    Congratulations on the Z8! Also: I love your channel! 😊 As for the 180-600/100-400 comparison: I rented the 180-600 for a week to test it on my Z6II, and it's a great lens, but ultimately I went for the 100-400. It's a lot shorter and lighter and that makes a difference if you carry it around all day. Can't complain about the sharpness either. Next on my wish list: a Z8...

    Well gentlemen, I’ve been pondering the same Z8 now versus the ongoing wait for Z6iii, but we haven’t had such incredible price reductions here in the US. Please share your impressions of the higher megapixel sensor from you Z6ii when you’ve had the chance to use it for a bit. (Me not having used more than a 24mp FF to date, the high mp seems like a mixed bag). Congrats on the new kit.

I have thr trinity Zooms, but I was missing a Prime for Portraits, Street and low light. the 50mm and the 85mm 1.2 look so massive I wanted to switch to Sony or Leica. But Price/Quality is better with Nikon and the Z8 is so lightning fast! The Plena will also come to me one day, and the ZF II or NIkon Z7III as a second camera! Keep on going, we are missing good Nikon channels.

    Shocking that Loz opted to dive in and get the Z8 instead of holding on a bit longer, but with a price like that, it can not be passed by.
    As always, a great video, and it's fun to see others get a lot of joy out of camera equipment and then actually use it.
    It's fine when other RUclips channels get equipment just to test it out, but the two of you actually put it to good use. To set your channel apart from others, it might be fun to see how well a piece of equipment has lasted. Go to your earliest lens and do some test shots now and maybe explain how you use it in your work and how it's held up. Maybe mention what is good about it and in what areas it may lack. Maybe Loz can do the same with the Z6 since it is a few years old now. It could be helpful for someone just getting into photography (or the Z-line) and it could help them to decide if a used piece of equipment is worth it.
    Please remember to write down the serial number of your own cameras. You don't want to get a Russ Z8 confused with a Loz Z8.
    Happy shooting!

    I went to the show but didn’t buy anything. I really wanted to look at the zf in its various colours and wanted to see what the 400 2.8 is like. Wow what a lens! I’ve got the 100-400 and was going to buy the 180-600 but decided the wider end and much lighter I’d get much more use out of it and yes more than happy with my decision. 180-600 is good but I’m not a birder and the 100-400 makes more sense imo

    This is primarily for Loz. I own both the Nikon Z 100-400mm and the Nikon Z 180-600. They are both wonderful lenses, but having listened to the Russ and Loz videos for a couple of years, I would think that you'd be happier with the Z 100-400mm f4.5 -5.6 S. vs the Z 180-600mm f5.6-6.3. I bought the 180-600mm primarily for shooting wildlife, during daylight at distance. I think it's excellent for that, but the Z 100-400mm is more versatile, slightly better f-stop, and probably slightly better autofocus aand certainly lighter weight. I just think you'd use the 100-400 far more than you would the 180-600 given the use case that you talk about for your own photography. By the way, they both work great with the Z8!

      Thanks John - this is where my thinking has been going to be honest, just need to justify it to myself now 😅 I am going to try Russ’s 2.0 TC on my 70-200 first out of curiosity, as that would give 400 at 5.6 theoretically; wondering how sharp it will be 🤷‍♂️ thanks for your help !

    • @johnforbes4795
      @johnforbes4795 5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Loz. I have the 1.4x Nikon Z teleconverter and have used it on my 70-200, 100-400mm, and the 180-600mm. It certainly drops light by a stop or so, but the images are quite satisfactory from a sharpness perspective. I've certainly read reviews of the 2.0x, but then I figured that with the resolution of my Z8 and Z9 I could just crop a bit to equal the 2.0x so I haven't bought that one.@@lozzom

    I think the V8 is a better choice than the Z6 people don't realise that it's not just about the megapixels. There's a build quality of the better cameras. They are just better in many situations now I know there was some problems with the shutter curtain, but hopefully they've fixed that in the later models that wasn't early model problem. There were number of Z8 owners who had that problem, it's one of the reasons why I didn't buy that camera.
