  • America’s Shift to Isolationism: What It Means for the World | Peter Zeihan
In this insightful discussion, we delve into the critical issues of de-globalization and depopulation. The concept of de-globalization is traced back to 1945, highlighting how the United States utilized its naval power to create a global trade network aimed at securing alliances during the Cold War. This strategy, however, has evolved with recent U.S. administrations adopting more isolationist and populist stances, impacting global trade dynamics.
Depopulation is explored through the lens of industrialization and urbanization, explaining how these processes have led to demographic shifts where older populations outnumber younger ones, particularly in advanced and developing countries. The implications of these demographic changes are vast, potentially disrupting global supply chains and reducing the ability to sustain current levels of trade and economic growth.
The video also examines the consequences of these trends on energy and manufacturing sectors. With the retirement of the Baby Boomer generation, labor costs are rising, and reshoring manufacturing processes are becoming crucial. The United States, being a net exporter of oil and food, is expected to navigate these changes better than many other regions.
Overall, the discussion provides a comprehensive analysis of the impending challenges and transformations in global trade, energy, and manufacturing, emphasizing the need for adaptation in a rapidly changing world.

You say you have the right to change your mind if things change.. Well they are changing dramatically for EV’.
Due to 48 volt architecture and Hyperloop wiring. A Tesla truck has 1/5th the copper wiring that a tradition internal combustion engine truck has.
    1/5th!!!
In addition. NMC batteries ( Nickel Manganese Cobalt) aren’t used anymore. Instead they currently are using LFP batteries (Lithium Iron Potassium) and the Newest batteries are Sodium Iron micro silicon )
In addition Tesla’s Giga Presses dramatically save wieght and time building a stronger safer car.
That’s important because TESLA’s Model Y is the best selling car model in the world ( yes beating out Toyota’s Corolla ).
Oh by the Way Toyota and several other legacy car makers are ordering their own Giga presses.
Finally Tesla is open sourcing its technology to benefit the rest of the automotive industry.
So please stop reciting the added copper and other materials required for EV’s At least do some research please.

Tesla is now in trouble having to cut there prices against cheaper Chinese manufactured EV which have lower quality standards, and now demand has dropped as well cars are piling up at ports around the world, the demand has peaked already, resale values on these cars are bad as well as newer tech come along and undercuts value of older EV,s, electricity grids can not keep with the wide spread recharging requirements either. Environmental cost of ev is greater than normal cars and present a greater explosion risk as well. So even if we manage to find enough mineral resources across the whole build for ev, which is still doubtful, it is wishful thinking that ev’s are even close to being a viable option in the near to medium future
