In January 2020, we were invited by the Fukushima prefecture to a "Samurai Spirit Tour" in Aizuwakamatsu. Organized by the Samurai Spirit Tourism program and Kendo World (Alexander Bennett), this monitor tour aims at promoting the ancient samurai culture of the region.
During the Edo period, there were more than 300 samurai schools in Japan. The Nisshinkan was one of the most famous due to its size and its high level of education. It was planned by Harunaka Tanaka in 1798 and established in 1803. Its purpose was to produce elite members of society through Confucian teachings.
Discover with us this important cultural asset of Fukushima Prefecture and of the Samurai History of Japan.
