Had a test drive in one today in the North West at Edwin Mays place. The car blew me away to be honest. The smoothest vehicle to drive ever. Great acceleration when needed. 10 out of 10 to Nissan. Great video. 👍
If you're heading up North the best charging place outside Belfast is the Maxol in Holywood 1 x 200kw charger and 4 x 150kw and 2 x 50kw charging and a EuroSpar for coffee, shopping ect...
I have driven this and the popular rave 4 this is so underrated x trail is more exciting and faster handles better so impressed i cancelled my rav 4 hybrid order
Hi Nobby, Great car. My brother and I test drove a Nissan X Trail E Force in Sydney. Very impressive. Responsive, quiet, well finished and equipped and serene. He has ordered a Ti, rather than the Ti L top of the range which came with stuff he did not need, 20 in wheels, quilted Napa leather seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, rear door sunblinds, Bose stereo and hands free foot opening of the boot. Depending on the different inclusions for different countries I would expect your test car was a TI 7 seater with rear blinds. That would explain no foot operated tail gate, 19 tyres and no diamond quilting to seats. E Force towning weight is 1,650 kg v 2,000 of the conventional.
A Very small percentage of drivers actually told definitely not to the higher weight so for the most it’s not an issue thank you for your understanding
Looks like a good bit of kit but like everything at the moment, it’s going to cost you. A friend has the previous gen and I’m quite impressed with it. Great review as always 👍
I prefer the black grille trim. As for why, I suspect it might be to make the partly electric version look closer to the fully electric Avira, which has an all-black grille.
11:35 no front-camera ? I think, the tekna has front-and rear-Cameras !! With 360°-Sight and lane-control and automatic-steering it must have a front-cam.
Great review as always. Good luck with being a full time RUclipsr - hope it works out great for you. 👍 I really loved the previous gen of the x-trail and this one looks a couple of steps above but was too late for me when I needed to change the car last year. Like you said, consumption is maybe not as low as would be expected. Averaging mid 4s across a full tank on my Tucson PHEV with lots of mixed driving and even a few long hauls. Still, for premium looks and capability, the xtrail is probably a nicer overall package.
Great review Mark. I was enquiring about estates this week, apparently VW won't be bringing the Golf or Passat estates to Ireland. A friend of mine had Nissan juke from new and got rid in under two years as head gasket failed and oil sump issues. Dealer fixed all but friend said never again. If paying the money they ask for now, I'd expect full reliability. Hope you got the PayPal tip. Your videos are a great reference point. TY
I've been working in motor trade industry for two decades now and from my experience no matter how much you pay the "full reliability" term simply does not exist. In other words your expectations are quite interesting 🤔
@@exs3574 I hear you, I'm a stubborn buck when it comes to paying over hard earned money. I can't say too much but I made a dealership and the manufacturer pay for full replacement of engine when I had evidence they ignored recalls. Know your rights, demand better.
If it was as quick as I am to comment, it’d be illegal! 😂 Decent looking yoke Nobby, always wary of them after the last gen. Turbo blew up on one & injectors on another family member’s - I joke you not, both 6/8 weeks out of warranty..
Injectors and diesels are an issue in Ireland, I had injectors go in Avensis once, Toyota guy told me there was a lot of poor quality diesel out there doing damage to cars. Large number of cars in N.East region recently caught with laundered diesel. Traced back to one forecourt, innocent motorists hadn't a clue. We need pumps that won't pump crap to be mandatory in all forecourts. @nobby will you do video on E10 fuel coming our way?
In the USA, the NHTSA is investigating these new Variable Compression petrol motors. Too complicated for a tiny improvement in the range. Many failures and motor replacements both on the 1.5 and 2 liter petrol versions.

Great review as usual Nobby 👌🏻 if you had a choice of buying this X-Trail, or any of the top models of the Qashqai, Rav4, Tucson, Sportage or BMW X1. Which one would you choose?
Love the video's. Keep up the great work 👍 But did you record this video last year. Because when you look online. The starting price is 50k + And the cheapest 7-seater is 62 k And for the top of the range is over 70k.
@@danieltierney8079 You think the Germans are better than the Japanese.. check the reliability records first.. depends if you want fancy or reliable I guess.
@danieltierney8079 Check resale values in the US market, Audi, VW, BMW are worth nothing after 5 years. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda hold up their value.
Great vid. Thanks for co sumption use. Be getting rid of EV6 next January...had enough of this EV crap. I will be picking X-trail...Rav 4 phev or Kodiaq Phev. Now off to buy you a coffee.
Hi Nobby, great video as always. In regards to the boot opening with your foot, this is the video that taught me how to get it to work most of the time: ruclips.net/video/xnu1EInWtUw/видео.html No need for the river dance of any sort, just a step in, kick, step out. She actually specifically mentions that the river dance doesn't work always. :D Cheers
@@NobbyOnCars watched the riding part again, still didn't got it. Have a Qashqai, would consider the XTrail if it rides better than the rather stiff Qashqai. Otherwise the Qashqai the additional space isn't really needed and in the front row both are nearly identical.
@@ronpower7790 mentioned the 19s and the ride quality anyway but in summary, didn’t find it hard at all, plenty of profile in the tyres. No harsh thuds as you go over most things, have definitely driven harder stuff in the segment.

Braked is 1650, unbraked 750. This one is an SVE which is highest spec here, the quilted pattern leather is an optional extra.

The X Trail is so much better than the Qashqai, the boxier shape is so much nicer. The hybrid seems great too.
Err, different class, not designed to be comparable.

A diesel X Trail with a spare tyre would be better for serious off roading.
The TiL has a heated steering wheel. Ti and TiL have a front camera.
I actually missed the camera at the front in this, after I filmed I was parking near a pole at the front and it triggered the camera.

Any recommendations between this, the Skoda kodiaq or the VW Tiguan Allspace? Need a decent 7 seater.
They all do the same job. Unless you need a diesel that is.
Kodiaq all day long (diesel)
Hay Bobby when are you going to do a review of the new Skoda kamiq would love to know the different specs ta
I shall ask Skoda!
Sorry Nobby thanks would be great to compare specs in Ireland different to uk
To open the boot, don't put your foot under the car! Just kick your foot forward and back around two foot from the bumper.
I've seen another one review of X-Trail, and seems that your boot opening sweeps are wrong just cause the sensors are on corners 🤷♂
May have been too close to the boot!
Better than CRV, Sportage, rav4 ???
Different class of vehicle to Sportage, CR-V is long in the tooth now. Rav probably closest but the better spec in this is probably a step up.
