The camper is looking great! I love the paint choices you made. I also love to see how Jack is starting to enjoy being on camera. It's so fun to watch him learn how to work on the campers as well as learn the video part of your channel.
It's looking gorgeous, and I LOVE the hubcaps! Totally brings out the vintage feel. If there's one thing I've learned in doing DIY renos, YOU are going to notice the little flaws more than anyone else. So Christy- SHUSH! If you hadn't said anything nobody would notice! LOL. (I get it, I'm the same way!!!) I love the Rambler- can't wait to see what you all do with the interior!
Ah-Mazing exterior! Gotta say I am impressed by your determination to find solutions. Great work as always. Looks like Jack will be ready to take on his own projects soon! ❤
I was so excited to see that you posted a new video. The exterior is just gorgeous; what a fabulous achievement getting it to look so good. And, it's great to see Jack helping and enjoying working on the camper. I always learn new English sayings on this channel.....Menagerie of craziness! I'll have to use that soon. Thanks so much!
Hi there. I have seen the complete process of your exterior refurbishing and in my opinion it looks great and the final result is perfect. Very very well done!! I will watch the next videos when you do the interior. Warm greetings from Germany 🇩🇪😎👍
Looks fantastic. I love watching your videos. Never enough or long enough. I like how Jack is getting involved in the process. Pretty soon he will be bringing old projects home. How cool parents and kids working together. Thank you for all your efforts in sharing the journey.
You guys are one of the most delightful channels on RUclips. No Question! Love your intelligent and quick wit, creativity, willingness to just go for it and share through the process. SUCH great content! And a beautiful family! I'm in Southern Kentucky on Lake Cumberland. If I lived in Michigan near you we would definitely be friends (not a stalker, no need to fear - lol). I'm rooting for you! 💪🤠
Thanks so much for the comment! Lake Cumberland sounds amazing! That's where all the Michigan people go to rent houseboats, right? We should haul old Harvey and a jet ski down there someday.
Wow. It is looking so awesome. You're doing a great job. We love your videos. Got your Dang Nab sticker today, and is now proudly displayed on our RV. 😊
Guys it looks Amazing!!!! Wow love the look of the outside, can’t wait for the inside!!! And those Emblems turned out soooooo good. Pat yourselves on the back🤗
Be-a-u-ti-ful guys!! I always appreciate your attention to detail (since I have OCD) ; ) I'm looking forward to the interior work next! On a different note, I am amazed how much Jack looks and sounds like Tyler--he's truly a mini-me! I enjoyed watching him in this latest installment; be proud, you are raising a fine young man there!
Love to see how much you all enjoy your projects! The details look so good on the Holiday Rambler. By the way, FYI, those LED flame bulbs operate at 3v. If you open up the base of the bulb and remove the step-down transformer bits, it can run off two AA batteries or you can hook 4 bulbs up to a 12v circuit.
Well looky there what you kids were able to accomplish!! It might look different in person, but it looks fantastic on video. All the color choices came together really well and it looks really good. As Tyler said, it's 50 years old, it's not going to be perfect, but it looks pretty darn good for it's age. That was definitely a lot of work, but with Jack on the job, it clearly went much smoother then it would've otherwise. Looking very forward to see what happens on the inside and how you bring the old girl into the 21st century.
I thought of you this weekend, I was at work yesterday (manager at gas station) and all of a sudden a bunch of old campers came in! Once I got over that shock I realized they were all being pulled by antique cars/trucks. The second weekend of August in Sysco,WI they have an antique camp out, my neighbor said he’s going next year…we’re in Markesan, WI
I’m not gonna lie I gasped a little when you held up the handrail but in the end I think it looked good and is functional. The exterior looks great..looking forward to the interior! Great job!!
That rig is looking great. Can't wait to see your ideas for the inside. Those plaques are awesome. Don't worry about close up. People can't see the blemishes at 65mph. Happy vacation!
I had a bunch of the same issues you guys had with my 71. The partsam marker lights, I was lucky and caught the colored leds after the first one. I should have done as you guys I put the wood behind the marker screw holes, great idea. The shocks are a slightly different part number than what everyone told me originally and were too long as well, should be Monroe 555001, not 555025. If that interior door handle fails I've got an original I can send you. Take that door knob into a local Ace/True Value and they can make a key for it, cost me $8. The exterior grab bar is nice! I used the same and it really works nicely. Nice idea on the emblem molds, I might have to try something similar if those hold up. Apparently one of the founding family members of Holiday is working on getting those emblems recreated. My 71 has that same 110v porch light, I'm still debating on what to use for the light now, since I converted it to 12v. Maybe I'll borrow your idea for the light, looks nice.
Thanks for the comment 😁. I'll take a look at the shock part number you provided. Hopefully our interior handle works. If it doesn't we'll let you know. Thanks for the offer. We'll also have to get it a new set of keys made. Thanks again 😉
Pro tip for painting a wheel with a tire on it. Take a plastic bag or large section of plastic of some sort and pinch it in the center and pull it through a circle in your other hand creating a long pointy section of bag. Take it and stick the pointed end at the center of the wheel and cut off the entire section at the tire where its on the rim or just a little less. Then open up the plastic and you will have a hole the size of the rim, you can let some air out of the tire and push the plastic between the rim and the tire so the tire is covered and the rim is exposed and now its ready to paint.
I like the idea of the original "porch light" was that you UN-PLUG it while moving and then plug it in when camping. Probably a safety thing -- that also saved many a light! Great job, guys!
Looks great! Personally I would put the glass in the porch light. The glass would prevent the wind from pulling on the bulb and breaking the porcelain socket.
Just bought the same camper- also already gutted. In similar shape inside and out. Looking forward to getting some tips cause this is super new to me!! So having the kids help is very reassuring 😊
Did you use the Metalcast red paint? If you did you'll want to spray a clear that has ultraviolet protection over it. I've painted things with it and in the sunlight that red fades in a few months if it's not protected from UV light.
In the future, if you want to break the bead on a tire, get a couple of 4 foot sections of 2 x 8 screwed together, then make kind of a ramp out of it and put the edge of the wood right next to where the bead goes onto the rim. Then take a truck or tractor or something heavy and kinda slowly drive up it and it’ll pop it right off.
Easy fix for the lock, take the outside of the lock set to a lock smith and they can re-key the old knob. Either make a key to match or I would have them change the internal parts and make a new key to go with their setup. Usually pretty cheap.
I found your channel 2 days ago, my first video was "Full Renovation - Vintage Camper RV | Start to Finish - Part 1". I have now watched 12 of your videos and I luv them, I am now also subscribed and I will be watching them all, probably over the next week or so, I am disabled so I don't work and will have plenty of time to catch up. Earlier today I watched the Vintage Ford Econoline Camper Van video, I love old American vans, so please get to that one soon. About me I like camping but I am a tent man, I have 5 berth Airedale 5.0 air tent and a Vango Tahiti 850xl Family air tent. I used to have a caravan (trailer for Americans) but I didn't like towing it, not because of the caravan but because of other drivers on the road, so I sold it. Sorry if I have talked to much, I hope you reed this comment, you can be sure I will comment on other videos. If I write too much just let me know and I will try and shorten my comments. Till next time luv ya. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much for the comment. We're happy you found our channel! Pace yourself on the videos, we're pretty new to RUclips so you'll end up running out 😂 Great to have you following along!

Alot of thought went into the exterior, love how you guys interact together and as a family!! The handle is not too bad, thought: paint the black brackets that blue? Love the channel great job on the plaques!
Your son looks just like his dad. And I know what you mean about taping. I've spent the last 2 days painting our 6 outside doors, and it was such a pain just taping the windows that I only did a half of them. And then peeling it off was as hard as putting it on. Then I had to scrape the windows I didn't tape
I love how the exterior has turned out the emblems turned out amazing and I love seeing a family working together for a common goal
Thank you! ❤️
The camper is looking great! I love the paint choices you made. I also love to see how Jack is starting to enjoy being on camera. It's so fun to watch him learn how to work on the campers as well as learn the video part of your channel.
Thanks, yes! He's starting to loosen up a bit on camera. He's a good kid and becoming quite helpful too 👍👍
Looks fantastic. Family working together is a wonderful adventure, everyone should be proud of themselves and the finished product.
Thank you! 😊😊
The camper trailer looks .
Fantastic!!!!👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Haha, thank you! 😁😁
Looks great! This fellow Mid-Michigander enjoys your content!
Awesome! Thank you!
In my younger day, we would use a vehicle and run up on the tire and brake the bead, if there was a second vehicle around .
Great video as always. Loved the Wizard of Oz reference on the bike ride!!!
Thanks! 👍
It’s the family ties dad working on an old camper again, you did a great job on those emblems, they look great.
😂 Thanks!
He looks just LIKE his dad!
No denying who fathered that boy 😂

Oh my gosh, the thought of that terrifies us 😆
Your camper looks absolutely gorgeous and very inspiring outcome. All the small little details was a perfect retro modern stylish upgrades.
Thanks so much!
You can take that knob off and take to any Ace hardware to have it re-keyed.
That's what I did with the exact same lock, cost $8 to have a key made.
Great suggestion!
Wow you guys did a really good job looks sweet.
Thanks so much!

@@retrorevivals Keep up the good work.
I painted the rims on my RV candy apple red. A nice splash of color. First went the gold base then some Autozone red anodized. They are pretty.
Did you use the Metalcast red paint? If you did you'll want to spray a clear that has ultraviolet protection over it. I've painted things with it and in the sunlight that red fades in a few months if it's not protected from UV light.
@@greggv8 The color is called red anodized. I did put a clear acrylic over it mainly to protect it from rock chips.
Sounds like a great idea! If we ever ditch our hubcaps, or lose them, we'll definitely paint the wheels 👍👍
In the future, if you want to break the bead on a tire, get a couple of 4 foot sections of 2 x 8 screwed together, then make kind of a ramp out of it and put the edge of the wood right next to where the bead goes onto the rim. Sounds easy better than what we tried 😆. Next time we'll know!
Love the exterior look! So so good! Way to go team!

Easy fix for the lock, take the outside of the lock set to a lock smith and they can re-key the old knob. Either make a key to match or I would have them change the internal parts and make a new key to go with their setup. Usually pretty cheap.
Great suggestion, we'll do that!

To make a copy of your maps, spray them with a release and the press modeling clay (soft) then take bondo and thin it a pourable consistency. Make a positive mold and then make a another cast from the positive mole. You could use that in your silcone mold also I believe. The Bondo method gives a strong finished piece.
Great idea, thanks!

That paint finish is called 'Satin Gloss'. It's in the middle between 'High Gloss' and Mat'.
