Deantoni is incredible, can shred and fill with deep grooves and odd rhythms all over the place, but will hold down the entire band and keep in time with that bassline.
I am proud to say that I did the lighting for this amazing show by this incredible bunch of musicians! I was the House Electrician/Lighting Director at Highline Ballroom for nearly 10 years.
@wielderofdrumstix I think it's because Pridgen wasn't afraid to be loud when songs required less of his touch and that's just his style. Deantoni, on the other hand, knows when he should be loud, quiet, fast, etc in order to compliment the songs even further. Two completely amazing different drummers with different mind sets.
Lorentz. Not from Solar Gambling. It's on an album that features the live recordings of these songs. It's a Japanese album title that translates to "You're Welcome".
you can download the cd at the Mars Volta Mexico Blogspot Live at the troubadour and Live at Highline Ballroom. The video seems to be from two different sets.
@fob199 I remember in an interview Juan was saying how Him and Marcel are always watching Deantoni and are always just blown away every time they play. Deantoni is on a whole 'nother lever
Thanks TheDanification. I had already found out who this crazy aZZ drummer was. Thanks anyways. I found my new fave drummer. D PARKS. Unmothafucingreal
@markley90 Lol, me too. My boy called me last night saying that he grabbed us some fungi for the show on Monday. Plus Cedric is joining them. I can't wait.
oh god, deantoni.... i focused too much on the cd (because of the full version of this song) and other videos but now i rediscovered this. but to the drummers out there: i am not sure... but is he playing 32th or really fucking 64th notes on the hihat in some parts? it really freaks me out and kinda scares me lol
deantoni's playing sometimes reminds me of chris dave, the main difference is that parks is not that tony williams-ish still think chris dave is more 'innovative' tho...
i am convinced that deatoni is a robot. his neuroprocessor was specifically designed to destroy a drum set. meanwhile he crushes anyones dreams of ever becoming a real drummer. no one can keep up with a fucking robot.
Y esa cantante que? de donde la sacaste omar? de seguro te la andas picando, deberias poner el talento antes que la calentura, de todos modos excelente musica, ya quiero verte en el vive, pero si vas con esa niñita mejor me voy a ver a moderato
Deantoni is incredible, can shred and fill with deep grooves and odd rhythms all over the place, but will hold down the entire band and keep in time with that bassline.
this was the last song in their set for Chicago. so fucking amazing. the vocals, drums, everything amazing! so glad I was able to witness this. ;)
8 years later. deantoni parks is still a BEAST
I am proud to say that I did the lighting for this amazing show by this incredible bunch of musicians! I was the House Electrician/Lighting Director at Highline Ballroom for nearly 10 years.
I currently enjoy this more than TMV, this sounds so fresh and they look and sound so happy and free to do whatever they want!
🫶
Agreed! I love TMV, but this is Omar on a different level and D on drums is sick!!!
I come back to this drum solo at least once a year so I can remember the moment I saw this live.

Where is the resto of the song ?
@The4thGuy this is the end jam to another song. Can't tell you which it is but the entire full length song would probably be above 8 minutes.
This song is such a fuckin tease

3:13 Master Omar looking over his padawan Deantoni

MF DEANTONI
КАПИТАЛЬНЫЕ КРАСАВЧИКИ (sorry 4 caps)
Y esa cantante que? de donde la sacaste omar? de seguro te la andas picando, deberias poner el talento antes que la calentura, de todos modos excelente musica, ya quiero verte en el vive, pero si vas con esa niñita mejor me voy a ver a moderato
Wajajaja, moderato, rayadango.
Now, imagine what Pridgen would do with this vamp!!!!!!!

All of these would be great without vocals.
