    It really depends how you drive the car will affect your fuel, if you are fast and pedal to the metal your fuel will go out the window, but treat it well and accelerate bit slower, you could get somewhat 14L/100km

    G'Day, fellow off-road adventurers yeah I have been buzzing around the Aussie scrub for around 10+ years, having experienced various different terrain. Got me into some sticky situations even sitting out in the scrub for about 6 hours waiting for another 4WD to head in my direction but that's all part and parcel of 4WD'ing especially when you head out to isolated areas. As long as you are prepared for the unexpected you will be right mate. Now I have owned a few vehicles at the time and it is great to experience the capabilities of different 4WD's. My current bus is the Nissan Patrol TI 1999 - 4,5 petrol with 5-speed auto, with the factory, fitted rear diff locker and will stand up and say this thing is a beast, throw the rear lockers on it turns into a weapon I have thrown everything at it and it just keeps going whereas before I would struggle in areas. I Love this 4WD both on and off the black stuff (bitumen) ...... and yes I know others will testify to other makes and models and that is great, cause you buy a 4WD to suit yourself not for others. So no matter the make, model, petrol, diesel, ute, wagon or shorty you drive get out there and explore the wonders of nature, - that's why we have a 4WD. So take care, stay safe and leave the black stuff behind you.

    The Patrol is an amazing all-rounder, possibly the best large SUV for the money ..on the annual Sydney to Byron bay trip/ holiday it averaged 9 litres per 100 kms , surprisingly economy , plus it seats 8 , or stows a lot of bags and pets ( who enjoy the smooth ride and large windows...)

    lol 15l/100 on the hwy.. did this guy not reset the trip computer. (btw trip comp is oout by about 2lt less then display) i get 15 in mine and it weighs 3.5t with 35"muddies on it. so not sure how he can say its using that much..
    Its an awesome tourer. Handles corrugations, crappy remote roads awesome. Better then any solid axle. And more capable then any GU mod for mod.

    fuel economy doesnt seem bad. my dad has a 2016 ford edge with a na 3.5l v6 that puts out juat 280hp and 350nm and it gets 16-17l/100km in the city and about 9-15l/100km in the highway. so, the patrol seems damn efficient compared to that

    They have built that for the Arab states in the middle east, who else needs a big V8 petrol engine?
    I had a new Nissan Patrol GR 5 door in 1999 with the 3.0 litre TDi engine and that pathetic 5 speed manual gearbox with all the wrong ratios unless you were going shoppng, I work in construction / forestry and tow on and off road and I have to say apart from that gearbox I loved the beast, leather seats like arm chairs, good visability, well laid out controls, good towing vehicle even with 3.50 tonnes on the back due mainly to ladder chassis, off road it would just plough through almost anything and I only remember having to use the diff locks a couple of times. Very good sound system and air-con unit as well.

    I don't understand why the Y62 Patrol in Australia doesn't have the 2014 facelift upgrades that were made available practically everywhere else it's sold. Does it have to do with the fact that the model isn't selling as well there due to not having a Diesel engine option? It's confusing to me because in the Middle East and Eastern Europe the facelift model was available since 2014.

I'm just saying you shouldn't hate in the car, it's a car that always gets the job done

  • @AusMiner
    @AusMiner 8 лет назад +2

    I'd take one of these before a Land Cruiser 200 any day of the week. Better looking, and better vehicle all round. And definitely better looking than the "luxury" Infiniti version that they get in the states - somebody definitely hit that thing with the ugly stick and made it look like a Hippo.
    But as much as I like it ......................... it is still not in the same class as the Land Rover Discovery. The only things this has over the Discovery are
    1. - the larger engine, and it really is debatable whether or not that is an advantage. I'd say if you were doing a lot of heavy towing, maybe, but otherwise, not at all.
    2. - it is an 8 seater vs the Discovery's 7 seat arrangement - but that is only an advantage if you want to sit small children in the third row. If you want to sit 2 x adults back there, the Discovery kills it.
    3. - with the back row of seats up, the Nissan definitely has a lot more luggage space in the back than the Discovery does.
    Having driven both vehicles though, I'll be putting my money on a Discovery with the 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 diesel engine. Easily the best large 4WD wagon available in Australia at the moment.

      Harry Tran and there it can stay... Absolute rubbish vehicle with poor approach/ departure angles, huge amounts of plastic and fuel consumption that makes it redundant as a long distance 4wd. A van would be more practical in Australian market.

    Fuel consumption rate for this Nissan Patrol is much higher, which means that this car is not good for long distance travel. The older Nissan GQ Patrol is still better. Hope Nissan can come u with a good vehicle to compete with land cruiser.

    lol so many comments from people who have not driven this vehicle and simply make assumptions. this petrol engine quite easily competes with the lc200 on ever front and negates (in my opinion and the opinion of 90% of other y62 owners) the need for a diesel variant. i challenge anyone to take one for a test drive back to back with the lc 200 and then come back and let everyone know what color y62 you ordered.
    p.s. they are selling like hot cakes now and the waiting list is getting longer.

    • @PastPresentFuture360
      @PastPresentFuture360 7 лет назад

      John Falls Wish they would keep the Y61 Patrol and Land Cruiser 80 production going. Both were the ultimate 3 row SUVs. Luxurious enough but still hard core 4x4s.
      That being said, I'll prob get this (US-market Armada) in the near future. Perfect for comfortably transporting my family and the occasional trips to cabins & national parks up North. LC is too expensive now!

    • @timlance2753
      @timlance2753 7 лет назад

      I've not driven the Y62 myself but I imagine the reason they are selling like hotcakes is because the name Nissan Patrol. That name in Australia didn't even take a hit with the 3.0L hand grenades. A lot of people will either buy Land Cruiser because 'Land Cruiser' or Patrol because 'Patrol' is written on the back of it.

    • @michaelduong3852

      its selling like hot cakes in which country? cause i can say it aint in Sydney... i dont see any of these on the road at all. i see more of the infity variant of this SUV. i see way more landcruiser and LX570 than this SUV.

    • @nedcakovan5863

      they ship 100 a month to aus. prob 1/10th the amount compared to cruisers. Yet there is always a wait on new stock.. Rest of the world is destroying sales in these. Hense y they dont care about backwards thinking aussies that still think diesel is better. USA atm are selling approx 5000 a month compared to 250 landcruisers. and over 90 of both brands are sold in petrol, not diesel.

      Diesel engine is dead, this thing has 500nm of it's 560nm available from 1600 rpm, that's more than most diesels peak output, let alone the 400hp that takes over when the 560nm starts to drop off from 4500rpm.

I get that in mine.. i run roof rack, 35"wheels, all the steel work and when i have just my family in it with fridge its 3.5t.. So how does he claim 15 in a stock car, when every other owner says they get 9-12.................

    Stop with the kW unit of measurement. I am Canadian and I do use the metric system. But as a car enthusiast, and somewhat old fashioned, I like to use horsepower. It's not that I can't do the conversions in my head on the spot. It's just a larger number and I like it. And it's "foot pounds of torque." Not "torques."
