centre catch plate.
Thanks for the encouragement! It's a slow process but she's getting there! We haven't started planning summer trips yet but should get on it before everything is booked up!
You need to get the plates that fasten to your wood where your wires go through the stud it will prevent you from putting a screw or nail into an electrical wire also they have shallow wall boxes you might have to get some for those walls
Just à Little suggestion the old furnace exhaust and air inlet should be capped off because like they are is like opening the door wide open and before you know it you have a wasps nest
Watching 2 weeks late. Unfortunately when this video came out, was on the date that my twin daughters were celebrating their birthday party & also the day their nanna died. I know all about AC/DC & High Voltage!
Happy birthday to your twins and sorry to hear about their nanna 😢 We've been struggling to get out there to work this winter but hopefully we'll get a new video out soon.
You should retighten all the high current terminals. Copper 'cold flows' when compressed. Otherwise, it looks good. I think you will need the extended batteries for the power station.
We're really hoping we can pull it off with 30. Most campgrounds around here just have 30 amp sites too. If we start popping breakers, we should be able to upgrade. Thanks for the comment!
Not sure about that company ALL POWERS, But Bluetti has one that will run your house that would be great for your garage. Gonna get cold in the garage how ya gonna heat it, GET a Wood stove going ❤
We're planning to insulate it (hopefully before winter) but we'll probably try kerosene heat to start. We're strongly considering battery and solar power for the whole barn!
Really enjoyed this video. I needed to know how to do my own installation of the power station. I bought a jackery 1000 watts and it works well for what I needed it for but I’m thinking the power station you installed would be enough to power all my appliances. I to have everything AC. I’m wondering if this would power my portable A/C unit. That’s my biggest pull of electric. I use the jackery when traveling to power my frig and lighting. It has solar panel also that I plan to mount on top of my van. If the solar panel for this power station would be compatible with my 100 watt panel, that would give me 300 watts of solar charging. What is the connector called that switches you from AC to the power unit you purchased from Amazon. Also did the power station come with cables to connect the solar panel? Thank you for all the help.
Hi there! We were able to power our Fogatti rooftop air conditioner with our slightly smaller power station so this one should definitely handle it. It will depend on your specific AC unit though. The transfer switch that we bought is this one - amzn.to/3ZQSyva. It's definitely needed if you want two AC power sources like we setup. I don't think it was the power station that came with the cables for solar, it was the solar panels they came with the cables. We're definitely not electrical experts but we're learning a lot as we go. Good luck with your project!
In campers, it's pretty commonplace that breaker boxes are stashed away in little compartments... Usually under the fridge or kitchen cabinets somewhere. We're pretty comfortable with it going there 😁

Camper water pumps are usually 12volt. I suppose you have a plan for that. Looking very nice.
Yes, we bought an AC water pump LAST November 😵💫
Shim for the win
Someone shared the idea to taper the ends... that might have been a better idea but, in this case, shims definitely for the win.

Flexabillyer?
I think the dictionary spells it flexibilier 😆
That rear exterior storage compartment door needs some weatherstripping on it.
Yes, we'll have to tinker with that a bit more. We maybe should have just left out painted shut 😬
Wow, lots of progress!! Always fun!

If you are going all ac, you should put in 50 amp. 30 amp won't be enough for air conditioning, cook top, fridge, lights, small appliances etc....
