2:50 If I'm honest, one of my favorite parts of taking Aikido was wearing the hakama. Sensei told us the hakama could be used to hide your feet during a fight by squatting slightly...just enough for the hakama to cover the feet. This can be used to confuse your attacker because it's harder for them to tell what foot you have your weight on.
Thanks again for showing places in your hometown U are a solid source for Japanese history Also showing how that history is still alive In experiences u can visit Thanks Shogo
Shogo this was a great video! Very smart to bring others along so you can showcase the experience even while it is winter and your Reynauds is acting up!
I remember when i used to Practice Aikido, i always enjoyed Practicing katas with the Bokken, pretenting it was a samurai sword, and having earned the privilidge of wearing a Hakama to practice was so Amazing.
Thanks for yet another great experience enlightening us about traditional Japanese culture and history. Hope you and your lovely family and friends enjoy the holiday season and have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR-OKHINI!
Learning and learning, thank you . I love all cultures specially Japanese. I learned about the African samurai from your channel, I never knew it was real.. thank u again..
I've always loved so much about Japanese culture and now I finally have a great channel to watch to learn and experience more. Thank you very much keep up the amazing work! ❤
Samurai culture is wonderful and very calming and peaceful but we intend to forget they are tremendous fighters warriors and great skill with the katanas
What an amazing experience. The katana demonstration accompanied by taiko drum and the shakuhachi was......powerful to say the least. Fantastic video shogo!
Thank you for this video, it was truly a great experience! I hope I can do it myself one day, feeling the vibration of the taiko in reality probably makes it a thousand times better
The music towards the beginning oh by the gods I could feel the emotion and edge the music has like the katana the edge is sharp and well rounded the drum I felt in my heart the flute in my soul thank you for the whole experience
Thank you for you dedication to sharing Japanese traditions. I have a question you might have the answer to. Why did the Samurai wear gray bearded mask with their helmets in battle ? Was it to look for mercy, giving them an edge or bring the fear of their expertise into an opponent?
There are many opinions from historians about the purposes of the masks. Metatron recently did a video explaining some of those opinions. As we saw, samurai would meditate before battle to obtain and maintain calm during battle. One opinion holds that the expressions on the masks were intended to break an opponent's calm by inspiring different emotions, making them easier to defeat. Considering the many different mask designs ranging from gray-bearded men to demonic faces, this makes sense to me.
Badass Shogo! This is a nice experience! Were they doing Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu or Muso Shinden Ryu in the beginning Iai demonstration. The Taiko drumming and Shakuhachi synced so well with the kata.
Train the mind body and spirit. Real Teachers and Masters never let yourself and your attitude of anger out of the classroom. This is were meditation comes along with training.
In Zazen I was taught to breath out through the mouth deeply only for the first 5 to 10 breaths and then breath through the nose. And to breath into the hara.
Awesome experience ! Thank you for sharing ! Impressive performance I can tell, noone was ready to get shaken from it. Also, I believe my speakers had a blast along with me 😃👍 and I do not need to play cleaning sound anymore, I'll be back to this video from now on regularly 😆

Surprisingly smart design, actually.
It's crazy how just covering your feet could give you an advantage
The more likely purpose was chaps. Gotta remember they were horsemen. The Sengoku version of hakama were different to the edo we're familiar with now.
Me too. I did this experience & LOVED getting dressed up. I thought it was just me because I'm a fashion designer. Haha.
It is a well-known, undisputed fact that the strength of a samurai's sword technique is directly proportional to the number of syllables in its name.
That's fascinating!
Thank you!
What about the fabled how close the camera gets when unsheathing the katana
3?
I don’t get it
@Zatoichi444 it’s not that deep 😭

It was cool how much the drums were making the camera shake! It reminded me of the anime "Bleach," when it had characters having strong "Reiatsu."

The performers swordsmanship is very direct and well balanced.

Thank you for you dedication to sharing Japanese traditions. I have a question you might have the answer to. Why did the Samurai wear gray bearded mask with their helmets in battle ? Was it to look for mercy, giving them an edge or bring the fear of their expertise into an opponent?
As far as I've heard, the mustache of beards on the menpo signified the age of the Samurai.
