    The "food" smelled awful too.
Edit: One time, my mom and I went to the Hurler multiple times, and the thing that always plagued me was the awful odor of the Jukebox Diner. The other times we went, it wasn't killing my nose, but it definitely didn't smell good if we got too close.

Carowinds was not built by Cedar Fair. It was initially Paramount Carowinds and was a “six flags” type of amusement park. Since Cedar Fair purchased it, they have done a great job renovating it. There isn’t an over night fix but is miles better than is used to be and is now a destination point.

I miss the Paramount days a lot--thats what it was when I was a kid. But, I saw a video on its history the other day, and it turns out it didn't actually start as a Paramount park. Initially it was owned by the creator, but then he had to sell to ...kings island, I think *they* sold it to Paramount in like the early 1980s. Cause Paramount bought them out got several parks in the deal, including carowinds (and king's dominion, the other park I went to a few times as a kid, though it was further)
Expedition Themepark did a carowinds episode, and I think they're going to do a part two as well, idk. That's the video I mentioned. I highly suggest it, esp for people like me who are locals and grew up frequenting the park

Edit: I reworded it some cause didn't mean for that to sound condescending or anything--I just learned all that the other day, myself.

Actually it was initially a Carowinds Corp which ended up merging with Taft broadcasting I think it like 75 or 76 which ended up being something like Kings entertainment or something. Paramount didn’t step in until like the 90’s. Cedar fair didn’t purchase the park til 06

Carowinds is my home park. I agree with all you are saying. Cedar Fairs got to work a lot with this park but it seems like were focus on the other parks like Cedar Point and King’s Dominion. That’s why I always checked the forecast before I got to Carowinds because during the Summer that area always have an Air Quality Issue or Heat Advisory certain times of the day. Of course have an ice cold bottle especially installed stainless steel tumbler to have walking around but you have to take a break to cool off or to eat. That’s why I don’t eat too but enough that i don’t get sick and hungry while at Carowinds. I know that building a’new food place out there but they need more healthy food choices out there especially during the summer like fruit’s especially watermelon. I noticed one thing about Carowinds they are understaffed especially during this time of school year. Mostly the staff are college age are in school during certain time of the day. For instance during Spring Break Day at the park before they open they had a very long at the gate waiting to opened and enter. Also Carowinds have two entrances (North Gate is Fury and South Gate is Afterburn). Theme was like that since Paramount days hopefully we see some changes with theme especially around the Thrill Zone (where Fury and Hurler). Thrill Zone was the Wayne’s World theme from Paramount and the Hurler was the main attraction coaster for that area.

When we went there a few years back (pre-copperhead strike 2018 i believe) it was 98 plus degrees and really humid. So we didn't have a great 2 days either. I believe we left after 2 hours on day 2 to go see a movie and get lunch in Charlotte and came back to close out the night on Fury which was sadly closed we dud ride Afterburn and Intimidator alot, but we left the park hours before closing to get dinner and get a campfire going at our site. We did ride all the coasters we wanted to, but then the only ones we cared to repeat were Fury 325, Intimidator, and Afterburn (again no copperhead at the time) the rest were forgettable to bad honestly (Vortex may be the worst coaster I've ridden). Since the oark was quite dead we took all of our meals at surrounding places. There were plenty of restaurants within a few minutes drive from the park. I definitely hope the park gets some much needed improvements.

Did they get rid of Thunder Road? Sounds like it. Wonder when that happened.
These days it has more coasters these days (with 3, i think, of the top 4 being added recently enough that ive not been since they were added), but it used to have a lot more theming and stuff, when it was a Paramount park. Seems like becoming a Cedar Point park it kinda made that trade off, idk.
This park was a huge part of my childhood/teen years. And its always had the food problem. Back in the day with the season pass (when it was affordable for families like mine), we could leave and go eat somewhere else and come back lol.

It’s been gone for a while now. Copperhead Strike and the waterpark apparently sit where part of it was. A new ride and gaming stations are where the entrance was, I believe

@@fireflyink maaaaan. It's been over a decade since I've been able to go, and now I don't really have any family left, and I and all my friends are busy with work, I don't know when I'd even be able to go, again

I so so so disagree with you. You are way too negative to be doing these reviews. This breakdown average would actually apply to all parks. This makes you look bad as a reviewer and not trustworthy on your opinions. Please improve or find something else to do with your time. This is definitely not it.

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the video. There are plenty of other park reviews I’ve done of theme parks that have rated even higher than this one. I do these videos not because I want to harp on parks and call them bad. I usually put these out there as ways to highlight which areas I feel like a park could improve. In fact, I did actually highly recommend people to still come to Carowinds at the end! If in the end, you’re still not satisfied, no hard feelings, I know my content isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay!
